This is a rare opportunity to lead our Support & Communities teams who provide direct support, practical guidance and other patient focused activities to over 1500 members and their families, UK-wide, whose lives are affected by MPS, Fabry and related diseases.

Our Support Team raise awareness both within the MPS community and external agencies, offering information, advice, support, and advocacy in a range of areas including health and social care, housing, education, transition, independent living, palliative care, and bereavement.  Our Projects and Communities team contribute to the development of our resources and facilitate project work such as youth engagement, advisory boards, and support groups, as well as leading on support focused social media.

Ideal candidate

As Head of Support & Communities, you will exhibit strong leadership skills and have significant experience working within a health and social care or relevant field of work.  You will have an in-depth understanding of the needs of those with disabilities, their families and carers. 

You will primarily be responsible for the overall management and development of the teams and the services they provide. As the company safeguarding lead you will have an in-depth understanding of policy and procedure to protect all.  You will be a relationship builder who cares about the community we serve and ensures that the individual (or family) remains at the centre of support. 

You will have a good understanding of managing budgets and able to produce accurate monitoring/evaluation reports. Excellent IT skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver to tight timescales are essential.  You will be self-motivated and highly organised, juggling many strands of work. 

As a team player, you will demonstrate a willingness to participate in the day-to-day activities of the team, have excellent staff management and development skills along with the confidence to motivate and inspire. 

You will have the passion to work with us to develop our services, play an active role in our senior leadership team and work with members and other key departments to move the charity forward to achieve its goals.

This is an essential car user post. The applicant must hold a current UK driver’s licence, with no more than 6 points, have access to a car and be able and willing to drive UK wide as required.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in our Amersham office each week. As part of the role, UK wide travel is necessary. which may on occasion include early morning and/or evening working and sometimes overnight stays.  You may also occasionally be required to attend evening or weekend conferences and events. We have policies in place to ensure that any unsociable hours worked are fairly compensated.

This is a full-time role (35 hrs per week) however part time hours, with a minimum of 28 hrs per week may be agreed for the right candidate.  Salary will be pro-rata for part-time.

About the role

To help drive fundraising, we’re creating a new senior role: Supporter and Community Engagement Lead. The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will monitor and map the criminal justice policy landscape, tracking developments across the system. They will engage with MPs, civil servants and key stakeholders, bringing evidence from our membership and the voices of those impacted directly by the criminal justice system to government to influence change.

The postholder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated evidence of impact in policy and public affairs. They should be confident in building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, be a collaborative and inspiring team player, show commitment to our values and share a passion for the CJA’s vision and mission.

Main responsibilities

Public Affairs (50% time)

• Develop and implement the CJA’s public affairs and influencing strategy to advance the CJA's objectives.
• Work with CJA members on influencing specific legislation, including campaigning around bills, writing amendments, and working with MPs and Peers to promote them within the legislative process.
• Stakeholder engagement (Parliament): Build and maintain relationships with key policy makers and parliamentarians through face-to-face meetings, providing briefings to MPs and Lords for Parliamentary debates, preparing written/oral questions, and attending Select Committees, APPGs, Parliamentary receptions and other relevant roundtables and events.
• Stakeholder engagement (other): Build and maintain relationships with other key stakeholders, including Police & Crime Commissioners, the Victims Commissioner, HM Inspectorates, civil servants, and other relevant bodies.

Policy and Research (40% time)

• Monitor policy and political debates and developments on criminal justice issues, horizon-scanning emerging policy issues, and where appropriate, disseminate and brief colleagues and CJA members.
• Maintain a repository of evidence briefings from CJA members.
• Identify proactive and reactive opportunities to promote and embed CJA and members recommendations and research.
• Produce high quality and influential policy briefs, reports, position papers, and responses to consultations, to advocate for changes in policy and practice put forward by CJA members.
• Lead on the monitoring of policy engagement and impact by using our evaluation tools and work with external evaluators as required to capture impact and utilise learning.
• Work with CJA members, people directly impacted by the justice system and other key stakeholders to harness and amplify their expertise and insights.
• Lead the co-ordination and establishment of member expert groups to inform our policy work.
• Develop opportunities for joint working with researchers / research organisations and manage that partnership work, including co-ordinating the CJA research symposium.

Other (10% time)

• Work with the Communications and Engagement Manager to respond to media and other communication opportunities to promote the CJA’s work and to contribute to national debate on criminal justice issues.

• Support the Communications and Engagement Manager to develop content for the website and other internal and external communications, such as blogs and articles.

Forward Thinking is a London-based NGO specialising in conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and political dialogue across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. The Middle East Programme Officer will support the delivery and development of our Middle East Programme, which aims to facilitate inclusive dialogue and conflict resolution in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, working with political and religious leaders to build a sustainable peace.

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills 

• Native English speaker. Bilingual Arabic speaker desirable but not essential. 

• Preferably London-based. Potential for hybrid working subject to circumstances.

About the role

The Executive Assistant is responsible for the efficient running of the Director’s Office and providing excellent administrative support and project coordination for the Director and EIC Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including document editing, key meeting coordination and recording, and liaison with teams across Shelter. The postholder will help ensure effective communication and collaboration between the SLT, other managers and people in the Directorate. 

Role specifics

We’re looking for someone to provide high-level support to the Director and Senior Leadership Team, acting as the first point of contact for the Director’s office and managing a busy inbox and diary. You’ll lead and support a range of quality and process improvement projects, help coordinate key activities, and ensure everything runs smoothly – from handling correspondence, preparing agendas and board papers, to drafting communications and booking travel. For the wider leadership team, you'll prepare high-quality documents and presentations, manage systems like SharePoint and the intranet, and ensure meetings and away days are well-organised and productive. You'll help monitor progress against strategic objectives, maintain the Directorate Risk Register, and keep projects on track and within budget.

About the role

We are recruiting a Project & Outreach Manager to help raise the profile and accessibility of NCT Walk & Talk across England supporting volunteers to leverage NCT’s existing local networks and encouraging take up in new areas. 

Funded by Sport England, as part of an ambitious programme of change for NCT Walk & Talk, this post will be responsible for increasing the number of walks taking place and the number of new and expectant parents engaging with this service. This is a key role under the ‘More Parents, More Impact pillar of our For Every Parent 2023-28 strategy which will support NCT's focus on tackling health inequalities, enabling parents to create connections and build local, supportive communities.
