As our Treasurer Trustee, you’ll bring your financial expertise to our dynamic international board working alongside trustees from member organisations, our leadership team and co-opted trustees bringing a range of specialist skills to our Board.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a Treasurer with experience of working with not for profits in setting strategic financial direction,. It would be desirable to have experience in complying with the Charity Commission for England and Wales or similar bodies’ regulations.
You would be joining our board at an exciting time, as we implement our new strategy, build on our campaigns, broaden our advocacy to mobilise greater support and achieve change.
The Treasurer will maintain an overview of the organisation's affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that the organisation has policies and systems in place to ensure robust financial planning, implementation and reporting.
What are we looking for?
The Treasurer will maintain an overview of the organisation's affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that the organisation has policies and systems in place to ensure robust financial planning, implementation and reporting. This will involve :
- Reviewing budgets, accounts and financial statements, and recommending them to the Board for approval
- Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy
- Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate investment policy
- Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies
- Ensuring that the accounts are scrutinised through external audits and internal reviews and that any recommendations are implemented
- Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
- Chairing the Resource Mobilisation and Communications Committee (formerly the Finance and Human Resources Committee), leading online meetings three times a year
- Ensuring that organisation has processes in place to meet any compliance requirements
- Ensuring the organisation has a risk management process in place
- Reviewing and signing financial transactions and other documentation requiring board approval

The time commitment is to attend 4 Board meetings a year plus relevant committee meetings. There are always opportunities to become more involved with specific projects, and trustees are strongly encouraged to attend at least 1 Willow fundraising event each year.

- Worked as a senior fundraiser in a charity with a range of public fundraising methods, and are used to setting targets and reviewing the effectiveness of different streams of income. At Willow, you will help to scrutinise and enhance our fundraising strategy and may have experience of data insight and interrogation
You will be joining a dedicated team of Trustees. We currently have 10 board members with a variety of backgrounds and experience including finance, investments, fundraising, PR and communications, management consultancy, events, and legal. We are looking for a Volunteer Store Collection Co-ordinator to help plan and organise these collections in both the East Suffolk area (Felixstowe to Needham Market) and West Suffolk area (Stowmarket to Bury St Edmunds)
Role responsibilities:
- Liaise with our Community Engagement Administrator on locations/dates required and ensure bookings confirmed with store/head office.
- Co-ordinate with Store Managers on logistics/timings for the day.
- Book in volunteer collectors before each date (usually around 6 required for 2 hour shifts each), with assistance from Community Engagement Administrator and send information/reminders before the day to the team.
- Prepare collection buckets with labels and seal with ties.
- Deliver buckets, table and literature to a collector who is doing the first shift.
- Collect the buckets, table and literature from the last collectors and deliver the buckets to a Trustee to count/bank the takings.
- Follow up communications to volunteers, branch team and store manager notifying them of collection total and sending thank you’s.

As a collection coordinator you will enjoy interacting with people and making money for a good cause, you will be;
- Friendly and confident at talking to people
- Experienced in retail and/or customer service although this is not necessary as full training will be given
- Good communication and numeracy skills
- Have access to a vehicle

About us
Penificent is a business seeking to address issues faced by young people and to provide a positive influence through comics and workshops. Our books contain thought-provoking discussion questions directly related to the topic of the book, e.g. mental health, Knife crime etc. The books also have activities for young people to go through during a workshop or at home with their parents,keyworker,appropriate adult. These activities range from colouring to creating your own story that tackles a young person’s choice. Through user feedback, we have learnt that our comic story structure with the questions and activities promote more profound thought in young people than the average workbook or mainstream comic book. We currently run workshops in schools with our comics either in person (before Covid-19) or via zoom due to the pandemic. We have also run workshops with BBC Newsround ( Search: Penificent BBC Newsround) Quotes from Anti Knife crime newsround workshop (Adam 16,:"Living in a notorious area I think it stops me from doing many things like leaving my house and going out.

As a small but passionate charity, we support children and young people aged 5–18 through free, 1:1 in-school mentoring. Your digital skills will help us reach more young people, schools, and supporters—amplifying our impact and helping us tell our story.
You’ll take the lead on shaping and delivering our digital communications strategy, including:
- Creating and managing a content calendar across social media and our website
- Writing and updating blog posts and website content to reflect our latest news, events, and impact
- Designing branded graphics and visuals using Canva (or similar tools)

You will work closely with external partners to ensure they use our branding correctly, effectively market our classes, and maintain open lines of communication.
Key tasks

Branding Compliance - Collaborate with partner organisations to ensure they correctly represent our brand in all marketing materials, including logos, imagery, and messaging.

Marketing Support - Provide guidance and resources to partners for marketing our services effectively, including creating marketing collateral, campaigns, and promotional materials.

Communication Liaison - Serve as the primary point of contact through social media between our organisation and partner organisations, facilitating clear and consistent communication channels.

Training and Onboarding - Conduct training sessions and onboarding for new partner organisations to familiarise them with our brand guidelines, marketing strategies, and communication protocols.
