We are seeking a new Finance and Administration Officer following the upcoming retirement of a long-serving team member. A key member of the SLA central office team, the Finance and Administration Officer plays a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations and providing essential administrative support for our membership. In addition to administration support, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, book-keeping and effective day-to-day financial operations, producing financial reports using XERO and our CRM.

You will be experienced in financial and administration operations of a charity or similar , with an AAT qualification or matching worked experience. Familiarity with XERO will be an advantage. You will be able to bring understanding of cashflow and financial analysis of figure, working with accountants as required.

You will also have excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively with all stakeholders from our members, to funders to suppliers. You will be determined and have an excellent eye for financial and administrative detail. Your duties will include general administration and:

Financial operations and record-keeping

• Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate records of all SLA accounts and petty cash; book-keeping
• Process and record all incoming payments, including foreign cheques (into bank account)
• Monitor cashflow and expenditure, keeping track of spending
• Pay invoices upon approval and ensure timely monthly payments (e.g. pensions, HMRC)
• Handle creditor and supplier communications and resolve related issues
• Monitor and follow up on overdue payments with a focus on membership payments

Invoicing and income tracking

• Issue and track membership and subscriber invoices and reminders
• Keep office team informed of payment statuses
• Prepare sales, cost, and profit reports for SLA publications
• Conduct annual publications stock take

Payroll and reporting

• Liaise with the accountant on salary payments; process salary BACS payments
• Support year-end financial reporting by providing necessary documentation to accountants
• Produce regular financial reports and analysis as required
• Supporting preparation of budgets, working with accountants as required

 Event financial administration

• Manage financial aspects of SLA events, particularly the annual conference (e.g., exhibitors, sponsors, and delegates)
• Process and record staff/trustee expense claims
• Support with bookings accommodation and travel for Board meetings

To be successful in this role you should demonstrate:

• Strong experience in financial and office administration
• Knowledge of accounting principles  
• Experience of working with XERO or similar
• Experience of using CRM systems (ideally IMIS)
• Experience of working for a small charity and / or membership association
• Accuracy, numeracy, attention to detail
• Ability to manage own workload, prioritise and meet competing deadlines

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a professional telephone manner to join us as Tele-Fundraising Intern. You will help promote Shelter and enhance our ability to retain our supporters. This is an exciting opportunity and you will play a key part in standing up to the housing emergency.

About the role

You will be the first point of contact for supporters seeking information about Shelter’s work, so will need excellent communication and administrative skills, a real interest in housing issues, as well as an understanding of how the Outbound Supporter Services Team impacts supporter retention. Your day to day work will include calling supporters to welcome them to the organisation and thank them for choosing to support us, undertaking quality control surveys and ensuring supporter data is accurate.

You will promote Shelter, raise awareness of housing and homelessness issues and enhance our ability to retain our supporters. You will respond to enquiries about Shelter’s work and action supporter requests. You will maintain accurate supporter records and liaise with other departments to ensure changes are actioned, as well as handling complaints about services and fundraising activity.

The Prison Phoenix Trust

The PPT are the leading experts in yoga and meditation in prisons in the UK and Ireland. Since 1988 we have supported the personal development and rehabilitation people living in prison through meditation and yoga. We do this through 121 mentoring, group yoga classes, peer support newsletters and resources such as books and DVDs that help people practise yoga and meditation in their cells. We deliver the British Wheel of Yoga’s accredited training Teaching Yoga in Prison.

A small staff and volunteer team based in Oxford works with a network of self-employed yoga and meditation teachers across the UK and Ireland.

This new role is part of an expansion of the staff team to build the capacity of the charity to meet the growing demands for its services and the income to support this.

The role

At an exciting time for the expansion of the charity’s fundraising activities, the Development Coordinator will play a pivotal role in driving and expanding the charity’s income from individual donors while leading the development and execution of community fundraising initiatives and events. This role is pivotal in building and nurturing long-term relationships with individual donors, cultivating new donor prospects, and developing innovative community engagement strategies, working with The PPT’s Development Lead.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and passionate professional with expertise in donor relations, event management, and community fundraising. They will be skilled at creating impactful experiences that inspire both individual and collective action, making a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.

Responsibilities

1. Individual Fundraising
Innovate and implement a donor acquisition strategy appropriate for the values of The PPT.

• Implement an audience segmentation approach to building individual, regular and legacy giving, drawing on accurate analysis of data, using The PPT’s Access database.
• Project manage delivery of quarterly postal appeals including segmentation and targeting of messaging, mail-merge and printing, dispatch by volunteers or mailing house.
• Email marketing, including use of Mailchimp to segment audiences and target messages.
• Optimise The PPT’s use of JustGiving and other fundraising platforms, regularly reviewing performance.
• Optimise fundraising functionality of The PPT’s website and support colleagues in the development and procurement of a new website.

2. Community fundraising

• Manage and plan the growth of The PPT’s community fund raising activities, with a particular focus on yoga groups and faith groups.
• Review and develop cost-effective levels of support for fundraisers.

3. Donor care:

• Manage relationships with current and prospective donors and fundraisers by ensuring timely acknowledgment of gifts.
• Refine use of automated systems, such as Mailchimp and JustGiving to automate acknowledgement of gifts where appropriate, while ensuring optimum levels of personalisation, such as hand-written cards and notes.  Fulfil established donor journeys, ensuring donor led and annual stewardship is met.

4. Data management, analysis and reporting

• Maintain and update The PPT’s supporter database, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.  Initially using Access and adapt with the move to a new database/CRM programme.
• Track, monitor and report quarterly on results of FR activities
• Support colleagues in the development and procurement of a new database and/or customer relationship management system.

5. Event Coordination

• Plan and project manage delivery of The PPT’s public facing, fundraising and donor stewardship events including planning, promotion, logistics, and follow-up.
• Integrate donor care into event planning, ensuring that donors feel personally valued and appreciated before, during, and after events.
• Work with Communications Coordinator in producing printed and display materials for events.
• Plan and project-manage delivery of The PPT’s presence at networking events for example in yoga, faith and criminal justice communities.

6. Communications and Marketing

• Contribute to development of social media audiences to meet charity’s profile-raising and fundraising objectives.
• Craft compelling messages and content for supporter communications that highlight The PPT’s mission and impact.

• Proven fundraising experience, especially in individual giving (e.g., regular giving, legacies, donor stewardship, direct mail, online fundraising
• Knowledge of best practices and ethical standards in fundraising, with a strong focus on donor care
• Expertise in using Excel and Access to analyse and report on fundraising data

Some key responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement our People & Culture strategy, goals and annual delivery plan 
• Oversee all internal D&I initiatives including the D&I working group, point of contact for affinity group and all D&I training
• Line manage the People Team to achieve high performance of both the team and organisation
• Play a proactive role as a member of the Leadership Group and Operations team to champion high performance and our culture – supporting colleagues wherever priorities are identified, and the need is greatest

We’d like to see applicants who have experience leading and managing a HR team, who are able to empower, motivate and set strategic direction towards organisational goals. You will have strong knowledge and understanding of all areas of HR, able to build strong relationships and an ability to apply employment law in a pragmatic way to deliver principled solutions.

International Events Manager

Position Objective:

To help manage and coordinate PETA and PETA entities’ Fundraising Events Department

Hybrid. Regular visits to the London office as needed.

Salary:

£34,000 - £38,000

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist the Assistant Director and Director, International Fundraising, with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fundraising Events Department

• Plan, organise, manage, and attend fundraising events held by PETA and PETA entities

• Exercise a lead role in overseeing aspects of PETA and PETA entity fundraising events, both in-person and virtual

• Ensure that event projects remain on schedule and deadlines are met

• Develop relations with event vendors and negotiate contracts and costs to ensure the best possible value

• Analyse data and evaluate events in order to implement strategy to improve event effectiveness

• Oversee the production of invitations, mailings, acknowledgement letters, awards, and other event-related materials

• Oversee the coordination of presentation material, including the creation of scripts and PowerPoint presentations

• Oversee the solicitation of donations and coordinate the production of gift bag materials

• Establish and maintain good communication and relationships with PETA donors and individuals at all levels of PETA and PETA entities

• Manage and track event RSVPs using PETA entities' donor databases and other tracking documents

• Manage event inventory and the shipping, receiving, and storage of event supplies

• Recruit and manage volunteers for events

• Collect and maintain event data, including costs, revenue, and confidential donor information

• Assist the department director and associate director in taking a lead role in the training of new hires in all event planning and departmental aspects

• Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and experience:

• Demonstrable event planning experience

• Proven experience with data entry and database maintenance systems

• Proficiency with a variety of Microsoft Office programs

• Proven exceptional oral and written communication and negotiation skills

• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

• Proven ability to establish priorities, organise tasks, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines

• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Professional appearance

• Ability and willingness to travel

• Must have a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record

The Woodland Trust is looking for a PR Officer to help us develop our PR campaigns to help raise awareness of our brand and inspire people with our work.

The Role: 
•    You’ll be responsible for all our regional PR and sector press activity.
•    You’ll manage media relationships and collaborate with comms leads across the UK to deliver this work.
•    You’ll deliver PR campaigns and be responsible for press delivery.
•    You’ll support senior PR officers with filming and national news opportunities.
•    You’ll brief and support internal spokespeople with media opportunities when required.
•    You’ll manage and respond to media inbox enquiries.
•    You’ll create comprehensive reporting and learnings on PR activity.
•    You’ll conduct daily horizon scanning and alert the PR Manager and wider team to relevant news.
•    This role is a part time role working 30 hours per week.
•    This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Visits to Grantham would be required no more than once a month on average.

The Candidate:

•    You’ll have experience leading and delivering PR activity.
•    You’ll have a good understanding of brand image and the importance of consistency in PR campaigns.
•    You’ll have experience writing press releases and developing PR assets.

•    You’ll have experience working in a busy press office environment and responding to incoming enquiries.
•    You’ll have strong collaboration skills with the ability to work with internal stakeholders to deliver PR activity.
•    You’ll be qualified in PR, Communications or relevant degree or equivalent on the job experience.
