An exciting opportunity for an experienced Corporate Fundraising Manager has arisen at World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF); the UK’s leading cancer prevention charity focusing on the link between cancer and risk factors such as diet, body weight and physical activity. 

We are seeking an outstanding corporate fundraising professional to join our Fundraising Development team. This is a key role for the organisation, proactively leading on new business; delivering mid and high-value partnerships and maintaining a healthy and active pipeline of new prospects to support the long-term sustainability of our work. The successful candidate will develop compelling proposals and pitches to build new relationships and provide excellent stewardship for existing corporate partners. The Restart Project helps people transform their relationship with electronics by supporting groups to teach repair at community events, developing fixing spaces and campaigning for a Right to Repair and better waste policy. We are looking for a strong project manager to be our new Fixing Factory Co-Lead.

What is a Fixing Factory? Fixing Factories do what they say on the tin! We help people fix their broken electricals and learn new fixing skills, shifting us from our current take-make-waste linear system towards a repair economy fit for the future. They generate public interest in repair. Through a series of stepping stone activities, we take people from never having looked inside an electrical item towards, if they wish, fixing for others. 

The Fixing Factories is a partnership between The Restart Project and Possible, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. It launched in April 2022 with two initial sites in Brent (now closed) and Camden. After the initial development grant we secured funding to continue the Camden site, and open and mature three additional sites in London, including one which has already opened in Hackney, with a proportion of our focus being on long-term financial self-sustainability and scaling the model across the UK. The Restart Project is leading on the delivery of two sites, one in Hackney and another future London location (4th site), whilst Possible lead on the established Fixing Factory in Camden and an upcoming Haringey site.

Each new Fixing Factory site will grow and nurture a community of repairers, be strongly linked with local residents and stakeholders, and be driven by engaged teams of volunteers. There will be a range of offers; from free community repair events to paid workshops and retail - as we develop a replicable model which will support our long term goal of ‘a Fixing Factory in every high street’. 

About the role

The focus of this role will be overseeing the Hackney Fixing Factory, launching a 4th site (subject to funding), and working with existing repair group communities, the council, and other partners in those areas. You will be bringing to life an already developed business model, ensuring that the Fixing Factories are run in a safe, effective and financially sustainable way, as well as responding to the needs of the community and continuing to strategically develop the Fixing Factories programme.

You will be working with the Fixing Factory workshop managers, who are responsible for day to day operations at the sites, ensuring income generation targets are being met, driving the development of our accredited skills and training programme with support from consultants and ensuring the Fixing Factories are scalable and replicable.

• Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models for planning purposes
• Assist with statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors
• Prepare and issue sales invoices, ensuring compliance with commissioner and funder requirements
• Manage debtors and support cashflow forecasting and reporting
• Provide financial insights and business partnering support to budget holders and operational teams
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and charity accounting standards (SORP)
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including enhancing reporting systems and tools
• Prepare accurate reports for commissioners, funders, and grant managers to meet contractual obligations

Ideal candidate profile:

• CCAB-Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA)
• Strong background in management accounting, reporting, and financial analysis
• Knowledge of charity finance regulations and funder compliance requirements
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Organised, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities

The role

Due to the continued expansion and sustainability of our programmes, we are seeking a new team member to support our next period of growth in the new 2025-2026 academic year.

You will be a consumate account manager to support our skills and employability programmes designed in partnership with industry. You will work collaboratively with our corporate and industry partners to support teachers and students in schools and further education institutions access a range of TTF educational programmes.

• Management of multiple projects and events
• Team management to deliver programmes (proven experience of line managing direct reports)
• Building exceptional relationships with partners, teachers and volunteers
• Use systems and administrative processes
• Evaluation and reporting

To succeed in this role you will be an individual who thrives in a fast-paced working environment, be highly organised, a professional communicator, and not be fazed when you need to adapt your plans to meet schools’ needs (you will always have a plan B).

*Hybrid working

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home and will join our Team Together Days in a co-working space in London a min of 1 a month, up to a max of 3 per month. These days are considered commuting days. You do not need to live in London to apply for this role, but you will need to consider what you feel is a reasonable commuting distance and to be able to attend our team days in London. The Benefits Service within South East London Mind is a well-established offer of support to clients who need to access welfare benefits they are entitled to receive. The service currently provides casework support for people who need to challenge benefits decisions across the three boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich. There is also a cross-area team of volunteers who assist with form filling and all aspects of the assessment process.

We are looking for a Benefits Service Manager with significant experience of working within welfare benefits. You will have a good understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems and the links with welfare issues. You will take responsibility for the quality of support the team deliver to ensure it is robust and accountable. We hope to be able to extend our offer of support in the future so it will be important you have an interest in developing the service.

Applicants should have previous experience of thinking strategically to develop a service and of managing a team to deliver the support. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative is essential for this role.  

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.
