Job description

Purpose of Job

The Non-Corporate Fundraising Officer role will work cross-organisationally to identify funding opportunities from statutory, trust & foundation, and lottery sources and support in proposal development in order to enable BITC’s work in communities, and its campaigning priorities. This role represents an exciting opportunity for a skilled and goals-driven individual with an interest and passion for fundraising, business development and organisational growth, by leveraging the diverse resources of business, the public sector, and charitable funders to positively impact communities and Responsible Business practice.

The role will work across the organisation, working closely with the following teams:

  • Delivery & Impact: Seeks to create strong business leadership engagement, an active network inspiring responsible business action in every region and nation, and strong partnerships for impact. These in turn drive more engaged members, increased retention, and a stronger new member pipeline.
  • Membership: Responsible for accelerating BITC’s growth and impact by retaining, acquiring and growing engagement with members, ensuring that all BITC activity adds value to them. Collaborative working will be required for foundations with a strong link to a business.
  • Campaigns & Content: To increase the positive impact Responsible Business has on society by providing campaigns and content that engage & add value to members, help drive increased and improved levels of Responsible Business action, and supports BITC to grow the movement, deepen engagement with and retain members. Current campaigning areas include Age, Employment & Skills, Race, Gender, Health & Wellbeing, and Climate Action.
  • Strategy & Advisory: To enable BITC and the organisations we engage with to drive positive societal and environmental change for a better future. Key activities which may attract non-corporate funding include cross-organisational mentoring circles (to provide mentoring to black, Asian, and ethnic minority employees from partner organisations) and advisory support (e.g., supporting small businesses towards net-zero carbon)

About Delivery & Impact

The work of the Delivery & Impact directorate focusses on four priority areas:

  • Networks: We drive collective action through business leadership, creating networks of responsible business – locally regionally and nationally to tackle the prevalent issues in places where we enable positive change to take place. Backed by the power of our membership over 500 of the UK’s leading and most responsible businesses, networks form the basis of our work supporting the long-term regeneration of Blackpool, championing climate change action in the West Midlands, leading the fight against food insecurity in Nottingham, and the National Business Response Network.
  • People: We work with individuals, supporting them on their journey to employment, and improving older and vulnerable people’s digital skills. In response to rising levels of unemployment, we are scaling up our job coaching programme, mobilising our member employee army with the ambition of supporting 10,000 job seekers in the next two years.
  • Places: We bring together leaders from business, charity and local government to catalyse the long-term regeneration of our left-behind towns. Building on our work with members on the regeneration of Blackpool and Wisbech, we are working in Bradford, Coventry, Lowestoft, Norwich, Rochdale and St Austell.
  • Partnerships: Building on the work of the National Business Response Network, through which we have supported over 1.3 million people, we are developing a longer-term proposition to connect high- potential front-line organisations with business skills to address growing social issues (e.g., domestic abuse, youth mental health, unemployment).
