AMMF is the UK’s only charity solely dedicated to raising awareness of and funding research into cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).  The charity works closely throughout the UK with clinicians, healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers, patients and their carers, as well as actively collaborating across Europe and globally.  

The role of the Events and Campaigns Lead is to plan and implement a wide range of high quality, responsive activities, including fundraising campaigns via social media, and developing relationships with supporter ambassadors, and planning and organising regional events, throughout the year.   

The role also involves working with the CEO and wider team on AMMF’s major events, such as Westminster receptions, nurse study days, and the annual 3-day conference. 

It is expected the Events and Campaigns Lead will develop an understanding of AMMF’s aims and objectives and its policies and procedures.

Responsibilities: 

• Deliver a programme for fundraising campaigns throughout the year, eg, summer competitions, Christmas fundraisers
• Lead on and be first point of contact for regional ambassadors, their meetings and events
• Develop, set up and manage a database and network of regional volunteers
• Organise patient and carer virtual meetings
• Prepare for and attend external events representing AMMF, for example, university or hospital information days
• Attend external AMMF networking, partner and fundraising events when required
• Attend the annual AMMF conference and other events, and fulfil duties as required.   
• Produce reports on campaigns, events and meetings as and when required

General:

• Effectively communicate internally and externally, providing a professional and courteous service at all times
• Support team members, fundraisers, supporters and volunteers to be as effective as possible in their work for AMMF

• Previous experience and understanding of fundraising and information events and campaigns in the charity sector, and of using a range of techniques, including social media
• Competent with Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and with emailing services such as Mailchimp, virtual meeting platforms Teams and Zoom, and social media platforms, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Instagram, and with Hootsuite.

With oversight by the Director of Science and Regulatory Affairs, you will support the collection, preparation, organisation, and use of the Science team’s key information resources which contribute to ensuring that our work and external communications are underpinned by accurate and robust evidence.

You will support the Science team in inputting to marketing and fundraising efforts as well the preparation of press releases and other forms of external communication. Your work will contribute to ensuring that the organisation’s advocacy, media and supporter communications are based on accurate, evidence-based science.

You will also work with the organisation’s press and media function to help maintain the quality of media coverage relating to animal testing and animal-free science. In collaboration with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners you will work to support research and contribute to the production of high-quality scientific material which can be used to advance the agenda to end all animal testing, including through the provision of the organisation’s digital education service.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the preparation, organisation, and maintenance of key Science team information resources which underpin our work and provide support for their use across the organisation. This includes responsibility for maintaining a well-organised central knowledge base to ensure our work is easily tracked, accessed and referenced.
• Support and input into research and contribute to the production of high-quality scientific material, including briefings, reports, presentations, posters, and summaries of the latest developments to support the Science team’s work. Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely press releases and support increased media coverage for our organisation.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of up-to-date briefings for internal and external use on emerging trends and latest developments in non-animal approaches, as well as helping to maintain the organisation’s specialist expertise in key regulatory toxicology topics.
• Contribute to raising awareness across the organisation on animal testing issues and the work of the Science team.
• Provide support to the Director, and Deputy Director, of Science & Regulatory Affairs on regulatory toxicology and other scientific issues, as required.
• At the request of the Deputy Director of Science & Regulatory Affairs, undertake any other duties consistent with this post.

Addressing Food Poverty

Swindon Food Collective is an independent charity that aims to help people in Swindon, or the surrounding area, who are suffering from financial hardship and finding it difficult to provide food for themselves, their family or dependents.

They receive donations of non-perishable, tinned or dried food and toiletries from churches, schools, local companies, community groups, supermarkets and individuals and currently feed nearly 10,000 people per year; one third of these are children.

They work with many approved organisations, schools, doctors and social workers who can refer people in crisis to us. As well as providing food to address food poverty, they also provide a friendly chat and try to signpost people for further help. Indeed, it is this ‘signposting’ or working with people to enable them to enhance their lives where they see their services evolving. Swindon Food Collective are also reviewing how they can best utilise short-life foods. They operate from a central warehouse and have 11 distribution centres around Swindon and surrounding areas where food parcels can be collected.

The charity is financially sound and has the resources to develop their service offering. They have recently hired a Finance Manager, created a new post as Business Strategy Manager and are also out to market to appoint an Operations Manager.

The role

To lead the charity forward, they are creating the role of Chief Executive Officer for the first time. They are seeking an experienced professional who can lead us not only in addressing food poverty but also helping others to help themselves through forging collaborative working arrangements with other organisations, perhaps even forming a co-operative. The charity is open to new ideas.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Be the face and voice of the charity - its principal ambassador, promoting and developing Swindon Food Collective’s work, raising the charity’s profile and maximising its reach.
- Lead the senior management team to lead, support and motivate all staff, aligning employees and volunteers with the charity’s aims, objectives and ambitions.
- Develop and propose a medium-to-long-term strategy for the charity and present it to the Board of Trustees for discussion and approval.
- Oversee the development and implementation of business plans in line with the agreed strategy and report to the Board on progress through agreed priorities & KPIs.
- Identify and assess strategic risks, issues and opportunities and take responsibility for initiating and leading associated changes.
- Maintain a long-term staffing and resourcing plan to underpin the agreed strategy and adopt best practice for the management, development and engagement of staff and volunteers.

Strategy & Planning – Fundraising Team

You will have in depth knowledge of a range of fundraising income sources and already be an established team leader with excellent fundraising sector insight. We need someone who can support and guide our team through this period.

We are looking for a capable and creative Content Coordinator to join our Marketing and Digital team. This is a crucial role, working across our digital channels to deliver ongoing communications and create content. You will be comfortable writing for different channels, formats and audiences, able to adapt your approach according to what’s needed. The Dalit Solidarity Network UK is looking out for a 3-day a week (21 hours) part time Programme Officer. This role is to facilitate the work of DSN-UK ensuring delivery of key project administration, advocacy work and the smooth running of the office and taking on ad-hoc tasks where necessary. The Programme Officer will report to the Director. This role will occasionally involve some travel, evening or weekend work.  

Responsible for:

Everyday Casteism programme

Assisting the Director to implement the Everyday Casteism programme, including:

• Leading on community-based outreach and data collection and processing
• Development of advocacy strategies
• Supporting network development
• Supporting activities related to Business and Human Rights

Communication, networking & membership

• Liaising with DSN-UK members
• Leading on social media communications for DSN-UK

Administration

• Organising quarterly board meetings and AGM and taking minutes/preparing relevant papers

• Preparing management accounts and arranging payment of invoices
• Managing Gift Aid Submissions
• Managing receipts and petty cash
