I’m looking to hear from communications professionals, with experience in:
- Established experience in a communications role with excellent written skills.
- A strong track record of delivering engaging social media content across different channels and audiences to support organisational priorities.
- Excellent writing skills, able to adapt for different channels and audiences. Compelling and grammatically correct.
- Experience of using creative software such as Illustrator, Premiere, Canva and Photoshop
- Basic video editing skills.
- SME mentality; comfortable with a broad role in a small organisation and happy to flex from the strategic to tactical, taking a ‘hands-on’ approach.
- Self-directed, able to work without undue supervision.
You will join a dynamic organisation with an international team who work in a supportive and collegial environment.

This is a senior communications and public affairs role at The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) at a pivotal moment for human rights in the UK. Communications
- Lead BIHR’s external communications strategy to ensure consistent, accessible, rights‑based messaging.

Who the Role Is Suitable For

About the role
This role is for an experienced Communications Officer who wants to put their skills to work supporting Right to Remain to build knowledge, radical solidarity and power in the face of escalating attacks on the rights and dignity of migrants, refugees, and people seeking asylum.
You will use strategic, thoughtful communications to amplify lived experience of the asylum and immigration system, showcase grassroots organising, and promote our expert public legal education resources and training. Your work will empower more people to understand and exercise their rights, and support grassroots community groups and allies to guide, and stand in solidarity with, people navigating the hostile asylum and immigration system.
You will have experience building and engaging communities around social justice through targeted digital communications. Day to day, you will collaborate within our small team to produce email, social and web content that demystifies public legal knowledge and showcases community power. Communications Officer
Location: Home-based in the UK, within 90 minutes travel of Central London, with occasional national and international travel

Overall purpose of role
As the WeProtect Global Alliance Communications Officer, you will:
Support the development and delivery of WeProtect Global Alliance’s communications and marketing activity, ensuring clear, consistent and engaging messaging that strengthens the Alliance’s visibility, credibility and impact globally.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will deliver high-quality digital, editorial and marketing outputs across multiple channels, including through our website, social media, newsletters, campaigns and events. Key responsibilities
Communications planning & delivery
· Support the Head of Communications to implement the Alliance’s communications strategy.
· Contribute to communications planning and communications calendar for organisational priorities, including policy outputs, research, events and member initiatives.
· Ensure a consistent pipeline of integrated communications activities
· Ensure consistent messaging aligned with WeProtect Global Alliance’s brand, values and strategic objectives.
Digital channels & content management
· Maintain and update the Alliance’s website, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and up to date, including member resources and publications.
· Manage the Alliance’s social media channels, monitoring activity and working with the Members Team to ensure a steady stream of high-quality content.
· Draft, edit and publish blogs, news items and digital content for diverse global audiences.
Marketing, campaigns & engagement
· Support the delivery of digital marketing campaigns to promote Alliance initiatives, outputs and events.
· Develop project-specific communications plans in collaboration with colleagues to embed engagement and visibility.
