Role Overview

As a member of the Joint Leadership Team, the post-holder will contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet the charity’s strategic objectives. Specifically, they will lead projects and programmes to deliver improvements in quality and standards of health services for people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis. In doing so, they will work closely with not only the  Director of Services & Evidence and Heald of Health Services, but also external stakeholders including health and social care organisations, academics, researchers and other charities.  The post-holder will also be actively involved in leading, supporting and developing the Health Services team.

About You

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience of delivering health service projects and programmes and have come from a health services or medical charity background. You will be adept at developing operational performance metrics, strategies and objectives and have a proven track record in developing strong working relationships with external stakeholders. Whilst not essential, experience of managing and leading a team would be beneficial, as would be an awareness and knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.

Our Location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home,  although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences. You will be required to attend two Directorate days each year and occasional face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.

Media Manager

The Role

The Media Manager plays a central role at our charity, working closely with the Head of Media and Media Officer to manage the public relations function. You will be responsible for helping to develop and execute national and regional media campaigns to help people better understand our mission and motivate support.

The role is a hybrid of office and home working, requiring occasional meetings in the midlands and/or London. The frequency and location of meetings can be flexible, depending on the location and preferences of the successful candidate.

Main duties include:

• Generate regular, positive, proactive and reactive media coverage for the charity

• Proactively sell stories into the media as well as react to incoming enquiries

• Work with the Head of Media to develop and deliver impactful PR strategies

• Manage, develop and support the Media and Communications Officer

Working with our Communications and Health Liaison Manager, we are looking for a team player with great communication skills and positive energy, to contribute to our social media presence, help create engaging content, answer member queries via social media, and help to continue to grow our online community.

The ADSHG is a well-established UK charity supporting people with Addison’s and adrenal insufficiency through its website, social media reach and member services.   Addison’s disease is a form of adrenal insufficiency and is a rare endocrine condition affecting 1:10,000, and both genders. Whilst treatable with time-critical daily medication, individuals with adrenal insufficiency are at risk of potentially life-threatening adrenal crisis, which occurs when physical or emotional triggers mean that prescribed medication no longer meets the body’s need for cortisol.  Adrenal crisis is a medical emergency and can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated in a short period of time.  Addison's and adrenal insufficiency are not widely understood, even within the medical community.     

Social Media

Our social media reach has grown steadily over the years, and, thanks to thoughtful content promoting audience engagement, it currently stands at a reach of over 31,000 across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X and with a growing reach on BlueSky.   Our audience consists of our members and non-members with a diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency, their carers and supporters, and healthcare professionals.

We use Loomly to help organise and schedule our posts, aiming to post at least 3 times a week.  Our community respond particularly well to both educational and emotive topics, but we aim to keep a good diversity between the focus of posts, and will include fundraising, news, updates, shop alerts, educational articles, member information etc.

About this role

At SPANA, we support a network of global partners working through both a short- term small grants and long- term programmes – known as our Senior Partners. Senior Partners represent key strategic investments in our mission to enhance working animal welfare. We are seeking a dedicated Foundation Manager to oversee the operational and strategic management of the James Marshall Foundation.

The JMF has an endowment and as such, our focus is on the effective distribution of funds to support our objectives and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the charity.

The Foundation Manager is responsible for, amongst other things, managing the grant process, overseeing financial stewardship (including in respect of the foundation’s properties), supporting the trustees, fulfilling compliance and reporting obligations, and maintaining the visibility of JMF with local schools and other relevant bodies. The Foundation Manager will manage a team of 3 part-time Foundation Associates.

The role is based in our office in Harpenden, with the expectation of hours being 28–30 hours a week on a minimum of 4 days. Attendance at some evening meetings will be required.
Salary: £45–50,000 FTE

You’ll plan and deliver targeted campaigns, build partnerships that strengthen engagement, and create tailored content that helps teachers and school leaders get the most from Oak. You’ll also contribute to in-product messaging and improvements that deepen user engagement.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who understands what drives adoption, loves working across teams, and is motivated by meaningful impact in schools.

What you'll be doing

• Manage the planning, delivery and evaluation of marketing and School Support campaigns and communications that drive the growth of users on Oak. 

• Build and manage important partnerships to improve how we attract, support and retain teachers on Oak’s products.

• Develop tailored marketing content and in-product developments to engage and build advocacy amongst teachers and school leaders.

• As a member of the Oak Team, contribute to the planning and culture of the organisation.

• Work in cross-functional and product oriented squads with colleagues from across the organisation, as required.

• Deputise for the Lead Product Marketing Manager and Support and take on other general responsibilities as required.

• Hours: 36 hours per week (if full-time – flexible arrangements will be considered. Our core working days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, to allow effective collaboration time with colleagues).

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced corporate fundraising expert to join our dynamic, ambitious team.

A key part of this role will be your ability to identify, explore and develop corporate partnership opportunity, to convert prospects and establish dynamic, mutually beneficially relationships with organisations to support The Children's Society.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

-Relevant experience gained in a new business role, evidencing business development skills having secured £100K+ corporate partnerships

-A successful track record in securing corporate partnerships through individual approaches, utilising advanced influencing, negotiation and communication skills

-Expert knowledge of purpose-led partnerships, corporate partnership and fundraising methodology the CSR/ESG market and overall understanding of wider relationship fundraising audiences and methodologies, and all legal and regulatory issues surrounding corporate/charity partnerships

-Experience of having secured a variety of corporate partnerships such as philanthropic, commercial (brand collaborations - CRM's, sponsorship, use of IP etc), engagement, strategic.

-Ability to influence and persuade in a medium/large complex organisation

-Experience of coaching or line managing colleagues to succeed
