The role:

This is a key role within the Executive Leadership team, with accountability for Finance, Procurement and IT at the Globe. Asset managers, insurance companies and banks hold a huge amount of influence over the world’s largest companies through their investment, lending and underwriting activities. While many of these financial institutions publicly claim to be taking environmental and social issues seriously, often, these claims do not hold up to scrutiny.

• Our financial sector benchmarks. In the first 12 months, you would primarily be working on our 2026 benchmark of some of the world’s largest insurance companies (following our 2024 report). Our research also covers asset managers and banks.

• Engagement with financial institutions, regulators, and industry bodies to provide detailed recommendations for improvement.

Casework provision

Mind in Enfield and Barnet is a fast-growing charity in North London providing much needed therapy, wellbeing support and advocacy services to people with mental health problems. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Community Care Coordinators to support some of our most vulnerable users of emergency services. • Represent AWN at relevant networking events, conferences, and meetings to promote the interests of our member organisations.

Resource Development: 

• Create and disseminate practical resources, toolkits, and guides to support charities. 

• Develop materials that highlight successful case studies and best practices within the sector. 

Monitoring and Evaluation: 

• Implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of fundraising efforts and support provided. 

• Collect and analyse data to track progress and make informed recommendations for improvement. 

Communication and Reporting: 

• Prepare regular reports on activities, outcomes, and impacts for internal and external stakeholders. 

• Maintain clear and consistent communication with a network of service users/charities to ensure their needs are met and feedback is integrated.

Qualifications and Experience: 

• At least 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, grant management or not-for-profit management. 

• Proven track record or strong knowledge of successful grant writing and fundraising initiatives. 

• Strong understanding of the funding landscape and the unique challenges faced by charities serving Muslim communities. 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. 

• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training and capacity-building programs. 

• Proficiency in using digital tools for remote work and virtual collaboration. 

• Commitment to AWN’s mission and values, with a proactive and results-oriented approach. 

• Excellent written skills. 

• Comfortable in public speaking. 

• Proactive in creating and developing this role. Can confidently work independently. 

• Ideally the person should live in or the surrounding areas of London. We currently don't have an office space but we are forming a London team.

About the Role

The Lead Lawyer - Africa Death Penalty Team is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. 

Our casework includes work on appeals to the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in the context of historic denials of a right to appeal and related contextual challenges; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing, as well as supporting on individual strategic resentencing cases; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter. This is an opportunity to join a team that has developed groundbreaking work with great success in getting people off death row, making significant contribution to legal reforms and towards abolition.

Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £52,088 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel and work outside of core office hours from time to time.

We are looking to recruit a Funding Officer to join the London, Southeast and East Team, working in the North and West London area.

• As a funding officer you will assess requests for funding and work together with colleagues to make funding decisions.  
• By working closely with people and communities from a defined geographical area, you will understand what matters to them and where our funding can make the biggest difference.
• You will manage grants using local knowledge, best practice, thematic expertise, and the experience of customers and stakeholders to improve our grant making and inform our decision making.
• Being responsible for supporting local people and communities you will have a strong understanding of our vision, our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and our funding products. You’ll also need to support our stakeholders, helping them to make connections that will help them achieve their goals.
