We're an established charity based in Swindon, providing specialist care to people in Swindon, Marlborough and northeast Wiltshire. Our retail operation is at the heart of our mission, raising over £2.5 million annually to support individuals and families through life-limiting illness.
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday with flexibility as needed)
About the Role:
As our retail area manager, you’ll lead our charity retail operations, overseeing a network of 18 charity shops and a thriving ecommerce operation. Your mission: to drive profitability, inspire high-performing teams, and expand our retail footprint — all while championing our brand in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support shop managers and teams to exceed sales targets and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

- Collaborate with the Head of Commercial Income to identify and launch new shop locations.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Shelter Scotland is a one of six Directorates of Shelter. Led by the Director of Shelter Scotland, the Directorate comprises two departments: Community & Services and Communications & Advocacy. Both of these departments are led by an Assistant Director (AD).
The services and community work we deliver responds to individuals and households directly affected by the housing emergency. We deliver these activities in pursuit of the changes we seek to practice, culture and policy.

About the role
Working in close collaboration with the Senior Mass Fundraising Lead, the role will manage and deliver a variety of community-led fundraising initiatives and dynamic challenge events that engage supporters and generate vital unrestricted funds for children affected by neuroblastoma.
The role focuses on building strong relationships with fundraisers, volunteers and ambassadors, providing guidance, support and motivation to help them surpass their fundraising goals. The Community and Challenge Events Fundraising Manager will both steward existing and reactive contacts, as well as be confident in securing new networks, including representing the charity in presentations and other public speaking opportunities.
This role comes at an exciting time of growth in the fundraising team, with new colleagues joining the charity and a team focused on growth of income over the coming years. This role is crucial in this plan and will take the existing community and events programme to new heights.

This new Fundraising Lead role is central to our strategy - designed to secure sustainable income through community engagement, partnerships, and bold, values-aligned funding. Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & income generation
· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.
· Corporate & individual giving: Work alongside Service Delivery Manager and Deputy Service Manager to develop relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors, creating engagement opportunities.
· Donor stewardship: Manage and nurture relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting and impact updates.
· Donor stewardship: Provide timely and effective follow-up communications with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.

Person Specification
Essential skills & experience
· Fundraising knowledge: Understanding of trust, foundation, and corporate fundraising, with proven experience of writing successful grant applications.
· Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
· Relationship management: Ability to build relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders at various levels.
