GUCE Project Manager Role
Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to take control of their own energy supplies. Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see local communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all. We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.
We are seeking a Project Manager for two days a week, to help develop the opportunities that are forthcoming. Depending on the skills of the applicant the same individual could also cover aspects of other roles we are looking to fill.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in project management to join our small but expanding team. The Project Manager for Community Energy will be responsible for converting opportunities for local renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects into reality. They will take projects from concept, through funding and construction to management.
Key responsibilities will include:

Terms and Conditions
Salary: Pro-rated salary for 2 days per week, £13,000 to £19,000 per annum (£34,000 to £47,000 full time equivalent) depending on experience plus 3% pension contribution.
Hours: 2 days per week (15 hours). The working hours can be flexible.
Location: Home-working, ideally within the GUCE catchment area from Watford to Tring.
You will need to travel to meet stakeholders, attend relevant meetings and visit potential sites. You may be called upon to work outside office hours.
Contractual arrangements: 12 months fixed term with the opportunity to extend, subject to 3 months’ probation.
There is a notice period of four weeks from both sides.
Holidays: The equivalent of 28 days per annum excluding Bank Holidays, pro-rata for the part-time nature of the post.

Job Purpose:

To manage, support and develop a small team of staff and volunteers to provide high-quality mental health and wellbeing services in Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent.

To oversee the day-to-day operations and running of the Pontypool and Brynmawr offices and services of Mind in Gwent.
To secure funding, grants and income growth in partnership with Mind in Gwent’s Income Generation and Business Development Team to improve and grow mental health and wellbeing services in Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Lead and coordinate mental health and wellbeing projects and services, ensuring they meet service user needs and align with organisational objectives.
2. Provide line management, supervision, and support to project staff and volunteers
3. Monitor and evaluate service outcomes, producing reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders such as the leadership team and funders, maintaining accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
4. Oversee the day-to-day management of Mind in Gwent’s Pontypool and Brynmawr premises, ensuring safety, accessibility, and regulatory compliance (e.g., health & safety, fire regulations) liaising with contractors, landlords, and suppliers for building maintenance and improvements.
5. Research, identify, and apply for funding opportunities including grants, tenders, and local authority commissioning, supporting budget planning and financial monitoring of funded activities.
6. Actively build and maintain relationships with funders, local community groups, statutory bodies, and other voluntary sector organisations working in collaboration to coproduce and to develop joint mental and wellbeing services, referral pathways and funding bids.

Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH) is based in the Pearce Institute in Glasgow, and operates as a partnership between SSAFA and Glasgow City Council to be a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need.
About the role
As a Housing Advisor at GHH, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred housing support to veterans at risk of homelessness. You’ll provide advice, casework, and tenancy sustainment services, ensuring each client receives tailored support that meets their individual needs. From triaging new enquiries to managing a diverse caseload, you’ll be at the frontline of our mission to prevent homelessness and promote housing stability within the Armed Forces community.
You’ll work closely with local authorities, housing providers, and third-sector organisations to deliver joined-up support, particularly through the Council’s Housing Options approach. Your role will involve regular liaison with external stakeholders and you’ll represent GHH in forums that shape housing policy and practice. Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a highly-qualified Area Programme Manager (ABA Consortium) to join our team in Mykolaiv.
About the job
The Area-Based Allocation (ABA) Consortium is designed to support local actors in Ukraine by facilitating access to quality funding and enabling them to scale up their programming without being burdened by excessive bureaucracy. The Consortium operates as a fund mechanism, incorporating a due diligence process, calls for proposals, fund disbursement, and tailored support throughout project implementation.
Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, and in close coordination with Consortium partners and DRC colleagues, the Area Programme Manager (APM) (ABA Consortium) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the programme. This includes both managerial and technical leadership in the delivery of activities, disbursement of grants to civil society organizations (CSOs), provision of technical assistance, reporting, and oversight of monitoring and evaluation processes.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Grant Management and Compliance
- Support the Chief of Party developing the operations procedures for the fund management, vetting process, due diligence, tiers classification and allocation process.
- Ensure vetting and due diligence are implemented in a timely manner and the results inform the capacity building plans.
- Participate in the operational review of the proposals submitted by the CSOs.
- Ensure Sub Grants Agreements packages are prepared in a timely manner following the approval of the proposals.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, including narrative reporting, indicator tracking.
Project implementation oversight
- Ensure that Project Cycle Management (PCM) tools and processes are in place such as kick of meetings, workplans, budget follow up, procurement plans.
- Ensure that key procurements to be performed by DRC are initiated on time to ensure timely delivery to the Partners
- Ensure capacity assessments and capacity strengthening plans are in place within the Program team. Liaise closely with the Support Services Fund Managers to ensure that similar plans are in place for Finance, Supply Chain, HR.
- Ensure technical monitoring and regular follow up meetings happen with CSOs to monitor progress (targets timeline, expenditure) and address challenges.
People management
- Line manages the Program team of the ABA Consortium, including MEAL, Grants and Technical specialists (Shelter and Protection) including recruitment, performance management and oversignt in close coordination with technical supervisors
Representation & External Coordination
- Coordinate with the other consortium members to ensure alignment of practices and processes
- Ensure fluid, open communication between partners at all levels (technical, operational, strategic) and support resolution of disagreements or misalignments in implementation or planning.
About you:
To be successful in this role we expect you to be a strong and strategic leader with a solid background in programme oversight, and stakeholder engagement, ideally in complex humanitarian or early recovery contexts; a proven ability to manage diverse teams, foster collaboration among partners, and ensure compliance with donor requirements. We expect you to bring a deep commitment to locally led responses and have demonstrated experience in supporting and strengthening the capacity of local actors — through mentoring, technical support, or tailored accompaniment — to enable sustainable and impactful programming.
Moreover, we also expect the following:

- At least 3 years of experience in managing programs in emergency and early recovery contexts
- At least 3 years of experience in team management position.

The Team
Part of the Philanthropy Team, comprised of individuals focused on major giving, prospect research and trusts and foundations. In addition, the role will work closely with the corporate partnerships team and community and events team.

Prospect research colleagues; Director of Fundraising, Head of Philanthropy, Head of Corporate Partnerships, major giving and trusts & foundations fundraisers; funding team; community and events; key stakeholders across the charities and hospital trust.
Overall Purpose of the Role
The Senior Prospect Research Manager will lead the Prospect Research function at the Foundation, with support and direction from the Head of Philanthropy.
You will be accountable for the ongoing development and delivery of the Prospect Research strategy, BE involved in and oversight of other policies and processes related to our pipeline growth and development, involving due diligence, gift acceptance protocols, database management and business planning.
The Prospect Research function will be made up of this role and one Prospect Research Manager, who will report into you. Together, you will ensure that quality prospects are identified, researched and allocated to portfolios in collaboration with the high value fundraising teams. You will lead on our approach to prospect analytics, using data to evaluate fundraiser and programme performance, spot trends and opportunities and improve the efficiency of the team’s activity.
Our fundraising department has recently entered a period of ambitious growth and will shortly be launching a significant capital campaign for our children’s hospital.
We are investing in this pivotal role as we know it will be fundamental to our success in this campaign and beyond. This is an incredibly exciting time to join as our Senior Prospect Research Manager, and the right candidate would have significant scope and autonomy to shape this role and our future Prospect Research strategy.
Working Environment:
The post holder should expect to:
- Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.
- Be responsible for the input and maintenance of databases and files relevant to the post requirements.
- Will occasionally be required to attend events in the evening and at weekends.
Role responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you would be reasonably expected to take on wider tasks that are commensurate with the level of your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the ongoing development and delivery of the prospect research strategy to generate prospects for identified priorities and to strengthen gaps in the prospect pipeline.
- Implement the prospect research strategy, alongside the Prospect Research Manager, ensuring that prospect identification targets are met, and team members invest regular time in working with key stakeholders to develop prospects.
- Line manages one Prospect Research Manager, as part of leadership of the Prospect Research Function, ensuring collective objectives are met
- Lead on the prospect research and development strategy for a significant capital campaign, which will involve increasing the volume and capacity of our pipeline. This role will drive forward this campaign prospecting strategy, alongside high value fundraisers, the Head of Philanthropy and the Director of Fundraising. Prospecting approaches will include desk research, network mapping of Trustees and other senior stakeholders, and engaging Campaign Board connections.
- Work alongside our Legal team to implement and oversee our Due Diligence policies and processes.
- Oversee the regular data mining of Raiser’s Edge to identify opportunities from amongst our warmest constituents.
- Work closely with fundraising leads to develop the prospect pipeline, in particular building our networks of advocates and influencers. This will include attending meetings with clinicians and other key stakeholders. Qualify and allocate prospects identified by the team.
- Proactively engage with market intelligence which supports the identification of prospects and philanthropic trends, and highlights opportunities for future fundraising growth. This would include regular assessment of insight on transformational donations made worldwide, high net worth individuals and philanthropic trends.
- Undertake strategy research which supports decision making relating to fundraising. This may include competitor analysis and feasibility work.
- Advocate best practice in the recording and processing of prospect data on Raiser’s Edge, ensuring data is accurate, relevant and processed as per the team’s Data Protection Policy and in line with The Data Protection Act 1998/ the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This will include working with the data team to identify data challenges and appropriate solutions for improving prospect data quality and cleanliness.
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy to shape annual plans which best support Fundraisings priorities.
- Provide the highest quality research activity which adds the most value to fundraising. This might include identifying training needs and formulating training sessions for the team.
- Regularly network with sector peers to share best practice and generate insight on the latest developments in prospect research.
- Using data analytics techniques, implement processes and procedures which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of prospect research and prospect identification activity.
- Support the Director of Fundraising and Head of Philanthropy in embedding a performance culture – including tracking identification, prospect movement, conversion rates and cleansing the pipeline on an ongoing basis.
- Take a lead role in using data visualisation techniques to bring new insight to major gifts and prospect pipeline data which informs fundraising strategy.
Experience
- Highly experienced Prospect Research professional, ideally having led delivery of prospect research strategies
- Experience of driving high value pipeline growth, contributing to increased income generation
- Experience of prospect/ data analytics.
- Experience of effective internet and electronic research with the ability to analyse and objectively assess the relevance of information to fundraising activity

ABOUT THE POLITICS PROJECT
We support young people to use their voice by providing them with outstanding democratic education. We work with young people, teachers and politicians to help them to learn, teach and engage in politics. We are a non-partisan organisation working across the UK.
We also coordinate the Democracy Classroom network, a partnership between over 100 civil society organisations that supports young people to engage in elections.
The Politics Project delivers Digital Dialogue: Wales, which supports young people to have meaningful conversations with the politicians that represent them, building trust and relationships on both sides. Young people gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to engage in the democratic process through informed interactions with their elected representatives.
These interactions take place both online and in-person, in classrooms across Wales.
Since 2021 over 5550 young people, 130 teachers and 130 Welsh politicians (including the leaders of four political parties represented in the Senedd) have taken part in the programme.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Programme Coordinator will plan, arrange and facilitate Dialogue sessions, where learners question and discuss issues relevant to young people with their political representatives. The post holder will also support schools and colleges to deliver Youth Hustings for the 2026 Senedd and 2027 Local elections, giving learners the opportunity to meet, and ask questions to, candidates standing in their area.
The Politics Project wants Digital Dialogue: Wales to fundamentally change the way that young people and politicians interact across Wales. Help us to make sure that young people get their voices heard.
Working with the Head of Programmes and the Digital Dialogue: Wales Programme Lead, the post holder would support the delivery and growth of Digital Dialogue: Wales, allowing more young people, teachers and politicians to take part. This is a fast-paced role in a small but growing team.
While fluency in Welsh is preferred, it is not a requirement for this role.
The post holder will:
- Work with the Head of Programmes and the Digital Dialogue: Wales Programme Lead to support the delivery of the Digital Dialogue: Wales programme.
- Provide online, and occasional in-school, support for teachers delivering Digital Dialogue, Youth Hustings, teacher and politician training sessions.
- Support the recruitment of teachers and local and national politicians across Wales to take part in the programme.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with those teachers and politicians.
- Manage and keep up to date the database, collecting and inputting information and producing reports when required. Assist with monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide administrative support for the Digital Dialogue: Wales programme and other programmes and activities delivered by The Politics Project.
The Politics Project is based in London, but the post holder for this role will be based in Wales. They will usually work from home, though we would expect the post holder to come to the London office once a month and attend in person meetings in Wales as required. It is an 18-month contract (including a 6-month probation period), with extension possible subject to funding. The hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week.
