Job description
Financial Controller
6-month contract | Hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 days from home) | Central London (Goodge Street)
If you’re a qualified accountant with a passion for turning complex numbers into clear insights – and you’d like to do that in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment – this could be the ideal next step for you.
Our client, a respected organisation in the higher education sector is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team during an exciting and busy period. Their offices are just a short stroll from Goodge Street station.
About the role
As Financial Controller, you’ll be overseeing controls, preparing accurate reports, and ensuring the organisation remains in good place financially across its two entities.

You’ll play a key role in:
  • Producing accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
  • Leading cash flow management and ensuring liquidity
  • Supporting strategic planning through budgeting and forecasting
  • Coordinating smooth and timely audit processes
  • Conducting in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities and trends
  • Guiding and mentoring a dedicated finance team
This is a role where your strong analytical skills will be valued daily and where your working knowledge of financial statements (including year-end) will make a real impact.
About you
To thrive here you’ll need to be:
  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) – essential
  • Confident in interpreting and presenting financial statements
  • Highly analytical, detail-focused, and comfortable making sense of complex data
  • Experienced in financial control, reporting, and cash management – ideally in higher education or a similar sector
  • A collaborative leader with excellent communication skills
Why you’ll want to join
  • Hybrid working – 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
  • Central London location with excellent transport links
  • The chance to make a measurable difference during a pivotal time
  • A supportive, professional team environment where your expertise is appreciated
How to apply
If you’re ready to bring your skills to a respected organisation and enjoy the balance of hybrid working we’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV to [email protected].
Early applications are encouraged as interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential; please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help with making the application process work for you.
