About the role:

We are looking for a compassionate and committed Youth Support and Project Officer to join our SANEline Services team with a dedicated focus on supporting young people affected by mental health.
 

In this role you will;

- Deliver emotional support and to both adults and young people

- Shape and lead on a youth helpline and/or written service

- Help build and shape youth focused services at SANE

About Shooting Star Children’s Hospices

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Support Team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

 Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, our teams support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Family support is provided to families in 15 different languages.

About the role

Family Support Workers (FSW) are the frontline of our care. Each FSW holds a caseload of end-of-life and bereaved families. They get to know their families, and check-in regularly with phone calls and home visits and can provide enhanced emotional support where required through more regular contact and interventions. Our FSWs tell families about the many services they can access at Shooting Star, assess their needs and make recommendations to our multi-disciplinary team. They  support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible. This includes providing support in a family’s first language. Several families cared for by Shooting Star speak Gujarati.

Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.

The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:

• Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.
• Helping with support groups and family events
• Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.
• Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes – specifically Gujrati speaking families.
• Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).
• Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.
• Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.
• Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.
• Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.

The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.

The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Once a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.

About you

This role requires experience of working with children and families who have experienced hardship, or those with complex needs. You should have a calm, positive manner, conveying empathy whilst maintaining professional boundaries. We are looking for someone who is fluent in Gujarati, who is passionate about supporting children and families.

Our Personal Safety Project (PSP) is a free service which aims to help older people who have fallen or are at risk of falling at home. The service is available to anyone aged 50 and over who lives in the borough of Croydon.

Our trained assessors carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to identify potential causes of falls and hazards in the home and can arrange for stair rails, grab handles and other necessary aids to be supplied and/or fitted, free of charge. The project can provide ongoing telephone support for up to six weeks to monitor the risk of further falls post engagement.

As an Income and Housing Officer you will help to maximise the organisation's rental income collection,n effectively manage rent arrears and deal with other breaches of the occupancy agreement.

What you'll do:
* Take responsibility for maximising rent collection across a defined patch of Look Ahead's portfolio of properties ensuring that rent collection targets are met and tenancies sustained

* Advise operational teams on their support related arrears management activities, including holding local surgeries with tenants and staff, taking direct control of higher level and more complex arrears cases

* Proactively monitor all current and former accounts within the defined patch and make recommendations to the Housing Manager for appropriate former accounts to be written off or referred to Look Ahead's debt collection agency

* Ensure that the rent collection function is carried out both sensitively and in a timely fashion so as to avoid the build up of excessive arrears and record all case details accurately.

* Ensure that all sign ups within the defined patch are done accurately on the correct type of tenancy and at the correct rent and service charge levels.

* Prepare files and documents for legal action and present cases in County Court hearings for possession claims, money judgements

The Barnsley Street Project is a pilot service funded by NHS money following a bid by East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT). The service comprises of Look Ahead staff, ELFT staff, and Tower Hamlets Mental Health VCSE Alliance, formed of 17 local VCSE organisations. The Barnsley Street Project operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support for people in the catchment area of one primary care network in Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets. It provides a variety of psychosocial and clinical interventions, including the provision of 6 Hospitality Beds for short term support and intervention.

Support Workers within the Barnsley Street Project will be expected to support individuals requiring support from the local community that walk in to the service and those staying in our hospitality beds. This support may include providing tailored and co-produced practical, emotional, trauma-informed support to individuals with a variety of challenges relating to their mental health. This may include the management of symptoms, social support, navigating benefits and welfare systems, practical skills and signposting to specialist services in the local authority for intensive or specific support as required.

The shift pattern for this role involves two 13-hour shifts per week (07:30-20:30), including Wednesdays.

Financial Controller

About you

As Financial Controller you will oversee our finance function ensuring that our management reporting, payroll, VAT, forecasting, sales and purchase ledger processes run as efficiently as possible and safeguard the assets of the charity.

What the job involves 

We’re looking for an exceptional nurse to join the Specialist Nurses team at Prostate Cancer UK, part of our wider Support Services team that helps men and their loved ones to navigate the challenges of prostate cancer.

First and foremost, you’ll be providing invaluable information and support directly to men and their families via a range of channels, including telephone, email, webchat, and WhatsApp. 

You’ll also work with other teams across the charity, ensuring that Prostate Cancer UK maintains a strong, credible clinical voice in all its activity. This will range from supporting men through webinars and classes, to delivering education sessions to health professionals, to reviewing health information resources, to supporting communications campaigns. 

Please note that there is no face-to-face patient contact as part of this role, and the team’s remit is contained to information and support – not clinical advice. 

You’ll be working Monday – Friday, with a hybrid working model. The service runs predominantly remotely, but periodical office attendance for collaborative work is expected. 

Current daily shift patterns are 8.45am – 4.45pm or 9.15am – 5.15pm. The appointee will need to be available 8.45am – 5.15pm daily, as shift patterns are allocated based on service requirements.  

What we want from you 

You’ll be a registered nurse with solid experience at NHS Band 6, including recent work in either urology, oncology or palliative care looking after men with prostate cancer. You’ll bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise your work effectively and flexibly. You’ll also be flexible and adaptable to meet the complex demands of this role. You’ll show willingness and proactivity to step away from frontline service delivery to support a range of wider charity activity. You’ll also be comfortable with remote working, both in terms of delivering information and support over the phone and working in a remote team.

As a Specialist Nurse, you’ll be committed, enthusiastic and compassionate – keen to apply your existing clinical experience and knowledge to provide information and support to those affected by prostate cancer and have the desire to develop new skills.

The postholder will work closely with designated client groups to support organisational change, including restructures, TUPE processes, and the implementation of new services. A key aspect of the role is coaching and supporting line managers to lead inclusively and in alignment with the organisation's values, as well as helping embed learning and development initiatives across teams. The role involves providing expert HR guidance on employee relations and employment law, particularly in complex or sensitive cases. This includes managing issues such as conduct, performance, absence, griev
ances, and whistleblowing. As a member of the Resolution Hub, the HR Business Partner also leads mediation and conflict resolution efforts. The role ensures that HR practices are legally compliant and reflective of Hestia's values, collaborating with other departments to continually improve and align the people strategy.
In addition, the postholder oversees wellbeing and benefits initiatives, maintaining internal platforms and working with third-party providers. They use data to monitor engagement and uptake, guiding improvements and equipping managers with the tools to support staff effectively. The role also includes project management responsibilities, such as vendor transitions and scheme enhancements, to strengthen Hestia's overall employee value proposition.
The HR Business Partner will also take a lead in business change processes, ensuring due diligence during TUPE and structural changes, while facilitating smooth onboarding and offboarding experiences for staff. Externally, they may represent the organisation as the main HR contact. Data analysis and reporting are essential, with the postholder tracking key HR metrics and contributing to both internal and external reports, such as those for the Charity Commission.
Finally, the role involves supporting broader HR functions, including recruitment and HR operations, as well as chairing and coordinating team meetings. There is a strong emphasis on contributing to and leading EDI and anti-racism strategies, supporting internal network groups, and collaborating with Hestia's recognised trade union, Unison.
