The Role: Trustee

The Trust is now seeking a Chair of the Board of Trustees for an initial term of three years. The Chair will provide strategic leadership to the Board, delivering its responsibilities of governance and oversight of the Trust. The Chair will guide and support the Chief Executive Officer in shaping and delivering the Trust’s strategic plan, and where necessary challenge them to ensure the Trust’s financial health and that all operational activities are aligned to its mission and values.

The Chair of the Board of Trustees will be required to possess:

• A strong and genuine passion and commitment to the Trust’s mission and values.
• Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level, with a successful track record of achievement.
• Experience of governance in the charity sector, with experience at Board-level; either as a Board member or in a senior advisory role. 
• A broad knowledge and understanding of the not-for-profit sector, and the current issues effecting it. 
• Financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charity-specific finance issues. 
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to foster and promote a positive and collaborative team-working environment.

The Chair of the Board of Trustees will be required to commit to 2 to 4 days each month, including attendance at quarterly Board meetings and an annual general meeting. The Chair may also be required to attend sub-committee meetings and other meetings or away-days as deemed necessary. 

This role is unremunerated; however, expenses will be reimbursed for reasonable travel and other expenses. The Chair will serve an initial three-year term, renewable for one additional term.

Goldsmiths Students’ Union is a charity representing over 10,000 students studying at Goldsmiths, University of London, on issues that matter to them. We are student-led, with hundreds of volunteers, dozens of part-time elected officers, and four Sabbatical Officers - students who have been elected by their peers to take a year out of their studies to lead us from the front.

They partner with schools and families to look beyond the classroom to understand and tackle the issues affecting children’s ability to be at school and engaged in their learning. SHS is now looking to appoint their next Vice Chair of Trustees – ideally, someone with previous experience of being a Trustee or a Charity Deputy CEO/CEO who can demonstrate experience in helping an organisation with their strategy, governance and management. About the opportunity

We are seeking committed vegetarians and vegans to join our volunteer board of trustees.

Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is the only UK charity specifically dedicated to supporting older vegetarians and vegans. If you share our belief that all older people should be enabled to maintain their chosen diet and lifestyle, have access to trusted information, and enjoy good quality plant-based food wherever they live, this role may be of interest to you.

Our trustees work with the CEO of VfL and its operational team to ensure strong governance and help realise the strategic aims of this unique and growing charity. Since its formation in 2007, VfL has earned widespread respect for its advocacy, training, and resources that support dignity and choice in later life.

In line with our new Vision for 2030, we are looking to strengthen our board with a new trustee who brings experience of business development and income generation. This role is ideal for someone who understands how values-led enterprise can fuel social change.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:

As a Volunteer Education Mentor, you'll join a dynamic team to deliver 8 mentoring sessions over 8 weeks aimed at building group rapport and covering essential topics like communication, goal setting and problem solving. These sessions will be with a consistent group of young people, ensuring you can build meaningful connections and see their progress over time. 

You'll be supported throughout this process by a King's Trust Youth Development Lead, who will provide guidance and resources to help you succeed.

The sessions will typically last 1 hour and will take place face-to-face in a secondary school environment. The frequency and timing of these sessions will be determined by the school, and you will choose a school that fits your availability, as your consistent attendance is crucial.

What will you be doing?

You will join us at an exciting time as we pursue growth of fostering and residential services, as well as growth of our early help offer. 

You will work across the Charity and the subsidiary fostering company (which we will amalgamate back into the parent Charity). 

You will have a particular focus on helping the fostering agency drive growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver excellent care for children and support for foster parents. You will provide support and challenge to the management team.

You’ll contribute 2 to 6 hours a month. The Charity board meets every 8 weeks (shifting to quarterly after September) and the fostering board meets every 8 weeks.

Good Vibrations is a national arts organisation that changes lives through music. We work with some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach people in the UK, including in prisons, secure hospitals, and in the community. We are best known for using the Indonesian gamelan, a magnificent set of bronze gongs, xylophones and drums. This is a voluntary governance role for which your travel expenses would be covered. Trustees are asked to commit to attending 4 meetings (in the evenings) and 1 strategic development day a year. They are also asked for help by sharing their skills on developmental projects. We are particularly interested in people who have experienced the issues participants of our courses have experienced.
