For over 15 years, Scotty's Little Soldiers has been supporting children and young people who have been bereaved of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.  We are about to embark on an exciting journey which will see the charity evolve to support anyone affected by a military-connected bereavement and ultimately empower a community of more than 25,000 bereaved individuals and their families by 2035.

Founded in 2010 by Nikki Scott following the death of her husband, Corporal Lee Scott, the charity currently offers a unique blend of emotional, practical, and educational support to over 750 young people.

Role Mission.

To lead the creation and delivery of Scotty’s new navigating entitlements casework (START) Programme, a single point of contact service designed to support anyone affected by military-connected bereavement. 

This is a hands-on, pioneering role. You’ll help shape the infrastructure, recruit and lead a small squad of caseworkers, and ensure that everyone in the bereaved military community receives compassionate, personalised, and well-coordinated support. 

The key responsibilities of this role are:

Service Design & Delivery 

• Working closely with the Head of Service, lead the operational planning and phased rollout of the START Programme

• Develop and refine service model, workflows, triage criteria, and beneficiary journeys 

• Own the SPOC offer, ensuring clear onboarding, needs assessments, support plans, and follow-up 

• Ensure the service is trauma-informed, inclusive, and responsive to beneficiary feedback 

• Manage your own caseload alongside Programme Head responsibilities. 

Team Leadership & Development 

• Help recruit and then directly support 1 initial caseworker (with potential to grow team in 2027 depending on demand) 

• Provide coaching, oversight, and reflective practice opportunities for squad members 

• Create a strong squad culture that reflects The Scotty’s Way and encourages personal growth 

• Lead START Programme Daily Huddles 

Collaboration & Partnership 

• Build strong referral pathways with external organisations (military & non-military charities, NHS, social care) 

• Become the charity’s expert on navigating entitlements for the bereaved community. 

• Work collaboratively with other Programme leads to ensure consistency, shared learning & efficient internal referrals 

• Support the Head of Service in forming partnerships that enhance START’s offer 

Monitoring & Evaluation 

• Track and report on beneficiary engagement, support outcomes, and follow-up actions 

• Use insights, working with the Head of Research & Impact, to adapt and improve the service over time 

• Ensure CRM records are complete, accurate, and used to inform delivery decisions 

Contribution to Charity-Wide Goals 

• Feed into cross-functional projects including Outreach, Fundraising, and Strategy 

• Act as a representative of Scotty’s at sector events or external meetings where appropriate

The 30-day goals for this role are:

• Built a deep understanding of Scotty’s mission, our audience, the services we provide, and strategic direction.
• Worked closely with the Head of SUPPORT to understand the history of Scotty’s helping families navigate entitlements, including reviewing current and recent cases. 
• Began to map the key stakeholders, partners and organisations (including statutory, charitable and others) for casework in the START Programme. 

The 60-day goals for this role are:

• Scoped and met with key stakeholders. 

• Worked with Head of Service to map the new casework (START) programme and beneficiary journeys.

• Worked with the Head of Service and the Head of Impact to ensure that processes are in place to monitor the outcomes and impact of the new START Programme. 

• With the Head of Service, supported the design of a light CRM for initial use in START casework.

• Drafted all other necessary processes and procedures for casework including safeguarding, triage, wait time limits etc.

• Drafted a training plan for new START caseworkers. 

The 90-day goals for this role are:

• Launched the new START Programme.

• Built strong partner networks for any needed referrals or information gathering to support casework.

• Created a road map of future Programme releases (e.g. new services within the programme, themes, cohort specific activities etc).

What you will be doing

The Delivery Officer (Good for Girls) will deliver the programme's day-to-day operations and the broader mental health offer to London Youth members. You will deliver Good for Girls, a youth club-based mental health and well-being programme. You will support 10 youth organisations to engage young people in the programme, which enables young women and girls to participate in regular well-being activities and training for young Londoners.

Lead the delivery of the Good for Girls programme 

• Coordinate Good for Girls to meet key delivery targets, secure the target recruitment of member organisations, youth workers and young people, and oversee the onboarding process. 
• Coordinate Peer Mentors to undertake training and to then support delivery of the programme. 
• Work with internal colleagues to ensure organisations participating in our programmes receive a quality experience, such as completing due diligence.

Key responsibilities of the role

• Be the first point of contact for enquiries, managing incoming phone calls and generic inboxes for policy and campaigns, ensuring that enquiries are escalated efficiently and calls transferred to appropriate DCC team members.
• Record carer details and interactions on the database.
• Support the recruitment and ongoing management of the dementia carer community, including working across DCC teams to facilitate the promotion and ongoing coordination of a range of engagement opportunities.
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of campaigns and community engagement activities.

The Scheme Director is a newly created role that will be pivotal in helping SCEC extend its reach. Our members are looking for an enthusiastic indovidual to join our Network Hope Activities team as staff cover for 9 months.

You will work under the direction of the Project Manager and alongside, tutors to deliver activities, support networks, health and wellbeing and training support to beneficiaries and to recruit, train and support a network of volunteers to facilitate the support groups. 

The role will involve collaboration with other local businesses and third sector organisations to deliver the activities. This Project’s aim is to support vulnerable disabled people (including those with learning disabilities, autism and those affected by mental health issues and their families) through consistent provision of health and wellbeing activities, pathways into employment training, sport and social activities, advice, signposting and peer support based both at our Resource Centre in W10 and out in the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  
 
1. Supporting Tutors, volunteers, senior staff and beneficiaries 
 
Utilising EPM’s resources to lead in locally sourcing beneficiaries and volunteers from the local community. Liaise with the NHS and Social Services, partner providers and schools, colleges, community centres, voluntary organisations and referral agencies. 

· Facilitate and support local support groups, 

· Plan, arrange and run a variety of activities and training programmes. 

· Recruit and support a network of volunteers to co-facilitate support groups and activities 

· Under the direction of The Project Manager conduct home visits to assess the needs of the families and inform them of support available through Network Hope. 

· Arrange the selection and delivery of healthy food and drinks and running the catering and gardening training groups. 

· Work with sports and fitness tutors to ensure all equipment used in sports/fitness sessions are secure and meet health and safety standards. 

· Coordinate and oversee respite and peer group support to the families. 

· Develop, monitor, update and review individual action plans for all beneficiaries. 

· Conduct evaluation reports (including case studies) and work with senior management to collate the information. 

· Assist senior management in leading  advisory group meetings and lead/facilitate local support group meetings.

About the Church Commissioners

Established in 1948, The Church Commissioners works to support the Church of England's ministry.

The main aspects to the work of the Church Commissioners are as follows:

Managing the endowment fund

The Investments team of c. 85 colleagues manages the Church's permanent endowment fund. This £11.1 billion fund (as at 31st December 2024) is one of the largest in the country and has its origins in Queen Anne's Bounty, which was established in 1704.

The fund represents a diverse investments portfolio, which is managed with a strong focus on responsible and ethical investments that enable the funding support for the Church of England to grow in line with agreed investment return targets.

Church-Facing Commissioner Teams

There are three Church-facing Commissioner Teams:

• The Church Buildings team of c. 35 colleagues supports dioceses and parishes with the care, conservation and development of historic church buildings, advises on permissions for changes to church buildings and provides guidance on architectural and heritage matters. It helps churches adapt for worship and community use and works with government to advise on policies that affect church buildings;
• The Mission & Pastoral Services team of c. 10 colleagues supports the creation, merger and closure of parishes and benefices. It oversees the adjustment of parish boundaries, supports dioceses on the legal framework for pastoral change, and handles the legal steps when a church building is no longer required for public worship, including finding suitable alternative uses or disposal;
• The Bishoprics & Cathedrals team of c. 40 colleagues advises on the provision of suitable housing and office accommodation for diocesan bishops and archbishops, funding bishops' working costs, and supporting cathedrals in their governance and sustainability. It also oversees , the historic library and record office of the Archbishops of Canterbury and the main archive for the documentary history of the Church of England.

Central Support and Governance

Overall, there are c. 10 colleagues in the Central support and governance team:

• The Commissioners' Secretariat team supports the Chief Executive, senior trustees and Board in all aspects of their governance;
• The Engagement Manager is responsible for working closely with a wide variety of Commissioners' teams to help ensure that the Church Commissioners has effective engagement with a wide variety of Stakeholders;
• The Strategic Programme management team varies in size depending on the strategic projects currently underway (see below for further details).

Church of England Central Services (ChECS)

The Church Commissioners is supported by a number of key enabling teams which are part of the Church of England Central Services. This NCI consists of Finance, Assurance, Technology, Data, Project Management, Communications and Legal teams. The ChECS team is c. 150 colleagues.

The Church Commissioners is accountable to Parliament, General Synod and, as a registered charity, to the Charity Commission. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the Commissioners' Chair and the current Deputy Chair is the Bishop of Salisbury. Three of the Commissioners' trustees are known as Church Estates Commissioners (CECs), who will be key stakeholders for this role. The First CEC chairs the Assets (investment) Committee and the Second CEC is an MP who helps exercise accountability to Parliament. Both are appointed by HM The King on the advice of the Prime Minister. The Third CEC chairs committees that oversee the work of the Church-facing Commissioner Teams and is appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Director of Strategy and Engagement has direct responsibility for Central Support and Governance, comprising the Commissioners' Secretariat (4 colleagues), the Engagement Manager and the Strategic Programme Management team (c. 5 colleagues). Additional Strategic Programme team members may be added as further strategic projects are commissioned.

Strategic focus

• Support the Chief Executive and Board with the development, articulation and delivery of the Commissioners' strategic business plan to enable it to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England, engaging widely and authentically in so doing;
• Act as a close adviser and sounding board for the Chief Executive and leadership team, ensuring the provision of accurate and timely advice, briefings and presentations;
• Assist in developing and delivering plans and projects to give life to the business plan.

Communications and stakeholder engagement

• Advise on, and support, stakeholder engagement. Develop and implement engagement and communications strategies for key stakeholders and leaders, e.g., bishops, parliamentarians, dioceses and General Synod (the Church's legislative and deliberative body). • the Programme Spire team (which is managing a multi-year research programme to understand and respond to the charity's historic links to African chattel enslavement);
• any changes to the organisational structure for the Church Commissioners, ensuring they are provided with appropriate performance targets and support. This should be done working closely with the appropriate Finance and People teams.

Leadership and wider context

• Keep up to date with current events, trends and concerns which might affect the work of the Commissioners, NCIs and the wider Church;
• Support the wider Church as a senior leader, contributing to the development of the NCIs. Draw connections between operational activities in different teams, and with other NCI activities where appropriate.

• A salary of c.£95,000 plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
