Location: Home-based with frequent travel to internal and external events, networking and other meetings in London and occasionally across the UK. Regular international travel will also be required. All staff meetings are held in our ReStore, Romford.
Job Purpose
To support Habitat for Humanity GB’s (Habitat GB) vision of a decent home for everyone, our National Strategy 2024-2027 identifies two key goals: to (1) ‘develop, pursue and share innovative solutions to increase access to decent, safe, affordable homes for communities across Great Britain’; and to (2) ‘form a diverse coalition that champions the universal right to decent homes and collaborates to implement effective housing solutions for underserved communities worldwide’. The Director of Impact & Influence has responsibilities which contribute to the achievement of both these goals and is accountable for co-leading Goal 2 with the Director of Fundraising & Partnerships. They work collaboratively across the organisation, with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and other Habitat global network members, and with a wide range of external partners.
Key responsibilities include the cultivation and stewardship of FOI (Foundations, Organisations & Institutions) partnerships and funding, leading the achievement of ambitious income targets related to donors based in England, Scotland and Wales on behalf of Habitat GB and the Habitat global network. The Impact & Influence Team also serves as the unit responsible for programme quality and effectiveness across the full lifecycle: from design and innovation, through implementation, to evaluation and learning, including high quality proposal development, robust Monitoring and Evaluation (MEAL) frameworks, grant management policy and process across the organisation, and the direct delivery of reporting and compliance requirements to FOI funders.
The Director of Impact & Influence also leads Habitat GB’s domestic and international advocacy function, leveraging our research and programmatic insights to drive systemic and policy change in line with our mission and strategy. As an external representative, the Director develops Habitat GB’s role as a thought leader to increase our influence on policy & decision makers and credibility with partners, communities and other collaborators.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Director of Impact & Influence helps ensure the impact, sustainability, diligence and productivity of the organisation, including engaging in organisational transformation, within the framework of a values-led approach to people and culture approach.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Organisational Delivery
- Provide strategic leadership for the development and delivery of Habitat GB’s impact and influence agenda, co-leading the achievement of organisational strategic goals, in particular our goal of forming a diverse coalition that champions the universal right to decent homes and collaborates to implement effective housing solutions for underserved communities worldwide.
- Working with the National Director, lead on the development and ongoing review of HFHGB’s National Strategy, as well as our engagement with strategic development at global and regional levels.
- Co-lead Habitat GB’s ambitious funding and partnership strategy in support of impactful domestic and international programme portfolios.
- Shape and drive delivery across Habitat GB’s five strategic enablers, ensuring high-quality programmes, coalitions and networks, organisational visibility, technical leadership, and internal capacity for learning and innovation.
- Lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of a robust organisational performance framework, with monthly/quarterly KPI reporting into SLT and Board governance.
- Cultivate a learning culture that embraces innovation, adapts to external trends, and enhances the organisation’s ability to respond to complex challenges.
- Champion inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive programming, in line with Habitat GB’s mission and values.
Partnership Development & Fundraising
- Lead the development and stewardship of strategic partnerships with Foundations, Organisations and Institutions (FOIs) across England, Scotland, and Wales to secure income and achieve impact targets.
- Be accountable for delivering annual FOI income and pipeline targets agreed in the Performance Framework, including soft‑commitments and conversion, quarterly phasing, proposal volume/quality, and donor reporting timeliness.
- Represent HFHGB in national and international fundraising initiatives, influencing stakeholder engagement on behalf of the global Habitat for Humanity network.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising & Partnerships (F&P) team to develop compelling funding propositions, donor reports, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Jointly develop and lead a resource mobilisation plan with the Directors of Programme Delivery and F&P, aligned with the Habitat GB Domestic Programme Strategy, with agreed annual income and impact targets.
- Build internal capacity across the network to engage with locally based partners, navigating sector themes such as shifting power and decolonisation.
- Identify and lead opportunities for research, consortia collaboration, and development partnerships to enhance programming and learning.
Programme Quality, Proposal Development & Grant Management
- Lead the Impact & Influence team in managing the full programme lifecycle — from strategy and design through delivery, evaluation, and learning.
- Work with technical leads to ensure appropriate inputs throughout the full programme lifecycle, for example in relation to gender, climate and safeguarding.
- Ensure robust programme design, effective MEAL frameworks, and compliance with funder requirements.
- Oversee proposal development and grant management policies and processes to ensure high-quality submissions and timely reporting. Collaborate with other teams for consistent compliance and quality.
- Maintain oversight of programme budgets through design phases, regular reviews and reporting including cost recovery, risk and performance, compliance and other standards.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance, Operations & Compliance to track performance and contribute to high quality reporting, income forecasting and budget management.
- Lead GB adoption of refreshed HFH Core Programming Standards and ensure programme reviews update Habitat GB policies, protocols and practice accordingly.
- Establish and embed MEAL frameworks with Programme Delivery and Retail teams to track outcomes and inform advocacy and fundraising.
- Respond proactively to humanitarian and sector-specific challenges with adaptive programme design and collaboration.
Advocacy & Policy Influence
- Be accountable for the successful delivery of Habitat GB’s domestic and international advocacy strategies, translating programme insights into policy influence and systemic change.
- Represent the organisation in policy forums, coalitions, and sector platforms; strengthen Habitat GB’s role as a thought leader and credible policy influencer with key stakeholders, decision‑makers and communities and elevate HFHGB’s voice in housing and international development.
- Guide the work of UK and Global Advocacy Managers, embedding advocacy as a core mechanism for mission-led impact.
- Strengthen external visibility and influence through partnerships and collaborations aligned with advocacy goals.
Leadership and people management:
- Lead, inspire, and manage a high-performing Impact & Influence team, aligning to Habitat GB’s strategic goals and values.
- Set clear team objectives, KPIs and quality standards, encourage a culture of feedback and collaboration, and support continuous professional development.
- Ensure team activities and performance are effectively resourced and managed within agreed budgets.
- Deliver consistent 1:1s, wellbeing check‑ins, mid‑year and annual reviews; foster a supportive team culture where kindness, ambition, and accountability drive high performance and meaningful impact, through online and in‑person team‑building.
- Role model our values in line with Habitat GB’s inclusive approach to people and culture.
Organisational Leadership:
- Support the National Director in delivering Habitat GB’s strategy and vision acting as a collaborative and supportive member of a shared leadership team.
- As a core member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to cross-organisational strategy, delivery, and decision-making.
- Be an active leader across the organisation, collaborating effectively with teams, and contributing fully to organisational wide initiatives and opportunities.
- Co-create ways of working to enable an adaptive, collaborative and high performing organisational team.
- Represent impact and influence metrics and performance in governance forums, including at Board level.
- Represent Habitat GB externally at senior forums and deputise for the National Director when required.
Person profile:
- Significant senior leadership experience with a strong track record in strategic planning, programme delivery, and team leadership in complex or networked organisations.
- Proven experience in designing and overseeing high-impact programmes, including development and implementation of impact frameworks and MEAL systems.
- Demonstrable success in securing large-scale funding from institutional donors and large trusts and foundations, including leading successful bids and managing multi-sector consortia.
- In-depth knowledge of fundraising strategy and donor engagement across multiple fundraising streams (institutional, philanthropic, etc.).
- Strong financial acumen: business planning, budget management, cost recovery, and oversight of restricted and unrestricted funding.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or contributing to impactful advocacy strategies and engaging with policy and decision-makers.

Job Title: Case Worker – CAPSA Services (Culturally Appropriate Peer Support and Advocacy)

Purpose of the role
The CAPSA (Culturally Appropriate Peer Support and Advocacy) Worker role has been specifically designed to support Black people using the secondary mental health system. As a CAPSA Worker, you will provide both Generic Mental Health Advocacy and Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) to eligible individuals, including people detained under the Mental Health Act(MHA) 1983/2007, conditionally discharged restricted patients, those under Guardianship, and those on Community Treatment orders, as well as individuals considered for section 57 treatments.
You will play a key role in ensuring that the perspectives of Black service users are recognised and respected, addressing their unique and multiple needs, and promoting access to advocacy for all eligible individuals. You will raise awareness of advocacy, rights under the MHA, and the CAPSA service among professionals, individuals, and agencies.
In addition to direct advocacy, you will contribute to service development by supporting an effective administration system and helping evaluate the impact of advocacy for both service users and commissioners.
As part of CAPSA’s race-led approach to systems change, you will also help challenge systemic racism in mental health services, embed culturally competent practice, and promote equitable care within South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM).
Job summary
Black Thrive Lambeth has developed a co-designed, culturally appropriate peer support and advocacy service (CAPSA) on behalf of the Living Well Network Alliance (LWNA). CAPSA provides support to Black community members with mental health needs through peer support and advocacy, led by individuals with lived experience or lived understanding of mental health challenges. The service creates a space where experiences are respected, accepted, and valued equally.
The role involves building positive relationships with Black service users; offering one-to-one and group advocacy; supporting self-advocacy; gathering and sharing information to inform decision-making; and preparing monitoring reports and feedback. Advocates ensure that the views, wishes, and needs of Black service users are heard and acknowledged, addressing the impact of racism within traditional mental health services.
Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Advocacy & Support for Black Service Users
- Work with individual Black service users to provide culturally informed advocacy, support, and representation to assist them in decision-making related to their care, treatment, and legal status.
- You will manage a caseload of up to 10 clients.
- This will consist of weekly meetings with clients and supporting them around their care in the mental health system, this will be both within inpatient services and CMHTs (Community Mental Health Teams) as well as in the community.
- Support Black service users in developing and maintaining their cultural identity by identifying strengths and advocating for culturally relevant mental health interventions.
- Develop trusting relationships with Black service users within appropriate boundaries to help them express their mental health needs.
- Assist service users in preparing for meetings, attend appointments with them if required, and advocate on their behalf where needed.
- Provide information and updates on the progress of advocacy issues and ensure clients understand proceedings.
Culturally Informed Peer Support & Recovery
- Use lived experience and cultural understanding to promote positive self-esteem and recovery through a culturally informed peer support model.
- Provide practical guidance to Black service users, and where appropriate, their carers, on self-care, resilience strategies, and managing mental health within a race equality framework.
- Promote service user involvement by empowering individuals to communicate their culturally lived experiences and mental health needs to professionals.
- Challenge peer support models, stigma, and discriminatory practices that fail to recognise the cultural needs of Black service users.
Community Engagement & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and community members to develop a culturally informed advocacy and peer support model.
- Establish regular advocacy ‘drop-ins’ on wards and in the community, ensuring accessibility for Black service users.
- Signpost service users to culturally relevant community, inpatient, and online resources, as well as mainstream and specialist services.
- Liaise with, and when necessary, challenge NHS professionals, care teams, and local authorities to ensure due process and cultural competence in service delivery.
- To maintain a level of professionalism in all spaces always.
Role Expectations
- Maintain confidentiality, respect service users’ right to privacy, and ensure their dignity is always upheld.
- Keep accurate and timely records of advocacy and peer support work, providing regular verbal and written reports to the line manager.
- Attend team meetings, participate in one-to-one supervision, group supervision sessions, and complete mandatory training in peer support and other job-related areas.
- Raise safeguarding concerns following organisational policies and procedures.

- To attend and participate in meetings held by the CAPSA team and other bodies as required.
- To maintain records of hours worked and to complete accurate expense returns.

What is the role?
As the Schools & Community Fundraiser, you will be working as part of the Fundraising Team to meet organisational income targets. You will have responsibility for the co-ordination, organisation, and evaluation of existing schools fundraising events within agreed levels of income & expenditure.
You will be expected to foster and grow our links with educational establishments, the wider community across Lanarkshire and 3rd party supporters. This will involve working with all Lanarkshire Nurseries, Primary & Secondary schools, to raise awareness of the Hospice, fundraising and our role in the community. You will be required to maximise and grow the income generated from all fundraising activities related to schools and community fundraising.
In addition to your own workload, you will support the work of the fundraising department with other fundraising initiatives as directed..

It is important that the service is available to our citizens when it is needed. We have an exciting opportunity for a welfare advisor based within our Legal Advice and Welfare Services (LAWS) team.
About the role
Do you want to use your extensive welfare benefits and/or asylum support experience to help torture survivors realise their welfare rights and entitlements?
Freedom from Torture is a human rights organisation that provides rehabilitation to survivors of torture. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for human rights to join our team in Glasgow.
The Welfare Advisor works within the holistic rehabilitation model of Freedom from Torture and provides welfare advice and advocacy to our clients, forming part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will receive, process and manage welfare referrals, and act as a point of contact on welfare issues and in particular, for the Scotland centre. This role requires careful and sensitive delivery of complex welfare information and advice, often to very vulnerable clients. You must have in- depth knowledge of the welfare rights and benefits available to asylum seekers and/or refugees. This may include completing Section 4 applications, or appealing negative benefits decisions on health or vulnerability grounds.
About you
The ideal candidate for the role will have the following:
- Experience of working within a similar role providing advocacy on a range of welfare issues to include housing, welfare benefits and Asylum Support
- Extensive experience of working within the benefits system, including the application, assessment and appeals procedures
- Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers and an understanding of the needs of this group and the associated support services and mechanisms available
- Experience of liaising with external agencies and government bodies to ensure that service users are given access to their available welfare rights and entitlements.
At interview you will need to demonstrate your ability to identify welfare needs and provide appropriate advice and recommendations. You will be given a case study to work through and you will be asked to share your analysis and plan with us.

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Are you passionate about enhancing the rehomability and rehoming outcomes for dogs in our care? If so join our Dogs team as Intake and Rehoming Specialist on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract.
Acting as a subject matter expert overseeing and readying the successful preparation of dogs, on and offsite, for new homes, our Intake and Rehoming Specialist, Dogs will provide skilled guidance, mentor staff and will contribute to decisions regarding animal welfare and rehoming outcomes.
They will deliver high standards of care, welfare and behaviour support and will develop and implement rehoming strategies for each dog, considering their individual needs and characteristics to swiftly prepare them for appropriate homes. They will;
- Oversee a designated caseload of dogs both on and offsite, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support from those involved in providing their day-to-day care.
- Provide skilled health and behaviour support to address any challenges and enhance adoptability.
- Conduct thorough welfare assessments to determine suitability for rehoming and identify any necessary interventions.
- Provide regular support and communication to those looking after pets offsite, ensuring they have what they need for optimal health and behaviour outcomes.
This role requires an individual to be approachable and have the desire and ability to motivate, inspire and develop others, showing strong communication skills with a positive outlook. They will also act as a role model, imparting the values and ethos of the charity and will assist in developing staff skills and knowledge to improve their effectiveness in their roles.
Our successful applicant will have significant experience of working in a dog care and welfare environment, ideally in a rehoming centre context. As our Intake and Rehoming Specialist, you will be required to maintain accurate records and data and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards an understanding of Microsoft Office is required.
This is a full time 6 month fixed term opportunity working 37.5 hours per week to include 1 in 3 weekends. The starting salary for this position is £26,841 pro rata per annum, depending on experience. This is complemented by;
- 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to 40 days after five years
