Role Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated individual to join us in this newly created HR and Governance role at Dialogue Earth. We are seeking an organised and proactive person to provide day-to-day support across both functions, with around 70% of the role focused on HR. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, global environment while contributing to meaningful work.

The HR and governance officer will lead and manage the organisation’s human resources, governance, and compliance functions. They will ensure that HR function and practices are fair, legally compliant, and aligned with organisational values, and will support the Board of Trustees in fulfilling their governance responsibilities. This role combines operational HR management with oversight of governance processes, supporting a positive, inclusive, and legally compliant working environment.

Main Responsibilities

Human Resources:

● Coordinate recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions and contracts, applicant screening, supporting interviews and collecting references;
● Manage staff onboarding processes and induction material;
● Maintain and update HR policies, the staff handbook, and training records in consultation with the COO;
● Manage the HR system (Natural HR or equivalent) and ensure records are accurate and up to date;
● Manage EAP scheme, training, and benefits (e.g. Climate Perks, glasses benefit, Cycle to Work scheme);
● Coordinate staff performance reviews and support line managers with induction, appraisal, and probation processes;
● Manage visa applications for qualifying staff;
● Ensure compliance with UK employment law and monitor HR legislation changes;
● Support the COO in embedding EDI principles in operational practice.

Governance:

● Provide administrative support to the Board and sub-committees, including scheduling meetings, supporting the COO in preparing papers, and minuting meetings;
● Manage trustee onboarding, training, and compliance requirements;
● Ensure timely and accurate submissions to the Charity Commission and Companies House

Finance:

● Process monthly credit card receipts;
● Budget management, including preparation and expenditure tracking.

General:

● Build collaborative relationships across the organisation.
● Support other operational projects as required.

Essential Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

● Understanding of and a commitment to the mission of the charity
● Experience in HR administration and policy development;
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Further Information and Benefits

● Salary: £37,000 per annum.
● Working Hours: 50% FTE of a four day working week (16 hours per week)

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a team player with a background in education or programme delivery,  who is well-organised and an efficient administrator, with excellent inter-personal skills. They must be intellectually curious with strong research abilities, and are confident and articulate communicators. Alignment with our ethos of seeking to address social division through constructive dialogue is essential.

This role will be responsible for managing the delivery of our cohort programmes including currently: Youth & Democracy, Rule of Law, and Gen Z and the City. There is scope for the development of new programme areas, including working with the arts and our public history project, as we respond to contemporary challenges.

Working closely with: Programme Director, Programme Officer, Communications & Engagement team, Chief Executive, Front of House team

Job Description:

· Work with the Programme team, to design and deliver educational resources, workshops and conferences including our Youth & Democracy, Rule of Law, and intergenerational change programme areas;

· Deliver Exploring Ethics and other Cumberland Lodge workshops as requested;

· Identify potential partners and collaborate with stakeholders related to programme activity;

· Produce funding proposals;

· Produce and/or editing briefing papers and reports when required;

· Produce digital content for online learning and engage regularly with the community engagement platform, including identifying topics, producing webinars and podcasts;

· Act as Duty Officer for 8 weekends (involving, if required, giving welcome talks, leading Exploring Ethics Sessions, and escorting groups to the Royal Chapel). Accommodation is provided on these weekends.

· Attend departmental, staff, and ad hoc planning meetings

· Work with the Communications team to produce website and social media content relating to the Programme.

· Carry out history tours and welcome talks for external guests.

· Carry out other tasks as may be reasonably required to facilitate Cumberland Lodge’s work.

· Act at all times as an ambassador for Cumberland Lodge.

Person specification

You’ll have:

Essential Criteria:

· Undergraduate degree in a relevant social science or humanities discipline;

· Experience working with young people and youth organisations;

· Experience of facilitating group discussion in a learning environment;

· Experience of project and event organisation and management, from inception to evaluation;

· Experience identifying and applying for funding;

· Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, for a range of audiences;

The successful candidate will have a graduate qualification as a minimum requirement, in a relevant social science or humanities discipline, as the role will involve developing programmes with academic content. Working with young people, and experience designing and delivering teaching and/or training material, in formal and/or non-formal education settings, is also an essential criteria.

Desirable Criteria:

· Postgraduate degree in a relevant social science or humanities discipline;

· Conducting research into programme content;

· Design and delivery of online educational material (e.g. podcasting, Arc GIS Storymaps, animations etc).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Based at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park. (Applicants should be aware that Cumberland Lodge is not easily accessible by public transport). 

Hybrid working available, with a minimum 3 days a week in the office.

The role requires flexible working.  There will be some weekend and evening duties, including programme events, facilitating workshops for visiting groups, talks and tours of the Lodge (shared on a rota basis). Accommodation will be provided on site when evening work is required.

In September 2024, National Numeracy launched a new ‘Schools & Families’ programme to support Primary School staff, parents and carers in increasing pupils’ confidence with numbers, positive feelings about maths, and awareness of the value of maths outside of the classroom. The programme also works to improve parents’, carers’, and school staff’s own confidence with numbers and with supporting children with their maths.

The Schools & Families Programme Officer will support the Schools & Families Programme Manager in managing fast-paced activity across the UK, particularly delivering online training directly to school staff, recruiting schools, and visiting selected schools to ensure the success of the programme.

Job Description

Brent Mencap has been passionate about a healthier and fairer Brent since 1979. We’ve developed and run successful housing, employment, health, advice, wellbeing and self-advocacy services. During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-5 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme. Recently we’ve focused on developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.

Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly. People with a learning disability, neurodiversity and their family carers are inclusively supported by social prescribers for advice and by health educators/coaches for health-related matters if needed.

Our current Executive Director, who has led Brent Mencap so well for 25 years wants to retire. The successful candidate will build on Brent Mencap’s history, current success and potential so our long-term passion for a healthier and fairer Brent can evolve and improve the lives of Brent People. We are looking for someone who  

· Has the relevant voluntary sector experience, vision, determination and leadership skills

· Is committed to developing and supporting our diverse staff group

· Can communicate well with users, partners, staff, trustees and funders

· Enjoys influencing and raising awareness

· Understands the lived experience of disability, long term health conditions and inequality  and wants to improve their lives

· Understands the importance of marketing and data to challenge inequality, promote positive change and attract new funds.

· Can develop funding project plans that includes staffing for enhanced  wellbeing and creative activities, for  young people, employment  related support and other identified needs

In addition, they will have to:

· Work with the Board of Trustees and staff to develop our vision, implement strategic plans and  deliver agreed objectives

· Be able to ensure all aspects of our work are done safely, legally, in line with our articles/constitution  and able to assess risks and mitigate them

· Be responsible for staff development, management and all aspects of the administration of the organisation

· Be an ambassador for Brent Mencap, meeting and working with leaders with statutory and voluntary sector, Royal Mencap and local Mencaps

· Represent the lived experiences and voices of people with learning disabilities, neurodivergence, long term conditions and their families who inform our work and the work of others in Brent

· Work late occasionally, attend evening events, meetings and occasional weekends and undertake any other necessary tasks as required to ensure Brent Mencap functions safely.

In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. This job description will be subjected to review with the post holder, from time to time to ensure it accurately reflects the duties and range of the post.

Interview details

· A 4-part Interview with senior staff, self-advocates, operational managers and trustees, will take place at Brent Mencap on Friday 5th or 12th September 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be given a paper-based scenario to complete and send to us on the Thursday before the interview

· We anticipate the full interviews will take 2.5 hours with a 30-minute break at some point.

We are looking for an ambitious new Legacy Giving Lead – someone who brings a passion for hospice care and wants to play a part in growing Legacy Giving at the Hospice. On average, we receive £1 million a year in legacy income but we are keen to grow and sustain this in the future.

This is a critical role that will work with colleagues across the Hospice to raise awareness of legacies and you will contribute your expertise to provide top-tier stewardship to our wonderful legators.

The opportunity...

This is a critical role that will develop and grow a high-performing Legacy Giving programme at The Hospice of St Francis.

You will personally identify, cultivate and steward legacy pledgers through an inspiring engagement programme that both raises awareness of legacies, encourages new pledgers and shows the impact they have on the Hospice’s services.

With a solid understanding of the administration of wills, you will liaise with executors and professional advisors and advise colleagues and the Board on best practice legacy administration.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Legacy Giving specialist to curate a new legacy programme, building on previous work, to grow income for the future.

The must haves:

• Fundraising Success: At least five years’ experience of delivering a Legacy Giving programme with success in driving acquisition and relationship management
• Technical expertise: Practical understanding of the practical implications of legal and financial aspects of wills
• Driving awareness and engagement: Experience of developing and executing legacy awareness initiatives internally and externally
• Systems and processes: using client relationship management systems, tracking KPIs and managing projects
• Proven expertise in relationship building internally and externally

The it would be great to haves:

• Experience working with professional advisors such as lawyers, accountants and wealth managers
• Knowledge of regular/mid-value or in-mem giving
• Experience of DonorFy
• Experience of fundraising in a Hospice setting
• Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or Certificate in Legacy Fundraising

We are recruiting a Suicide Prevention Officer who is bilingual in Welsh and English to facilitate the development, sale and delivery of high quality and impactful training and education programmes, upskilling individuals and organisations in suicide prevention.

What you will do:

• Facilitate in-person and online training sessions, ensuring interactive and impactful learning experiences.
• Develop and promote PAPYRUS’s training offer, tailoring to stakeholder needs and securing sales.
• Build relationships and partnerships to expand our reach and influence.
• Support the creation of e-learning and digital training resources.
• Prepare stakeholders for, and debrief them after, suicide interventions.
• Stay informed of best practice and national strategy, contribute to campaigns, and represent PAPYRUS in the media and at events.
• Champion safeguarding, health and safety, and equality across all activity.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A degree or professional qualification in a relevant field such as Education, Counselling, Training, Psychology, Community Development or Youth Work.
• A recognised training qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience in delivering and developing training programmes and community-based projects in both English and Welsh.
• Ability to manage sensitive conversations and facilitate learning in emotionally complex areas.
• Strong relationship-building, presentation and time management skills.
• Professional curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding.
• Confidence in working independently and remotely, with ability to travel as required.

Salary: £30,559 per annum (Scale SCP 18), progressing by increments to £33,366 per annum (Scale SCP 23)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week  

Location: Although this role is home based, the applicant should be based in Cardiff due to the regular travel across the area. There is also requirement to travel across the wider area of Wales and West of England.

Contract: Permanent
