The Opportunity

We are seeking a Programme Officer to join our Work Experience Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, enthusiastic and confident individual to join us in a role which has responsibility for ensuring suitable and safe work experience placements are sourced, managed and available for students. Our Work Experience programme provides a taster of the ‘World of Work’ helping to raise career aspirations and support academic progression.  Our team work with local and central London employers and education providers and provide placements for over 5,000 young people each academic year. 

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

• To secure, update and manage work experience placements.
• To handle telephone enquiries about the work experience programme, communicating with teachers, employers, parents and schools.
• To be a key point of contact for schools/educational establishments managing and overseeing the work experience process.
• To produce information and provide support to the Head of Work Experience and other team members.
• Completing one-to-one interviews with students with additional needs to ensure suitable placements are secured.
• Managing placements using a bespoke IT system.

My Life My Choice (MLMC) is a multi-award-winning self-advocacy charity uniquely run by and for people with learning disabilities, founded in 1998.  The charity delivers a diverse range of innovative user led projects that enhance and empower the lives of adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire.  These established projects include a fee earning training and consultancy Professional Services team, gig buddy, travel buddy scheme, a nightclub, campaigns and self-advocacy groups.

We are now looking for a committed individual to join our Gig Buddy team. The role holder will help to deliver a broad range of social activities which increase fun, friends, confidence and independence for our members with a learning disability.

The post calls for an individual with excellent administration, communication and social skills. We need a resilient individual who thrives on regular face-to-face interaction with beneficiaries. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about youth workers being the best they can be and empowering them to be heard. You will achieve this through the delivery of our flagship leadership development program, Rise Up, funded by the Violence Reduction Unit.

As Programmes  Officer, you will be vital in the delivery of the Rise Up program, ensuring key milestones are met. You will support the day-to-day running of Rise Up by ensuring all practitioners are given clear guidance and support to engage fully with the program. You will also ensure key stakeholders such as the Violence Reduction Unit, youth workers, and the partnership are updated and supported to deliver the program.

We would love someone who understands the youth sector and what it means to be a frontline practitioner in London, especially in the context of violence impacting young people and communities. We are seeking an experienced Rent Officer to join our small, dispersed Rent Team which consists of a Rent Team Leader; two Rent Officers, and two part-time Rent Team Administrators which sits within our Housing and Property services. In conjunction with our Supported Housing services, the Rent Team is responsible for the collection of the organisation's rent and other property charges. As a Rent Officer you will manage a caseload of properties and will be responsible for monitoring rent accounts; ensuring that appropriate action is taken to maximize rental income. You will ensure accuracy of rent accounts’ and service users’ information held on the rent management database (Pyramid). 

In addition, you will liaise with relevant local authorises housing benefit departments; ensuring positive relationships are forged. You will have knowledge of the external environment in which YMCA DownsLink Group works and keep abreast of key changes, particularly around Welfare Reform.

Hybrid role – mainly based at Reed House in Hove, with an expectation to work out of other locations across the YMCA DownsLink Group area when required. Working a minimum of three days at Reed House / on site and two days from home - working hours of Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm and Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

The Role

This is a rare opportunity to be at the front line of human rights research and advocacy, working for a specialist organisation with a long track record in promoting the right to freedom of religion or belief (FoRB).

You will undertake research, investigations, monitoring, report-writing and advocacy on freedom of religion and human rights in Myanmar/Burma and Indonesia.

Key responsibilities (full responsibilities listed in the application pack):

• To plan, organise and undertake research, monitoring and reporting on freedom of religion or belief and related human rights issues in Myanmar/Burma and Indonesia , through regular fact-finding assignments, when and where security conditions allow, meetings with key stakeholders and the development of reliable in-country and external partnerships and collaboration.
• To produce materials, including briefings, reports, documenting and analysing the situation of freedom of religion or belief and human rights in the agreed countries, as well as advocacy recommendations.
• To develop and implement, with oversight from the Asia Team Leader and in close consultation with other key members of staff , an effective and innovative advocacy strategy for the agreed countries, taking into account the regional perspective.
• To undertake advocacy with a focus at local (when possible) and regional levels, including ASEAN, and, in consultation with the Asia Team Leader, work with CSW’s Public Affairs Team to inform advocacy initiatives in the UK, EU, US and with other governments, the United Nations and other forums.
• To organise, as appropriate, advocacy visits for delegations from or in relation to the agreed countries.

The Person

A committed Christian with a university degree and a strong commitment to human rights and justice, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to take the initiative and to work well under pressure.

Through agreed targeted plans, you will help to increase our reach, profile, reputation and influence, using online platforms to engage with people affected by diabetes and the wider public. You will promote the work of Diabetes UK, raise awareness of diabetes among the public and providers of healthcare service/system, support people living with diabetes and influence improvements in services for people with diabetes.

Main Responsibilities

As Digital Engagement Officer you will use your considerable experience to contribute to the development and delivery of a strategic local digital engagement plan to support team and organisational objectives. You will develop and deliver proactive communications to raise the profile of Diabetes UK in a geographically defined area using various social media channels. You will work collaboratively with other Regional, National and wider organisation colleagues to share best practice and agree effective ways to digitally communicate and mobilise stakeholders from all communities, incorporating key messages across the UK. You will build and maintain digital engagement with existing and new stakeholders, to inform and strengthen Diabetes UK's social media and online activity and overall profile.

Ideal Candidate

As Digital Engagement Officer you will have a strong track record in digital engagement. You should be able to demonstrate understanding of the reputational, legal, GDPR, consent and safeguarding risks involved with media relations and social media and be able to mitigate against these. You should have experience of motivating and supporting others to deliver digital and social media communications and be familiar with online content management systems. Knowledge and experience of carrying out communications projects and plans across a variety of digital platforms, including websites and social media, is essential along with the ability to maintain, review and improve online information and resources.

This is role is based within the south west and south central region, allows for hybrid working and is connected to the regional office in Taunton, Somerset. The person must therefore be based within this region.

As Supporter Engagement Officer you’ll play a key role in helping us to engage new and existing supporters as well as helping to deliver first-class stewardship to retain support and build trust. Directly supporting the Direct Marketing and Legacy Manager and working closely with all of the Supporter Engagement team it would be beneficial if you have previous experience or an interest in Fundraising. Being a confident communicator with a “can-do” approach is essential as well as being able to demonstrate proven administrative skills, the ability to manage a varied workload and be highly organised.

We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working. Please note that all employees are contractually required to work from the office a minimum of 4 days a month.

The organisation:

We are delighted to be partnered once again with the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, who raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. They ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. They are seeking a passionate Social Media and Content Officer to join their ambitious team on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for:

• Supporting on the planning and delivery of organic social media campaigns across all aspects of the charity’s work
• Working with the digital team to create campaigns and communication plans across all channels and aligning with paid activity, email communications and blogs to create a multichannel approach
• Supporting busy content calendars and managing email production schedules
• Working with the digital team, in particular the Digital Officer to bring case studies and supporter stories to life and publicise these across platforms
• Monitoring social channels, responding to their audience and proactively searching for opportunities for conversation and interaction
• Working with patient influencers, celebrities and working with the Social Media and Content Manager to build an influencer network
• Supporting the Social Media and Content Manager in upskilling teams across the organisation, increasing their knowledge and understanding of social content and how to use their channels.
• Monitoring social media trends and spotting opportunities that could build on and develop their audiences and content
• Working with colleagues to think creatively and produce bold, engaging content that works across multiple communications channels
• Working with colleagues and existing data and insights to understand supporters needs and behaviours.
• Safeguarding the integrity of The Royal Marsden’s Cancer Charity’s communications programme, ensuring it complies with data protection regulations and any other applicable legislation
• Analysing social performance and reporting back to the Social Media and Content Manager and wider team on ongoing performance

Person specification:

• Experience creating content (including Reels for Instagram) for and managing social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn
• Experience with social media reporting tools
• Knowledge and understanding of social media best practice and following latest trends
• Excellent writing, copy-editing and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail and a strong command of the English language
• Knowledge and understanding of digital technologies, an interest in social media and commitment to continuous professional development and learning
• Ability to communicate, collaborate and build good working relationships
• Ability to work proactively, bringing energy and creative ideas and managing content for different channels concurrently

What's on offer:

This role is offering a salary of £28,000 - £32,000, depending on experience and will be based at either their Chelsea or Sutton site for 2 days a week. This is a fast moving role and applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Programme Officer to support the end-to-end delivery of our sector-leading mentoring programme, ensuring participants join smoothly and are supported throughout. You will also support partners and donors to contribute to the delivery and expansion of the programme. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
