About the role
This position involves leading and contributing to identified nutrition focused cancer and nutrition projects within Macmillan engaging with internal and external stakeholders. There will be a particular focus on the following areas:
- Review and development of Macmillan nutrition resources from an equality, diversity and inclusion perspective, working on focused pieces of work with communities to co-produce nutrition information through focus groups/attending relevant community events and discussing the importance of nutrition.
- Leading a nutrition focused partnership project(s) in identified areas with poorer quality health outcomes.
- Development of scoping work to understand the opportunities for creating a single point of access for nutrition and cancer resources.
About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- track record of management and clinical leadership
- ability to bring insight, ideas, experience and thought leadership to the role to inform nutrition information for different groups and communities
- strong interest in community engagement and empowering people with cancer along with supporting those with poorer outcomes
- good working knowledge of the current healthcare and social care system and current issues involved in supporting and engaging communities as well as contemporary knowledge of nutrition and dietetics.

Our BACP accredited Talking Therapies department has been running for over 40 years and we are historically known for providing long term psychodynamic therapy. We are recruiting an Information & Advice Adviser who will be joining a progressive, inclusive and dynamic team, an integral part of our Community Support model, and wider Age UK Merton services.
The Information & Advice Adviser is a vital role that works directly with older people who come to the service seeking information and advice on pension age benefits.
Last year the service worked to support over 800 older adults with information and advice on benefits, health, housing and care, and assisted the uptake of nearly £400,000 of previously unclaimed benefits.
An important part of this role will be to triage initial client needs which have been referred into the service by both internal and external partners, this will then ensure the team provides the right advice and high-quality support, whether on the phone, email or face to face.
You will be joining an accredited advice service (with the Advice Quality Standard), delivered by a high calibre team and you will be given opportunities to train and develop in the role.

National LGBT+ Independent Victim Advocate
Do you want to make life better for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse?
Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do.
We run three national support helplines for LGBT+ victims and survivors of domestic abuse, so-called “conversion therapy, ”and hate crime. We provide advocacy services, both in London and nationally, for LGBT+ victims who need longer-term support. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.
We use what we learn through working on the frontlines with clients to work on national and local policy change, to improve outcomes for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence. We build evidence through key pieces of research, like our upcoming report into LGBT+ experiences of sexual violence. We push for legislative change, improved statutory guidance for victims, and better understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people around the country.
About the role
You will be joining our growing national advocacy team, supporting survivors remotely across the UK and providing Face-to-face support, office based, or community-based support in Wales which will be
delivered in the context of a confidential and a safe space for survivors. You will work directly with LGBT+ victims/survivors, offering them a space to talk and think through options, helping them plan what they want to do, and offering assistance in getting what they need from services. Your work will focus on needs specifically related to experiences of abuse or violence, including issues such as wellbeing, support with the criminal and civil justice process, safety and access to other services to enable survivors to cope and recover. You will be empathetic and thoughtful in your approach to understanding your clients’ needs, while maintaining boundaries and mindful of self-care.
Providing advice, advocacy and support to LGBT+ victims/survivors of abuse and violence, with a focus on so-called conversion practices, which will include:
- Remotely supporting, advising and advocating for a national caseload of LGBT+ people who have been subjected to abuse or violence. The focus of the support will be to LGBT+ victims/survivors of so-called conversion practices
- Ensuring your approach to contact with clients is trauma-informed, empowerment-based and person-centred.
- Providing information and support to enable clients to make informed choices and meet their individual needs.
- Assisting victims/survivors in dealing with the diverse impacts of harm and abuse (safety, emotional, social, financial, or practical).
- Assisting/supporting clients in navigating the criminal/civil justice systems, ensuring they are aware of their rights and options.
- Maintaining professional boundaries at all times and ensuring that clients understand the remit of the service.
Partnership working
- Providing appropriate referrals/signposting to other agencies including, housing, welfare, counselling and other support services.
- Maintaining positive working relationships with key agencies and Galop partners, including attending internal/external meetings, with a focus on Wales.
- Working with agencies to safeguard victims and survivors, keeping them informed of relevant changes to a client’s situation.
Monitoring and evaluation
- Ensuring all client records are maintained and treated in confidence, according to Galop policies and GDPR legislation.
- Keeping accurate records of work undertaken with clients in line with Galop’s policies and funder agreements.
- Assist collecting monitoring data and client feedback for reports.
- Understanding of and commitment to inclusive working with LGBT+ clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Acting in accordance with Galop policies, procedures and ethos.
- Being an active member of the Galop team, attending regular staff team meetings, attending clinical supervision and training.
- Participating and contributing to Galop service planning & strategic development, with a focus on Wales.
About you
You will have expertise in delivering needs-led specialist support services. You will need to be solutions-focused and enjoy working collaboratively across a diverse and committed team. You’ll need to have good resilience and self-care and be prepared to work in an environment where abuse and violence are regularly talked about. You’ll need to understand the impact of trauma and how that affects our team.
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder has experience of LGBT+ needs and the impact of discrimination. About the role:
We are excited to be taking the lead in the London Whole Housing Service Partnership (LWHSP) which will address and enhance the pathways of housing support for women experiencing domestic abuse, from removing them from immediate harm, to enabling recovery and resettlement across all levels of need. The LWHSP are seeking to build on our delivery across 11 East and West London boroughs of the Whole Housing Approach (WHA).
The Housing IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process. You will specialise in working with clients for whom housing, and risk of tenancy breakdown is a factor. You will work within the team to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. You will hold a caseload of survivors and will also be required to work as part of Advance’s duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.
About You:
As a Housing IDVA, you will need to have a degree of flexibility for colocation work across London boroughs; providing support to women who have experienced domestic violence, focusing on individuals with housing or tenancy issues. Working in our fast-paced crisis intervention, advocacy and support service, you’ll ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process. You will have your own caseload of survivors and will focus on working with those aged 18 and over who access our domestic abuse service.
You will bring experience in providing independent domestic violence advocacy and support for women who approach housing advice and assessment for help. Ideally experience in working with housing service providers, and advising women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies. You will have the ability to develop individual safety and support plans in-line with the clients’ needs and the risks they face.

As a Housing Domestic Abuse Advocate, you will provide intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse. Working within a fast-paced team, you will help empower women and ensure that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. You will have your own caseload of survivors who hold social tenancies with local authorities or housing associations, and you will encourage them to engage with our service and ensure they have access to support. To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:
You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job. You will have a good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities. We will expect that you have experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have and an understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children. Lastly you will bring your knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation.

Finance

- Managing and supporting the Finance Manager.

· Manage all operations budgets and external contract relationships in line with forecast ensuring value for money and delivery is in line with agreed project scope/specifications and high-quality service.

· Business Continuity and Disaster Management Plan reviewing to ensure risk management/mitigation.
Other
· Strategic management of the Saint Paul’s Centre and all business related to it, ensuring we meet our targets and ensuring good working relationships with clients to help secure repeat business from large clients.
· Oversight of the café, helping to improve our offerings and ensure management of the team and operational effectiveness.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
