About the role
Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require vital cornerstone funding and are seeking to establish a Major Gifts function, to secure donations from high-net worth individuals, that will enable us to achieve our mission and help thousands of women to transform their lives.
This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Director of Partnerships, you will work closely with the CEO, Board, and our network of 750 volunteers, to develop a giving strategy that will engage and grow a new pool of crucial supporters for Smart Works.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, as well as conducting prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship materials, and securing five-figure and six-figure repeat gifts.
We seek an excellent communicator, with significant experience in influencing, negotiating and exceeding set targets. Creativity, an understanding of women’s fashion, and knowledge of wealth circles would also be advantageous.

The Fundraising and Partnerships team are based in London. This is a hybrid role, working from a London centre at least twice per week, with the opportunity to work across our North, West and South London centres. Some evening and weekend work is required to lead on philanthropic fundraising and support wider partnership team events.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, the successful candidate will:
- Lead the development and delivery of a giving programme, building a pipeline and carrying out proactive prospect research
- Secure five-figure and six-figure multi-year gifts from major donors, to exceed income targets
- Research and identify prospective major donors who could support Smart Works, through existing warm networks and via outreach to cold audiences
- Work collaboratively across teams and functions to produce creative and compelling propositions and materials to secure both core and restricted funding
- Represent Smart Works to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness
- Develop cultivation events considering regional hotspots
- Acknowledge, thank and recognize donors appropriate to their level of support and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
- Manage donor database and reporting
- Support Smart Works’ local centres across the UK and share learnings and guidance to help others build their Major Gifts potential
Skills, knowledge and personal attributes
Essential Criteria
- A track record of cultivating strong and positive relationships with multiple, senior and high-net worth individuals
- Demonstrable experience of making the ask, and an ability to support senior staff, volunteers and trustees to do so
- Interpersonal verbal communication and presentation skills, in order to foster strong relationships with donors and networks alike
- Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact
- Proactive, ambitious team player, able to work from own initiative

The Role
You will build trust with people the charity is sharing a story on behalf of and foster lasting relationships. You will manage media contacts, seeking out relevant opportunities in the press and work with partners on features.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead on storytelling - writing effective and powerful stories to meet the needs of different functions, including fundraising materials, direct marketing, social media, sector reports and events, press opportunities, website features and publications.

We are a small, highly experienced team who share a passion to support the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people across Surrey. This is a key new role in the Major Relationships unit to support the CEO and Major Relationships Lead in major donor fundraising, an area which has grown in recent years. Responsibilities
1. Research

Identify and prioritise potential major donor prospects in Surrey and beyond, who would be capable of making significant contributions and seem likely to have the propensity to donate i.e. to become major donors.

Produce high quality, tailored and insightful research on major donors.

Look at current supporters (all different types/levels) with good contacts/connections/networks and conduct research in order to suggest ways to reach new high net worth individuals across Surrey.
2. Event organisation/co-ordination

Organise/coordinate internal and externally run events such as dinners, drinks receptions, sporting events.

Attend key events - approx. 5 each year and sometimes evenings/weekends – welcoming guests and ensuring a positive experience.

Join the CEO and/or the Major Relationships Lead at specific meetings with MDs/MDPs, occasionally evenings/weekends.
3. Admin

Day-to-day support for MDs, MDPs and key influencers (KIs) which could include:

General stewardship including thanking and processing information on Sharepoint and Donorfy (Eikon’s database).

Regular communication including calls, meetings and sharing reports, presentations and other updates.

Database admin, including checking opportunity pipelines and reporting requirements.

Supporting individuals or small groups who are fundraising for us e.g. how to set up and promote a JustGiving page.
4. Marketing, Communications and relationships

Support and liaise with the Marketing and Communications team to deliver relevant and effective content and materials, as well as maximising social media opportunities.

Co-ordinate communications (including distribution) to all MDs/MDPs/KIs eg CEO Update plus Infographic.

Support the CEO and Major Relationships Lead to further develop good relationships with Eikon’s MDs/MDPs/KIs.

Job Summary
The Philanthropy officer will contribute toward income generation through a portfolio of current trust and foundations, as well as by researching and engaging new opportunities across the philanthropy team.
Job Purpose
After a recent strategy review, the Philanthropy team is looking for a new Philanthropy Officer. The philanthropy team consists of a Senior Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Manager and Director of Income, and sits within a wider team responsible for Income generation. Among other tasks, the successful candidate will take the lead on a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, which give at a level of up to £50,000.
The post-holder will have responsibility for small trusts mailings (postal and email) and online applications through funder websites under the guidance of the Senior Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Manager. The postholder will also be responsible for researching new and existing prospects and opportunities across the philanthropy team, using tools such as GrantFinder, writing reports for small trusts and foundations, and supporting events and donor meetings.
Whilst we begin to enjoy increasing support from Trusts and Foundations, we currently have a limited number of individual major donors, and are actively working to increase donors in both areas. While experience in fundraising is not necessary, we are looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to build on their writing and engagement skills and to support the team in building an individual donor pipeline and develop relationships with new trust, as well as maintaining existing relationships through communications and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for a personal portfolio of donors, primarily Trusts and Foundations, giving at a level of up to £50,000;
- Responsibility, alongside the rest of the philanthropy team, for an annual income of £3m;
- Proactivity in identifying and researching new prospects and opportunities for the philanthropy team;
- Support with planning events, as well as briefing senior staff on key details and attendees;
- Keeping donors and prospects up to date with scheduled reporting, newsletters and key information about Mental Health Innovations and key projects they support;
- Ad hoc administrative support for the Income Team where required, including responsibility for monitoring and thanking lower level donations.
Essential Criteria
- Strong organisational skills to be able to manage a varied portfolio of up to 150 small trusts and foundations;
- Excellent written skills to be able to write compelling, concise and articulate fundraising applications and reports;
- Competent administrative abilities to be able to keep systems e.g. Salesforce and spreadsheets up to date, alongside using prospecting tools like GrantFinder;
- Exceptional time-management skills to be able to keep on top of all responsibilities outlined above;
- Excellent relationship management skills via phone, in person, and in writing;
- Strong communications skills and the ability to write and speak persuasively about Mental Health Innovation’s important work;
- Ability to distil complex data and statistics into comprehensive, clear reports for donors and prospects.
Desirable Criteria
- An understanding of philanthropy CRM systems and search portals including Salesforce and Grantfinder;
- Experience of working as a team;
- Understanding of the charity sector and funding processes.

The Role
We are seeking a driven, talented, energetic and creative individual for the role of Director of Development. This is a one-year maternity cover post.
In this role, you will work closely with and report to the Principal and Chief Executive and will be responsible for implementing and delivering a comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategy for LAMDA.
You will lead and deliver major gift campaigns, including the biennial Gala, to ensure the sustainability and success of LAMDA as the world’s leading centre for drama training. With the ability to work collegiately and collaboratively with all staff and stakeholders, you will have demonstrable experience in implementing and delivering a successful major fundraising strategy.
To be successful, you will be confident and proactive, a verbal and written communicator and a skilled networker with a very strong track record of relationship building. Additionally, you will have proven experience of working in a senior fundraising role in the arts, higher education or charity sector.
In this role, you will work 35 hours per week (9.30 am – 5.30 pm), Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work outside these hours to attend events and productions in accordance with business needs.
