Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between

You can expect us to

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

We are seeking an experienced Events & Community Fundraising Officer (Volunteer) to join our Fundraising team on an unpaid, volunteer basis. This will be remote support, unpaid volunteering on average 8 hours or 1 day per week to drive funding for our International WASH projects.

EQUAL AQUA is an award-winning NGO providing equal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Uganda. Equal Aqua is managed by an international team of 30+ volunteers, based mainly in the UK and Uganda, but spanning over 10 countries.We are looking to expand and diversify our team of volunteers – seeking candidates with knowledge and skills in various fields, and a deep passion for our cause. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Join our team as a Volunteer Events & Community Fundraising Officer, working alongside the Fundraising Manager to develop and expand our community engagement and events portfolio. Play a pivotal role in creating innovative fundraising products, fostering relationships within our local communities, and supporting key fundraising initiatives to drive income growth and supporter engagement. 

ROLE & RESPONSBILITIES  

• Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to design and implement community and events strategies, including the development of new fundraising products and campaigns. 

• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, corporate partners, and individual fundraisers to generate new income streams. 

• Develop engaging supporter journeys to inspire memorable experiences, encourage repeat contributions, and deepen supporter loyalty. 

• Support the team in planning and delivering special events, including the annual fundraiser concert, Water Wheel, and other high-profile fundraising activities. 

• Secure new corporate partnerships through sponsorships, Charity of the Year and other award programs, and collaborative fundraising initiatives. 

• Lead and coordinate supporter-led fundraising activities, fostering volunteer involvement and building a vibrant, diverse supporter community aligned with our mission. 

• Assist with planning, promotion, and execution of both EA-organized and third-party fundraising events. 

KEY REQUIREMENTS 

ESSENTIAL 

Experience: 

• Demonstrated success in achieving or surpassing fundraising or sales targets within the charity, nonprofit, or commercial sectors. 

• Proven experience working in supporter-focused environments. 

• Solid project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. 

• Experience working within high-performing teams, including remote working arrangements. 

Skills: 

• Excellent networking and relationship management capabilities. 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities. 

• Proficiency in IT tools such as Windows, MS Office, and fundraising databases, particularly Raiser’s Edge (or similar). 

• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills. 

Knowledge: 

• Good understanding of the charity sector, including its challenges and opportunities. 

• Knowledge of regional and corporate fundraising practices. 

• Familiarity with sector legislation and best practices related to fundraising, data protection, health and safety, etc. 

• Deep understanding of EA’s vision, mission, and achievements. 

DESIRABLE: 

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel as needed. 

• Previous experience within the voluntary or charity sector is advantageous. 

COMPETENCIES 

• Proven ability to motivate and influence supporters to meet and exceed fundraising targets. 

• Confident in asking supporters for donations and ongoing support. 

• Skilled in creating compelling, engaging fundraising products. 

• Ability to match supporters' interests with suitable fundraising opportunities to maximize income.

The Brompton Fountain is a children's charity working with those impacted by heart and lung conditions in Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. Our charity provides a wide range of vital resources, services, parent/carer amenities, and accommodation. We also fund medical equipment, facilities improvements and projects outside of the NHS remit. We are currently looking for a Fundraising and Events Volunteer to help our organisation . 

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Stewardship at events to help families and guests.

• Supporting staff with admin at these events so that processes run smoothly.

• Communicating with families and guests who may share personal stories related to the charity. Feeling comfortable and confident to speak to people about our charity and what we do.

• Organising resources for fundraising and event days e.g care packs, running shirts, signage.

You will be supporting our Community Lead and Fundraising Officer who will provide an overview of our existing processes and be there to help you every step of the way. The Brompton Fountain has a strong team of staff and volunteers who you will be working collaboratively with as a team to support the families we are in contact with.

Your input will greatly affect not only the current impact of the charity and how we are able to support the families who need our services, but the longevity and outreach of our work by committing yourself to fundraising for our cause. 

Criteria

We are looking for a volunteer who:

• Does not need prior experience, passion and confidence are far more important!

• Is a great communicator and loves talking to people.

• Is confident and able to be proactive.

• Is flexible and adaptive.

• Is able to partake in physical labour e.g putting up gazebos and carrying around packages for events.

• Has attention to detail.

• Has the ability to drive or access travel around London and South-East as large/many items will be needed at events. 

• Is an empathetic person who is willing to have discussions with families around topics like health issues, additional needs, and bereavement.

• Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these.

• Is willing to have an enhanced DBS check.

• Is willing to partake in safeguarding training.

• Is willing to partake in onboarding training to understand our charity and the mission in more detail.

• Must be over 18.

Location

Whilst we are based at Royal Brompton Hospital, Sydney St, London SW3 6NP, your role will mainly be off site at different locations around London and the South-East to help at fundraising and community events.

Time

Due to our mission, we would greatly appreciate at least 6 weeks of your time, preferably more. This role would not be a set day a week, but rather be for fundraising and event days. These days would normally be Saturdays and Sundays, averaging once a month. We are an understanding and flexible organisation, and would be happy to discuss options with you.

What are Serving Community Teams?     

Volunteers are the lifeblood of SSAFA. SSAFA has developed Serving Community Teams for volunteers to support serving personnel their families in the UK and overseas.     

A Serving Community Team is run by a small team of volunteers on or near a British Armed Forces base which provide emotional, practical and financial support to the serving community. Our Fundraising Volunteers help support local fundraising activities to raise awareness and vital funds for SSAFA. You could be helping at fayres, quizzes or raffles, or lending a hand at a stall at a unit Families Day.

Why we want you

Serving Community Teams (SCTs) offer financial, practical and emotional support to serving personnel and their families at military bases both in the UK and overseas. Each SCT consists of a group of dedicated volunteers working together to raise SSAFA’s profile, ensuring those who need support receive it. Fundraising Volunteers are a support role within the team, helping to raise awareness of SSAFA at fundraising events throughout the year. If you enjoy meeting people while lending a hand at fundraising events, we would love to hear from you. You could be helping at fayres, running quizzes or raffles, cheering at sporting events or having a stall at a unit’s Families Day. Depending on the size of the SCT, you may be supported by a Events and Fundraising Coordinator.

What you will be doing

• Being part of a team helping host events, run stalls, attend fayres and working together to ensure they run well.
• Promoting events, putting up posters and spreading the word.
• Helping to set-up or pack away afterwards.
• Promoting the work of SSAFA and the SCT, highlighting case studies, good news stories and best practice to the Events and Fundraising Coordinator.
• Being an ambassador for SSAFA, building positive relationships with all stakeholders.

The skills you need

• Friendly and approachable with effective communication skills.
• Ability to travel to community venues and set up for events (out of pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with SSAFA policy).
• Confident to chatting to people.
• Basic IT skills to be able to communicate online and access eLearning courses.
• Non-judgemental approach in alignment with SSAFA’s values and standards.
• A willingness to adhere to all relevant organisational policies and procedures.

Requirements     

Volunteers need to be a minimum of 18 years old.   

Time commitment     

Depending on the needs of the team, this role would suit someone who would like to volunteer 2-4 hours a month. There will be times when attendance is required for a team meeting which may be in person or virtually.    

Support     

Full training is provided for this role, with some e-learning modules online. You will also be supported by your SCT chair and Serving Community Support Team.

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Basingstoke Group. As our Fundraising Volunteer you’ll support your Group Coordinator to organise local fundraising activities and events throughout the year.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills.Most importantly you’ll inspire your local community to raise funds that help make sure no one has to face MS alone.

Time Commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.
