Main responsibilities for the Fundraising & Membership Officer
Fundraising
- Support the setting of the charity’s fundraising targets through the research and review of both external and internal fundraising activities.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of the charity’s fundraising activities and campaigns.
- Collate the agreed metrics (including income and expenditure) and report on a weekly basis.
- Participate fully in the generation of fundraising ideas and activity selection.
- Design, prepare and implement the agreed activities and campaigns, which are likely to be varied in nature and might include dedicated fundraising events, grant applications to support families in disadvantaged socio-economic groups, and legacy generation.
- Recommend changes and updates to the activities and campaigns based on testing and evidenced data.

The Role

Mile End Climbing Wall (MECW) is the trading name of the charity Development through Challenge (DtC).
Development through Challenge started life as a charity called North London Rescue Commando (NLRC), set up when London was at threat of flood. They moved to the current site from North London, where they had started as a small water sports centre. In the mid-1980s a change in focus led to the formation of Mile End Climbing Wall. It became the climbing wall in London and one of the first climbing walls in England. In 1997 NLRC changed its name to Development through Challenge.
Since then, we have been providing East London and UK climbing communities with high quality climbing and associated facilities that are available to everyone regardless of ability to pay, physical ability, or skill-level. We organise training and challenges that improve people’s wellbeing.
Responsible to the Operations Manager, this position will work with the Senior Managers, Trustees and CEO, to deliver the strategic plan for marketing and communications and manage their operational implementation - including on and offline campaigns, internal and external communications, publications, digital activities, events and PR to raise awareness of brand and reputation and maximise customer and community engagement.

The Bike Project (TBP) is looking for a Marketing Executive to join the Fundraising & Marketing Team. This role will focus on delivering marketing activity to help drive fundraising donations, increase income through retail sales, and boost engagement with our audiences.
This is a key growth area for TBP, and the post holder will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing across a range of channels, including social media, email, search, and advertising. The Role

Responsibilities and Duties
- To establish a fundraising strategy and ensure fundraising compliance.
- To generate income from individual donors at the low, mid and major gift level. To support the Executive Trustee steward existing, and cultivate new, major donors.
- To research and develop a trust and foundation pipeline and prepare and submit grant applications and draft progress reports
- To grow our income and diversify our donor pool through targeted campaigns
- To grow our network – including influencers and organisations that can help to raise our profile
- To ensure appropriate stewardship processes are in place so that donors at all levels feel well thanked and informed of their impact.
- To grow our presence amongst small to medium businesses, London schools and local residents
- To build partnerships with businesses to extend our profile and find new funding opportunities
- To effectively engage schools and businesses to support the Foundation, to raise awareness and help raise funds
- To liaise with the team on a regular basis to explore better community engagement, local connections, and fundraising opportunities
- To report regularly to the Board on income, prospects, and strategic objectives in alignment with our objectives
- To help foster a positive culture of fundraising across the organisation
