Introduction to the Board Development programme

What we offer and what we ask of you

As an associate, you will be involved in the delivery of aspects of the Board Development programme including our well led and effectiveness reviews. You will work with, and collaborate with, a group of talented fellow associates with a varied range of skills and capabilities, as well as board experience, NHS experience, coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills. Your responsibilities will include delivering dynamic training sessions using pre-prepared materials; delivery could be online or face to face. On occasion you will also be required to utilise your skills and experience to support the development and maintenance of new and existing training session materials. This role requires a passionate individual with a strong background in corporate governance and a proven track record of facilitating engaging and impactful training sessions.

We will support you by offering you commissioned pieces of work on a daily rate, either to help scope and deliver bespoke board development work with NHS trusts and other system partners, or to help us deliver our open courses, where we will be proactive in confirming the agenda and briefing you on content. We ask all of our associates to sign an associate contract which means we can approach you with offers of work over the course of the year. We will ensure you have sufficient information about the trusts, and other clients, that you will be working with. When appropriate, we will provide you with training opportunities to support your facilitation of training sessions.

Description of the associate role

We are looking for NHS governance specialists to join our associate pool. We are looking for individuals with a mixture of experience including:

• Significant experience of working at board level.
• Sound knowledge of NHS governance.
• Experience of, and an ability to articulate what a good board looks like.
• Having a good understanding of and an ability to bring to life what effective governance as well as technically sound governance processes means for NHS organisations.
• Ability to translate theory into practical insights in a board development setting.
• Ability to understand and sift through detail and pick out the key improvement points to focus on and suggest practical improvements.
• Proactive approach to building and maintaining effective client relationships, including excellent levels of communication.
• Strong organisational skills.

The role

We are looking for an energetic and proactive individual to join our friendly team. As Research Manager of Patient Programmes, you'll have a crucial role in advancing our mission. A central focus of this role is to develop and lead patient-centred educational programs, webinars, and content that ensure patients are well-informed, actively engaged, and empowered throughout their journey. You will also play a key role in strengthening the Foundation’s connection with patients and advocacy groups, ensuring their voices are meaningfully reflected in our research agenda and broader mission. A critical and growing area of work for the Foundation is the systematic gathering and use of patient insights and data. This role will help shape and deliver that work, ensuring that lived experience informs everything we do, from research to support initiatives.

Strengthening patient engagement and education

• Education: Lead the delivery of impactful, patient-centred educational initiatives such as webinars, polls, and video content to inform and empower people living with FL, their families, and carers, and align with the Foundation’s mission to accelerate progress toward cure.

Planning and management of scientific events

• Scientific Event Management: Lead the end-to-end project management of scientific events, conferences, and symposiums, ensuring smooth execution, timely delivery, and alignment with strategic goals.
• Patient Voice Integration: Ensure the patient voice is actively integrated into event planning and content, fostering meaningful collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and the patient community.
• Event Content Development and Impact Reporting: Coordinate development of workshop and conference materials, and support comprehensive outcome reporting to capture key insights and inform future initiatives.

Other duties

• Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop materials for engaging donors. Provide research insights and data to support fundraising efforts, grants and donor communication.

Main Purpose

The Royal College of Pathologists is seeking a ServiceDesk Manager to lead the IT ServiceDesk and operational management of the IT function. The post holder will have a proven track record of leading a team of ServiceDesk Analyst to provide support for the College's IT and AV technology transformation. The role will be responsible for overseeing the day to day support of the IT and AV services across the RCPath. Reporting to the Head of IT, the ServiceDesk Manager is a highly visible and leading role within the IT Team and will work closely with all departments and the Senior Management Team. The following are some of the key requirements for the role:

• To lead the support of college-wide data and business applications. This includes Microsoft 365, Open Engage (and the new Dynamics 365 replacement) and associated interfaces to the College websites, LEPT (Learning Environment for Pathology Trainees) and other business application services.
• To ensure that the IT supporting services (IT & Audio Visual) are operational on a 24x7, 365-day basis.
• To manage the continual service improvement for the support of all business systems and associated processes.
• To support College users and events in the use of business applications and Audio Visual equipment, including identifying and supporting training for users (as required).

Community charity Groundwork South has a unique opportunity for an energetic, people-focused, self-motivated Senior Project Officer to join our Communities Prepared team to develop and provide community resilience training and support for a diverse range of communities.

Summary of role: Communities Prepared is our flagship England-wide community resilience programme which provides training and support to community volunteers and the wider public – helping them to build their confidence, skills, and knowledge to prepare for, respond to, and recover from various threats, including severe weather events amplified by climate change.

As a member of the Programmes team, the Programme Lead (Path Protection) will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of the programme across GB.

• Lead on the design, development and operational delivery of the Path Protection programme across GB.
