Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide operational leadership and oversight of the Carers Manchester Volunteer Programme and support the wider development of the Volunteer Programme at Gaddum. Day Care Officer – Day Care Centres 

Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit a Day Care Officer to cover 15 hours a week in shifts (3 x 5 hours) across our two Day Care Centres.

About Alexandra Rose Charity 

Founded by Queen Alexandra in 1912, Alexandra Rose Charity (ARC) has a long history of supporting people experiencing poverty in the UK. Our vision is for everyone to have access to healthy and affordable food, and our mission is to give families on low incomes access to fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities whilst advocating for systemic change to address food insecurity and health inequalities.
Since 2014, ARC has pioneered the use of financial incentives to improve access to healthy food and combat food insecurity through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects. To date, we have supported over 11,000 families, including over 20,000 children, to access £3.5 million of fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities.
To deliver this scale, we work with 73 children and family centres and community organisations, 69 market traders and independent retailers, two fruit and vegetable vans and one fruit and vegetable delivery box scheme. We estimate that our projects have generated a total economic value added of almost £9 million for the local economies of the eight locations where we work: five London Boroughs, Barnsley, Liverpool and Glasgow.

About the role
ARC is a data-rich organisation, having made significant progress in our data analytics activities in recent years. The Spear Centre Manager will work as part of the River Church staff team to oversee the delivery of Spear—an employability programme equipping and empowering unemployed 16-24 year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

Salary: Up to £27,222 pro rata

Hours: Part-Time, 4 days; 9.30am-5.30pm with some out-of-hours work needed for events such as our Spear Celebrations

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the Spear Programme

Spear Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions plus a 1:1 with each trainee per week, in which we coach young people around skills and mindsets to support them in returning to work or education, and equip them with the skills to stay there. ​

• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
• Oversee all aspects of the programme coordination and delivery.
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report to Resurgo and the church on enrolment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees, as well as their ongoing progress.

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Build and implement a strategy for developing and maintaining relationships with local referral partners to build the profile of the Spear programme within Ipswich and ensure the young people who would benefit from the programme are able to access it.
• Steward relationships with young people after initial point of contact, to encourage enrolment and ensure a full cohort is enrolled for each programme.

Line management and training

• Manage the Spear Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
• Work with and be managed by River Church staff locally, and by a Church Partnerships Manager from Resurgo on a national level, to ensure the flourishing of the Spear centre, its team and young people, and to ensure the fulfilment of our shared mission in Ipswich.
• Work with and report to Resurgo teams on KPIs, and use outcomes data to maximise the effectiveness of the programme.

Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry

• Establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement of church members and to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme, though it is not a requirement of the role for the successful candidate to join River Church as their worshipping community if they are already part of another local church
• Work with the Head of Operations and the Fundraising Assistant to prepare grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
• Keep the River Church congregation updated on the Spear programme to ensure it is a seamless part of the church’s missional work.

The Lead Practitioner will play a key role in supporting the Approved Premises (AP) Managers in the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and rehabilitation opportunities for residents. This includes overseeing staff support, organising shift coverage, coordinating training, and maintaining strong relationships with external partners. The role requires a proactive approach to resident engagement, activity planning, and staff development while working a variety of shifts, including weekends and late shifts.

The candidate will be required to work across two sites in Leeds.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Support & Rota Management

• Assist the AP Manager in organising and ensuring appropriate rota coverage, including managing last-minute changes.
• Provide day-to-day support to support staff, ensuring clear communication and guidance.
• Disseminate relevant information to staff to ensure smooth service operation.
• Support AP manager to develop good practice across the teams.

Training & Development

• Ensure new team members receive appropriate induction and training.
• Deliver training sessions, including First Aid and other relevant development opportunities.
• Support continuous professional development for staff, ensuring a skilled and competent workforce.
• Co-ordinate the submission of Enabling Environments on-going award process.
• Support the AP manager in preparing for HMIP Inspections.

Meetings & Partnership Working

• Attend and contribute to Equality, Inclusion, and Diversity (EID) meetings and other relevant meetings as required by the AP Manager, within the MOJ
• Liaise with partner organisations, building and maintaining strong links with the local community to enhance support services.

Resident Engagement & Activities

• Liaise with the AP Manager and Activities co-ordinators to ensure a full calendar of activities is available for residents, promoting engagement and rehabilitation.
• Manage the activity calendar, coordinating and overseeing planned events and programmes.

Shift & Working Hours

• Work a variety of shifts to support service needs, including two weekend days per month and four late shifts per month.
• Provide hands-on support within the AP, ensuring a visible leadership presence.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Experience working within a criminal justice, supported housing or rehabilitation setting.
• Previous experience in a leadership or senior role within a similar setting.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to build effective partnerships with external organisations and community groups.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage staff and residents effectively.
• A flexible and adaptable approach to shift work, including weekends and late shifts.
• Due to safeguarding purposes, we can only accept applications from female applicants.

• Relevant qualifications in criminal justice or social care or a related field.

About the Role

The Lead Lawyer - Africa Death Penalty Team is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. 

Our casework includes work on appeals to the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in the context of historic denials of a right to appeal and related contextual challenges; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing, as well as supporting on individual strategic resentencing cases; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter. Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £52,088 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel and work outside of core office hours from time to time.
