We are looking for a Financial Analyst to play a key role in the finance and broader management team of our ancient and innovative Christian charity, which has a chapel and a pattern of prayer at its heart.

This is a new role established to support our Finance Director and provide analysis of results and performance to support the Commercial Director, managers and trustees in their decision-making processes.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and a great communicator. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and be particularly good at communicating often technical information to non-specialists. They will work well with others including colleagues, clients and suppliers.

Experienced and dedicated, they will support the management of this venerable and much-loved institution and be flexible to assist the small finance team, especially in busy periods.

As the Royal Foundation of St Katharine is a Christian retreat centre that is open to all regardless of faith, and as the post holder would be a member of the management team, it would be essential for this person to support the Christian ethos of the charity. It would be desirable if they felt able to support the rhythm of prayer in our chapel, though this is not a requirement.

Essential skills and experience

• Experience in the hospitality sector with a strong preference to hotels.
• University degree or equivalent.
• Either hold or be studying for a recognised accounting and finance qualification. Study support will be available for the right candidate.

Who: We are looking for an experienced, self-starting Finance Manager for the Central Foundation Schools of London, a charity supporting two state schools in London, with investments and endowments in the region of £40m.

Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible through the CEO to the Board, for day-to-day management of the charity’s accounts and all financial operations. They will manage the financial record keeping, payroll, pensions, banking and oversee the tracking of Foundation’s investments and income. The postholder will provide accurate financial management information, including quarterly cashflow forecasting and management accounts and co-ordinating the annual budget setting process.  They will be responsible for preparing the annual accounts to the required standards and overseeing the annual audit process. They will also provide advice on a range of operational issues to ensure sound asset management, value for money and compliance with statutory requirements relevant to the charity’s financial operations. They will contribute to the shared leadership of the organisation including collaborating on the implementation of the Foundation’s strategy.

Our Work: For over 150 years, the Central Foundation Schools of London has supported two schools in inner London. Between them, the Girls’ School at Bow Road, Tower Hamlets and the Boys’ School is based in Cowper Street, Islington provide places to over 2,500 young people. Today, the Foundation continues to benefit students at these two schools while also supporting the schools to strengthen the opportunities, facilities and educational excellence for current and future students.

Our People: We are a small team with three part time staff managing the day to day work of the Foundation.  A Board of 18 trustees/directors volunteer their time and skills and collaborate closely with the small staff team. In 2022 the Board started a process of transformation and modernisation of the charity’s operations and processes. In 2023, alongside refreshing our governance, supporting two major building programmes and updating our financial operations, we established our first strategy addressing how we can best support the Schools over the next decade and more. 

The Role: To support the exciting opportunities presented by the new strategy, Central Foundation Schools for London are recruiting a permanent Finance Manager to provide professional management of the charity’s accounts, ensuring the charity’s operational effectiveness and efficiency, accurate financial management information and advice, preparation of the annual budget, management of our investment portfolio as well as compliance with statutory for the production of the Annual Statutory Accounts in compliance with latest SORP and legislation.

Experience: We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with good post-qualification experience with the ability to work independently and lead the charity’s financial operations.

Hours: Working 2 days a week, the appointed candidate will have the flexibility agree their working pattern with the chief executive. Ideally, the new Finance Manager would work Tuesday or Wednesday (or both) on site in the Foundation office when other staff members are also on site.

Our Offer: Salary £48,000 - £54,000 pro rata dependant on experience;b ased near Old Street, with flexibility in days/hours by agreement; enhanced employer pension with option to join from day 1; 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata); taining and development support, including support for continuing professional development.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The main responsibility of this role is to assist the Head of Resources in the efficient and smooth running of financial functional activities of the charity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Process and prepare financial and business forms for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.

2. Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the Head of Resources and assisting in developing and maintaining all financial reporting within the charity.

3. Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the charity’s annual income and expenditure budget.

4. Assisting in monthly bank reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts.

5. Dealing with finance related queries from staff, senior management, supporters, and suppliers.

6. Maintenance and reconciliation of direct debits, standing orders and other online donations.

7. Supporting the financial controller in the planning and preparation of statutory accounts and the annual audit.

8. Ensuring accurate gift aid records are maintained for supporters and conducting the annual gift aid claim.

9. Assisting in the maintenance of all accounting records on an ongoing basis to ensure:.

             a.   All income and expenditure are properly approved, banked and processed in a timely manner.

             b.   Monthly cash/cheque management and bank reconciliations are carried out and recorded.

10. Undertaking any other accounting duties that may be required and providing cover when other staff are absent.

PSK collaborates with many functions across the organisation including policy, advocacy, campaigns, fundraising, communications, as well as with WaterAid partners and collaborators.

About the Role:
The Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Advisor drives the design and implementation of WaterAid's organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategy. The senior advisor leads the development of knowledge management tools, contribute to organisational processes for collating and disseminating program knowledge, and the evolution of knowledge exchange mechanisms. Additionally, lead the development of the internal programme and policy knowledge library, ensuring comprehensive access and collaborating on strategic knowledge communications.

• Work with Capacity Strengthening Senior Advisor, to facilitate organisational mechanisms for knowledge exchange, learning and capacity-strengthening.

Support fundraising, external engagement, and communications (approximately 5% of time)

The Role

You will be instrumental in securing the funding, which the organisation needs to continue to deliver and develop its services, across a wide range of functions and projects. You will be an entrepreneurial, knowledgeable fundraiser, adept at finding the right opportunities to fit the right projects. You will also be meticulous and organised in your approach to stewardship, maintaining contact with funders and working with colleagues to collate the information needed for reporting.

About You

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.

The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Individual Giving Manager to join the Fundraising team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, for 12 months. This role is critical for the success of our income generation activities and acquisition of new supporters.

We are looking for a target driven team player who will skilfully and tactfully manage a variety of stakeholder relationships, including our face-to-face agency partners and volunteers. This is an exciting time to join the team as we look to build on successful growth of existing supporter acquisition initiatives. 

About the team 

This role sits within the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to the Head of Supporter Engagement, you will also work collaboratively with the Individual Giving Manager – Donor Development, Individual Giving Officer, Supporter Care Co-ordinator, and the Events team. You will also work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including our Branch Network and Regional Hubs to connect with new supporters across the UK and maximise opportunities.

About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of:

• Experience of developing and running successful individual giving programmes to recruit new donors. 
• Experience of managing external relationships at all levels, for example with suppliers, agencies, including effective negotiation on costs and contracts. 
• Experience of managing face-to-face fundraising programme. 
• Experience of lottery fundraising. 
• Experience of working with a supporter database.
• Numerical skills and ability to use Excel and/or PowerBI for tracking, reporting and analysis.
