COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORKER (WEST MIDLANDS) Benchmarked Salary: £18,600 - £19,200 FTE £31-2k Hours/FTE: 0.6 FTE
Department: Safeguarding on Transport UK Team
Location: Birmingham (West Midlands) area with travel to support other project areas when required
Responsible to: Programme Manager: Safeguarding Partnerships Community engagement work –
Work as part of a dynamic team delivering the Safeguarding on Transport (ST) project, in partnership with British Transport Police (BTP). You will be responsible for developing our community engagement work in the West Midlands, as well as supporting the wider UK work. This work consists of developing the Safeguarding Action Groups (SAG) and also encouraging members of the local rail industry to engage with our training and become part of the safety net for vulnerable young people on the rail network. The role will require working closely with British Transport Police, station staff and employees as well as local services in the area.

Job Description
Main Purpose
The key objectives of the role are to:
· Develop and Co-ordinate the Community Health Ambassadors Network to address local health and wellbeing priorities and reduce health inequalities.
· Build relationships with historically under-represented communities.
· Research, adapt and share health and wellbeing messaging to effectively reach target communities and to help eliminate barriers for access to local services.
· Present feedback from Ambassadors to statutory partners and support Ambassadors to develop and deliver projects
· Provide support and advice to Community Health Ambassadors in their ongoing activities.
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Develop and co-ordinate the Community Health Ambassadors Network

Recruit new Community Health Ambassadors in Southwark, targeting communities where gaps are identified e.g. young people, older people, specific ethnic backgrounds.

Seek out, organise and facilitate training and engagement activities for Ambassadors to equip them with local knowledge and relevant skills.

Carry out the administration and monitoring of the Health Ambassadors programme, paying expenses, tracking attendance at ad-hoc paid activities, and maintaining regular contact

Build relationships with historically under-represented communities

Engage with Ambassadors to gather local health intelligence through regular surveys polls, and WhatsApp interactions.

Develop responses to community research, suggesting Ambassador involvement where appropriate.

Provide a link between Healthwatch and the Community Health Ambassadors Programme for community engagement opportunities.

Engage with local community and voluntary sector (VCS) organisations.
Research and presentation

Work with Council and Healthwatch colleagues to disseminate information and support communities with emerging challenges (e.g., food, finance, GP registration).

Research, adapt and share health and wellbeing messaging to effectively reach target communities and to help eliminate barriers for access to local services, including through multilingual resources.

Collate and share feedback with the Council, NHS and other relevant partners to develop solutions.

Compile intelligence from the Ambassadors Network into reports to inform stakeholders and future programs.

Attend ICS and Public Health meetings and collaborate with Healthwatch in South East London.

Summary of the role:
The Community Fundraising Volunteer Officer is responsible for generating income from our community sources (Mosques, Islamic institutes and organisations) in accordance with agreed targets. This role involves planning and executing events with these organisations to deliver on our campaigns. A key part of this role will be to deploy volunteers in support of our events and to maintain their interest in continuing to volunteer with Muslim Aid. The post holder will be expected to travel nationally, sometimes at short notice. There will also be a need to work evenings and weekends during peak periods due to the nature of the post.

- Maximise income generation from a diverse range of activities to achieve agreed income targets.
- Develop relationships with individuals, communities, education institutions and mosques to enable fundraising in support of our strategy.

About this role
This is an exciting role that will lead the successful growth and delivery of the Smart Works events and community fundraising programme. About the Role
As a Community Engagement Officer, you will work with individuals and groups as an ambassador for the cause securing support for SIA through excellent relationship management.

Coordinate and support the Scottish Peer Educator project aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of deceased and living organ and tissue donation amongst South Asian communities across Glasgow, Edinburgh and surrounding areas. The peer educator co-ordinator will manage a group of South Asian volunteers to attend events and deliver messaging on kidney health, disease and organ and tissue donation in partnership with the policy lead (Scotland).
The Scottish Organ and Tissue Donation Peer Educator project is a long-standing partnership with the Scottish Government. The project aims to increase awareness of deceased organ and tissue donation, and living kidney donation, among people within the South Asian communities in and around Glasgow and Edinburgh, covering the Hindu, Muslim and Sikh faiths. The project involves working with peer educators (volunteers) from South Asian communities who attend events and talk to the communities about organ and tissue donation.
The successful candidate will have an awareness of organ donation and experience in effective community outreach and engagement with South Asian communities. You will be an excellent empathetic communicator, both written and verbal as well as being receptive and approachable with a “person-centred” approach.
You will have knowledge and awareness of the geography of the South Asian communities in Glasgow and Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. In addition, you will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car.

The Role
CoppaFeel! is looking for a Volunteer Community Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our volunteer programmes, ensuring they are effective and impactful for both volunteers and the young people we exist to serve. This role will be integral to implementing CoppaFeel!’s volunteering strategy and helping the organisation deliver on its strategic objectives.
The Volunteer Community Manager will work closely with the Senior Programmes Manager, Volunteer Engagement Executive, and Volunteer Administration Executive to drive volunteer recruitment, retention, and development. Together, they will ensure that volunteer initiatives are well-managed, engaging, and aligned with organisational priorities and values.
The role will also be responsible for embedding monitoring and evaluation frameworks to ensure that volunteer programmes and activities are insight-driven and demonstrate measurable impact.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. You will also be required to attend the office for quarterly team meetings, department meetings, and in-person training. We will provide plenty of notice for when you are required to be in for these purposes.

Roles and Responsibilities
Line management
- Provide line management to the Volunteer Engagement Executive and Volunteer Administration Executive, ensuring the effective coordination and administration of volunteer programmes.
- Oversee the development of support, guidance, and resources for volunteers to ensure high-quality programme delivery.

Volunteer Strategy and Programme Delivery

The Worker Support Centre (WSC) is a Scotland based charity that promotes decent work and prevents exploitation. We support marginalised and isolated workers in labour sectors where there is a high risk of abuse and exploitation. We work in partnership with workers to build power to secure and advance workplace rights. We prevent human trafficking for forced labour by acting to reduce the risks of worker exploitation. WSC support includes advice, mediation, advocacy and assisted reporting to enforcement agencies. Our worker engagement informs policy change activity to address harms faced by those in high-risk work. In 2023 and 2024 WSC activities were targeted at workers in seasonal agriculture on the UK Seasonal Worker visa (SWV). During this time, we provided advice, support, and information to 1031 people in relation to the SWV. WSC is now embarking on a new project to engage workers in health and social care to advance care workers’ rights through worker education and power sessions.
About the role
This role is focussed on advancing care workers’ rights by supporting WSC’s peer engagement work including actively conducting outreach to workers and facilitating worker education and power sessions. In this role you will support WSC meet two of its four core objectives to work together with workers to claim spaces for power and representation in decision making; and to build the field of knowledge about workers and their experiences to influence policy. This role also includes handling a small caseload, providing health and social care workers with information, support and impartial advice with any issues that may arise during outreach or sessions. This role will work closely together with our Peer Engagement team and Outreach Caseworker.
WSC strives to achieve representation of individuals with lived experience of the issues on which we work at all levels of our organisation and actively promotes applications from individuals with experience of the issues on which we work. Person Specification
1) KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Understanding of how NGOs operate and knowledge of the issues on which WSC works: labour rights, migrant rights, organising, anti-trafficking and human rights.

Job Purpose:
Welcome refugees and asylum seekers arriving in Derby, connecting them to the community and supporting their integration through activities, individual assessments, and tailored support plans.
Context of the role.
Upbeat Communities delivers several services to welcome refugees and support them to rebuild their lives. We are looking to recruit an Integration Worker who will offer support to Refugees and Asylum Seekers within our Thriving Places project. Your time will be spent at the Integration Hub in central Derby.
Thriving Places is a 3-year project, funded by the National Lottery, which will provide support to asylum seekers and refugees as they integrate into life in the UK. The project supports people on an individual basis, with the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), the provision of integration activities and opportunities for training, skills development and volunteering. The Refugee Integration Worker will work as part of a team and work directly with refugees and those seeking asylum to carry out needs assessments, develop ISPs and support people on their integration journeys.
