About this exciting opportunity
As Women’s Wellbeing Coach, you will provide person-centred, holistic, and trauma-informed support to female adults serving custodial sentences or Community Orders. This includes conducting trauma-informed assessments and collaboratively developing action plans that align with prescribed outcomes.

The role involves delivering a range of tailored interventions, including group sessions, to help service users achieve their goals. Building and maintaining effective partnerships with external agencies such as Probation, Prisons, and other relevant organisations is essential to support positive outcomes. A proactive commitment to continuous learning and development is also key to ensuring the delivery of a consistently high-quality service for all service users.

· Proven ability and experience as a caseworker delivering gender specific and trauma responsive interventions which support resettlement and rehabilitation of female adults in the criminal justice system whether in the community or in prisons.

· Experience of working with females and supporting them to achieve positive outcomes.

· Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, for example people who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and people who are angry and confused

· Experience in delivery of 1:1 and group coaching solutions, including preparation and delivery of skills and learning.

· Experience in working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director’s role is to lead Firefly International in its mission to safeguard, extend and develop the activities conducted by its overseas partners.  Within that over-arching goal, to:

• Provide strategic leadership in collaboration with the Chair of the Trustee Board

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new community based service supporting offenders as they transition from prison back into the community; rather than a custodial setting, where residents are able to go out into the community depending on their licence restrictions. As our Housing Lead, you play a vital role in supporting residents futures by working closely with housing stakeholders and residents to create tailored, effective move on plans. You help ensure people have the right tools, support and opportunities to rebuild their lives, reconnect with the community and move forward with confidence in their rehabilitation journey.

Some Key Responsibilities include:

• Act as the main point of contact between landlords, housing associations, local authorities, private landlords, wider Social Interest Group Services, and our residents
• Work with the wider team to support residents with their long term needs
• Provide specialist support to the wider team to ensure they are regularly trained and kept up to date with policies and procedures, including government changes
• Provide regular reports and updates
• Manage current resident tenancies, ensuring timely rent payment
• Support with property and building management and maintenance including scheduling repairs

About You

We're looking for someone who has knowledge on different types of tenancies, an understanding of the types of needs of our resident group, and able to provide tailored solutions to meet their long term goals. You will have a true passion to support in making a change, supporting rehabilitation, and providing opportunities to people to make positive changes to their lives, and reintegrate into society. You will have a general understanding of the criminal justice system, and/or have experience supporting people with multiple/complex needs. Further, you will have:

• Previous experience in coordinating/delivering activities and interventions with people from different backgrounds
• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector
• Knowledge of risk management and risk assessment
• Knowledge of license conditions and public protection
• Knowledge of tenancy management, able to share knowledge with others in the team and residents
• Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
• The ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral. Ability to form and build effective relationships and rapport with others
• Ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others; Proactive in making decisions

The Survivor Engagement and Activism Coordinator leads the Helen Bamber Foundation’s work to ensure that survivors of trafficking, torture, and human rights abuses are meaningfully involved in shaping services, influencing policy, and driving social change. Working within the Community and Integration team, the post holder safeguards and supports clients as they participate in advocacy, leadership, and organisational development projects.

They oversee key survivor engagement programmes, including the Ambassadors for Change advocacy and leadership programme, the Client Voices Forum, the Board Advisers, and the Alumni Network. This involves coordinating training, facilitating meetings, supporting campaigns, managing administrative processes, and ensuring survivors are prepared, empowered, and safe throughout their involvement.

The role also involves developing innovative ways for survivors to collaborate with staff, contributing to service design, organisational strategy, and sector-wide initiatives. The post holder builds relationships across the asylum and modern slavery sectors, manages lived experience opportunities, and may support client progression and education casework when needed.

Throughout all responsibilities, the Coordinator champions survivor leadership, promotes diversity and inclusion, maintains the ethos of the charity, and practices strong self-care while working with traumatic material.

Main purpose of post

• Provide direct support to people affected by cancer by meeting in person with or providing digital or telephone support to people using the service (patients/clients, carers, relatives, professionals).

• Provide high quality information and support within defined level of competence in relation to cancer.  This will include assessment of service users’ information and support needs (Holistic Needs Assessment/Cancer Care Review), provision of written or verbal information, supportive listening and action planning to facilitate self-management. 

• Manage referrals from clinical teams in a timely manner, liaising with clinical teams, primary care teams and community partners where necessary.

• Provide care coordination around the individual to ensure their experience of support feels seamless and is transparent, including support from partner agencies.

What you do

 

 

Delivery of information and support to people living with and beyond cancer and their families

 

• Provide information and support within level of competence of the post (Macmillan Levels of Intervention Criteria L1,2,3,4; NICE approved four tier model of psychological support Level 1, 2 & 3).

• This will include:

• Assess the needs of individuals attending / contacting the service and identify the required level of intervention.

• Support users sensitively to help them understand clinical information they have been given (e.g. around diagnosis, treatment, effects of the illness and treatment, cancer terminology), helping to resolve situations where users feel they have been given conflicting information. This will include addressing concerns and queries and working to resolve them and the ability to recognise and work within the limits of own competence and responsibility is crucial, referring issues beyond these limits to relevant people. 

• Understand that there will be frequent exposure to distressing/ highly distressing situations and deal with difficult and highly emotive situations in a sensitive manner and base decisions on own professional judgement.

• Deal with service users with complex enquiries or support needs, or who need help in accessing or understanding information, referring to appropriate members of the wider clinical team (CNS, oncologist) when appropriate or signpost them to other supportive services.

• Liaise with clinical staff to support patients and carers in distress.

• Demonstrate a high level of skill acquired through relevant training or equivalent experience whilst demonstrating awareness of the limits of own practice and knowledge and when to seek appropriate support/ advice.

• Provide supporting information around topics such as reducing the risk of cancer, healthy living, diagnosis, treatment options, side effects and living with cancer, in the most appropriate format (e.g. written, verbal, and others as appropriate to overcome any barriers to communication).

• Provide advice on a range of issues e.g. benefits, travel insurance, and facilitate access to services e.g. specialist benefits advice, complementary therapy.

• Liaise with relevant staff at all levels as appropriate both within the charity and externally to address issues identified, and seek advice with more complex issues, directly involving others where necessary, e.g. Clinical Lead (HCP), Cancer Information and Support Advisors, Head of Cancer Support Services; Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS). 

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective relationships with partner organisations in primary and secondary and the voluntary the sector via networking, also giving talks and presenting at relevant groups. 

• Plan and deliver ‘pop-up’ information clinics, ensuring these pop-up clinics are evaluated.

• Lead the development and delivery of courses and workshops.

• Lead peer support groups and service-user involvement.

 

Operational Delivery

 

• Collect and collate data regarding contacts with people who use the service both in person and by telephone and produce reports of activity as required.

• Plan and organise events and displays externally liaising with departments and agencies as required.

• Lead discrete projects or service improvements under direction of the Head of Cancer Support Services

• Work flexibly to deliver the objectives of the cancer support service, including attending events and outreach sessions across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Bassetlaw.

• Ensure service user participation in development of the service, including facilitating forums and meetings.

• Facilitate open and effective communication with multi-professional teams, both internally and externally.

• Maintain systems and processes to promote a healthy, safe and secure working environment and maintain accurate documentation and report any concerns.

You will play a key role in helping residents who have recently left prison settle into our residential setting and take positive steps toward reintegrating into the community. You will work closely with residents to create tailored support plans that reflect their individual needs and help them move toward successful rehabilitation. By identifying each resident’s needs, goals and skills, you will support and motivate them to achieve their potential. The service is committed to focus on public protection and effective risk management.

Some Key Responsibilities Include:

• Protecting and promoting the safety and wellbeing of residents and participants at all times.
• Engaging with residents throughout the night to ensure they are meeting their license conditions. This includes planning activities such as movie nights, game nights, and other suitable events to keep them involved and motivated.
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team on the night shift, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service
• Building trusting professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through tailored one to one sessions, group sessions, in and out of service activities, and general wellbeing check ins
• Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals

About You

We are seeking someone with a genuine passion for making a difference and helping to create safer communities for everyone. You will be comfortable working within the criminal justice setting, and supporting residents to have access to the tools and resources to better enhance their quality of life after their release from prison. You will have insight into criminal justice settings and the ability to connect with people from varied backgrounds who face multiple and complex challenges. We look for adaptability, proactiveness, and confidence within your own skillset and ability to drive meaningful impact. We also look for:

• Understanding the housing and social challenges faced by people with multiple and complex needs.
• Cultural awareness, Self-awareness, and ability to identify personal growth areas and take feedback
• Ability to use IT systems to record case notes, email relevant people, and use other software required within the role
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents
• Understanding and/or practical application of key legislation regarding social care, housing, criminal justice and complex needs

About the Role and the Service

This is an exciting opportunity to join us at the heart of a brand new service in Milton Keynes as a Carers Wellbeing Navigator — a role for someone who’s passionate about empowering unpaid carers and shaping real change.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, multi-agency ‘hub’ approach, working in partnership with expert local service providers, offering a “no wrong door” for unpaid carers in Milton Keynes who are seeking support.

In this dynamic position, you’ll provide personalised, specialist support to carers of people living with mental health challenges and/or addictions.

Whether meeting carers in person or over the phone you will explore their needs, co-create support plans, and guide them towards the right information, resources, and services.

Beyond direct support, you’ll also help to raise the profile of unpaid carers across the city, getting involved in community celebrations, awareness campaigns, and events like National Carers Week, ensuring carers’ voices are heard and valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a service and ensure outcomes which supports unpaid carers who are caring for someone experiencing difficulties with their mental health and/or additions, in line with the service delivery model, contractual requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
• Promote and raise awareness of this service across Milton Keynes including building relationships with referral organisations, VSCE and statutory services and the wider community.
• Build effective collaborative relationships with other hub partners and attend partner meetings when required.
• Support with effective referral routes in to and out of the service which break down any access barriers.
• Contribute to the development and review of service delivery.
• Effectively manage and process referrals into the service and prioritise a caseload of unpaid carers that ensures timely and effective support in line with the service delivery model.
• Carry out an initial assessment of individual support needs, priorities and risk, in line with the Access to Service procedure and processes.
• Enable individuals to explore the situation that is affecting their mental health and wellbeing and work with them to co-produce a personalised support plan to help address their immediate needs.
• Offer focused support with the aim of building knowledge, skills, confidence, independence and resilience.
• Signpost, and support to access, other relevant organisations and the wider community offer to address wider issues affecting their mental health.
• Share personalised information and advice about each unique circumstance and provide resources to support the carers mental health and wellbeing.
• Develop and facilitate peer support groups for unpaid carers who are caring for someone experiencing difficulties with their mental health and/or additions
• Carry out health and safety responsibilities as directed by Managers in line with Mind BLMK’s H&S policies, procedures, and guidance (risk assessments, reviews, reporting, safeguarding, incidents/accidents, premises).
