We are appointing a senior relationship fundraiser to drive income growth through high net worth individuals, senior business leaders, corporates and foundations. This is a frontline role with direct responsibility for developing and securing five and six figure multi-year funding commitments.

Working closely with the Chief Executive and Trustees, the Head of Fundraising will build and convert a strong major donor pipeline, unlock new networks and position WeSeeHope as a credible investment partner.

This is a growth mandate with clear accountability for results. This role will further professionalise and scale our major donor and corporate fundraising approach.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Income Leadership

• Develop and execute a clear income growth strategy with defined targets, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
• Build and personally manage a portfolio of high value prospects and partners.
• Lead high level cultivation and solicitation activity in partnership with the Chief Executive and Trustees.

Major Donor and Corporate Relationships

• Act as primary relationship lead for a defined portfolio of high net worth individuals and senior business leaders.

• Structure strategic partnerships that align donor objectives with organisational priorities.
• Confidently lead funding conversations, including direct financial asks.

Events and Networks

• Provide strategic oversight of key income generating events, ensuring they are leveraged effectively to cultivate and secure high value support.
• Work with Trustees/Board and senior volunteers in the UK and USA to unlock access to new networks and opportunities.
• Support Trustees to act as effective ambassadors and introducers.

Team and Organisational Leadership

• Lead and develop a focused, high performing fundraising team with clear objectives and accountability.
• Contribute actively to the senior management team, ensuring fundraising is embedded within wider organisational strategy and decision making.

Experience

• Proven track record of securing significant partnerships or funding commitments, typically in the five or six figure range, with senior decision makers.

Success in the first 12 months

By the end of year one, the Head of Fundraising will have:

• Built and qualified a clearly segmented major donor pipeline of 25 to 40 high capacity prospects, with defined engagement plans and projected value.
• Secured multiple new five figure commitments and, where strong prospects exist, at least one new six figure commitment.
• Delivered measurable growth in major donor and corporate income against agreed annual targets.
• Established and implemented a structured major donor strategy with clear segmentation and stewardship plans.
• Activated Trustees in income generation, resulting in new qualified introductions and live cultivation opportunities.
• Implemented robust forecasting and performance reporting systems providing reliable income visibility to the Board.

Salary and Package

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Role purpose

The Senior Challenge Fundraising Officer will lead the delivery and growth of APF’s third-party and mass participation challenge events portfolio.

This role exists to significantly grow income and participation by managing end-to-end third-party challenge events, developing community-facing charity-owned fundraising products and delivering excellent supporter stewardship

Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and colleagues across Communications, Services and the Operations Team, you will increase recruitment, empower supporters to raise ambitious funds, and create journeys that encourage long-term engagement with APF.

Key Responsibilities

1. Grow participation in third party

• Manage the full lifecycle of third-party and mass participation challenge events, from planning and recruitment through to stewardship and re engagement.
• Develop and execute creative marketing strategies to boost participation and attract new event participants.
• Draft engaging promotional content that inspires and engages our supporters in collaboration with the Communications team.
• Promote third-party events proactively across relevant channels and networks.

5. Data, insight and compliance

• Support on the management of CRM data to enable accurate segmentation, performance tracking and reporting.
• Monitor recruitment, participation, income and ROI to help inform future planning and improvements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge with GDPR regulations and compliance and ensure personal data is handled responsibly and securely.
• Work closely with the Governance and Operations Manager to ensure our fundraising activities are fully compliant with GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.

The Role:

The Donor Engagement & Communications Lead will creatively bring together the right people, information, and messaging to demonstrate the impact of philanthropy and partnerships at the Festival, and deploy appropriate strategies to maximise donor satisfaction and retention.

Able to write and develop content for a range of donor constituents on a variety of artistic forms, they will ensure fundraising is integrated into communication channels at all levels, and that frontline fundraisers on the team are equipped with the materials and content they need to grow and maintain fruitful donor relationships.

They will work closely with fundraisers and colleagues across the Development team to lead and manage the donor recognition and stewardship programme, as well as develop reports, updates and activities that connect supporters directly to the impact that they enable.

The Donor Engagement & Communications Lead will also foster productive internal relationships, particularly with colleagues in the Audiences department, to develop content and materials which articulate the Festival’s fundraising priorities and outcomes.

About the Role

A key leader within the ambitious and forward-thinking Fundraising & Communications Team at The Connection at St Martin’s, the Head of Supporter Involvement plays a central role in inspiring, growing and stewarding our community of supporters.

This role is all about connection - building meaningful, lasting relationships with individuals and bringing them closer to our vision of ending homelessness. Through creative, insight-led campaigns and engaging supporter journeys, you will help people understand the impact of their support and feel part of a movement for change.

You will lead on two of our flagship acquisition campaigns - our Threads of Remembrance installation, and our mixed media campaign Dying For - shaping compelling narratives and experiences that resonate deeply with supporters and drive engagement and income. Alongside this, you will provide strategic and line management leadership to our Events and Community Fundraising function, ensuring high-quality, inspiring opportunities for supporters to get involved, give, and advocate.

Working closely with colleagues across Fundraising and Communications, you will develop and deliver innovative Individual Giving and community engagement campaigns across digital and offline channels, with a strong focus on stewardship - ensuring every supporter feels valued, informed, and motivated to continue their journey with us. You will also lead on our work with the Friends of The Connection, our sister charity and membership community, to strengthen supporter engagement and loyalty.

We are looking for someone with a strong track record in Individual Giving, ideally with digital expertise, and a passion for creating outstanding supporter experiences. You will bring a solutions-focused mindset, an ability to translate sector best practice into action, and the confidence to test new ideas and approaches.

This role supports the Philanthropy Manager, Special Events and Committees, and the Senior Event Manager by delivering end‑to‑end event support for our portfolio of special events, including Recital 4 Research, an opera recital and reception; The Royal Marsden Cup, our annual golf day; and the Ever After Garden, our annual remembrance garden. Your role will include coordinating speakers, liaising with suppliers, managing volunteers, supporting in donor meetings, and writing donor communications. You will play an important part in delivering income growth from high value fundraising committees, special events and tribute funds.

This role also leads on prize donor stewardship, identifying opportunities for the Charity to be a beneficiary of an event, and events administration. Your support will ensure that as a team we deliver outstanding donor experiences and event outcomes.

Oceana UK is focused on some of the biggest threats facing UK seas, including protecting seabed habitats, ending overfishing, and preventing new offshore oil and gas developments. We fight for UK seas to get the protections they deserve through highly visible campaigns and detailed policy interventions to secure measurable changes to rebuild and maintain ocean abundance and health. We act as a vital public-policy interface – raising the profile of our issues through campaigns, science, communications, and expeditions, and directly influencing policymakers and politicians.

We are now at a pivotal moment of growth, impact, and development. We have delivered meaningful progress in our first full three years of operations, helping secure major victories to protect and restore UK seas, including protecting huge areas of our seas from industrial fishing and stopping new offshore oil and gas expansion. Job Purpose 

The Development Manager will manage our fundraising and partnerships portfolio, supporting the stewardship of relationships with some of the world’s biggest environmental foundations and philanthropists. They will manage new and existing relationships, prepare grant applications and reporting, and evolve our outreach to support the growth and diversification of our fundraising opportunities. The role will work closely with the Executive Director, our UK team, and our US based global development department, to secure sustainable resources to strengthen Oceana UK and help drive positive impact for our seas.

Eligible candidates should have a passion for fundraising and a track record in securing major grants and donations, with a focus on trusts, foundations, and philanthropy. They will foster strong relationships with high-level partners, co-deliver excellent funding applications and reports, and provide written and verbal updates with precision and confidence. They will demonstrate a strategic mindset, alongside strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail. They must have experience in growing and diversifying income streams and converting new interest into long-term, sustainable, support.

The position will be hybrid, based three days per week (Tues-Thurs) from Oceana’s UK offices in Newquay, Cornwall or Paddington, London. Regular national, and occasional international, travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations, including Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships and reporting to existing funders alongside the international development team and Executive Director. This will primarily be with trusts and foundations, individual philanthropists, and some corporate supporters.
• Manage successful grant applications and budgets, co-ordinating and collaborating with the international development team.
• Work closely with the finance, policy, communications, and campaigns team to ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted in grant applications and reporting.
• Manage and deliver timely reporting, communications, and updates to funding partners and stakeholders.
• Manage and develop other existing UK income streams, including mass giving alongside the communications team.
• Identify, develop and manage additional UK income opportunities, including with smaller trusts and foundations.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance and People, and international development and budgeting teams, to manage income forecasts and grant financial reporting.
• Maintain appropriate development records and database for all UK activity.
• Ensure compliance with UK fundraising regulations and best practice.
• Develop and manage key fundraising and partnerships events.
• Work with Executive Director to develop our outreach with funders at international events.
• Attend and represent the UK in monthly development meetings with the international team.
• Plan and manage UK development priorities, calendar, and budget.
• Be present in person in the London or Cornwall office 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs), promoting a positive working culture.
• Ensure a strong commitment to the organisation’s values and vision, as set out by Oceana globally.
• Travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally, to meet with team members and wider internal and external stakeholders.
• Other tasks as needed to support development and organisational objectives.

Candidate Requirements

Education and work experience:

• At least 5 years of professional experience in fundraising and development, ideally in the ocean or the environmental space (essential).
• Experience writing successful multi-year grant applications, alongside robust budgets, for trusts and foundations (essential).
• Experience managing charitable foundation relationships, delivering detailed and timely reports, and managing ongoing communications as required (essential).
• Experience managing major and corporate giving.
• Experience prospe cting, managing and analysing research on fundraising opportunities.
• Experience co-developing and diversifying fundraising opportunities.
• Good existing relationships with environmental trusts and foundations (preferred).

Skills & Knowledge:

• Excellent external relationship building, including confident networking skills, and organised and positive relationships with funders outside of scheduled reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to understand and distill complex scientific issues and detailed campaigns for fundraising purposes.
• Strong focus on spotting and cultivating new institutional fundraising opportunities
• Strong internal stakeholder management, adept at involving relevant teams (leadership, campaigns, finance, international) to develop funding applications.
• Confident and proficient using CRM platforms or other grant management tools.
• Good understanding of data privacy, code of fundraising practice, and other relevant regulations.
• Strong prioritisation and project management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and workstreams effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong drive to meet and exceed fundraising targets.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
