What You’ll Be Leading

You’ll take charge of a portfolio packed with exciting community and third‑party events, from 5K (and maybe 10K!) runs to large‑scale challenge experiences. Working closely with the Senior Community Fundraising Manager, you’ll help shape our events calendar, influence key decisions, and constantly push performance to the next level.

Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE) is a national charity that has been helping those in need for over 100 years, providing support to the Armed Forces community, those with disabilities and those who have found themselves unemployed.

As the Community Fundraiser covering East Anglia you will play a crucial role in helping the charity meet its strategic plans and objectives, which include campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.  Your role will be to generate and grow our income through community fundraising activities, contributing to a regional team target of more than £1.5 million.​

We’re looking for a passionate, driven individual to become a part of Shelter’s fundraising team and play a vital role in our mission to combat homelessness. Join us as a Regional Community Fundraiser covering the South London region, where you will work to engage local communities and raise crucial funds to support our fight for home.

About the role

Our London region is one of our busiest, with large numbers of warm supporters hosting fundraising activities across the year. As a Regional Community Fundraiser, you will engage with a diverse range of audiences, including individuals, local businesses, schools, volunteers, and community groups, to build meaningful relationships and raise vital funds to support Shelter’s mission. A key relationship in this role will be the one you build with the Regional Community Fundraiser – North London, working closely together to deliver a robust stewardship plan for opportunities that lie across both regions.

Your responsibilities will include managing fundraising events, overseeing budgets, and identifying new opportunities to grow our supporter base. You’ll be at the heart of our efforts to inspire long-term engagement with Shelter’s work and make a lasting impact. You will also work in collaboration with colleagues from across Shelter, including local teams, shops, and services, to ensure that community fundraising goals are aligned with Shelter’s broader objectives.

About you

We are looking for someone with experience of community fundraising and engagement who possesses the skills to build good, meaningful relationships and have strong communication skills to be able to motivate and inspire existing and new supporters. You will need to be able to take a proactive approach to managing budgets and events in your role and above all, you will also have a passion for social justice and share Shelter’s belief that everyone has the right to a safe home.

About the team

This exciting opportunity sits within Shelter’s Community and Events team which is a part of the Income Generation directorate. Community and Events is made up of our Community Fundraising, Supporter Experience, Digital Fundraising & Marketing and Mass Participation teams, across the team we look after a wide range of fundraising activities encouraging supporters to raise money and providing them with the support to do so.

In this role, you will report into the Senior Community Fundraising Area Manager who will provide guidance, coaching, and support to help you thrive in your role. You’ll be working closely alongside community fundraising colleagues based in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Norwich.

Senior Community and Events Fundraising Officer

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week.

Location: London, UK. 

Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% (2 days) of working time is spent face to face, either in London office, or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. About the team:

This role is in the Community, Events and Education team who sit within the Mass Engagement department. The team manage and deliver a diverse portfolio of fundraising and engagement activity ranging from challenge events, our partnership with Glastonbury festival to a busy community fundraising programme, our volunteer Speaker Network and an education engagement programme.

The team delivers far more than income by deepening the engagement of new and existing supporters and raising awareness of WaterAid’s work. 

About the Role

The Senior Community and Events Fundraising Officer is responsible for managing fundraising partnerships with small and medium-sized enterprises, including developing new business opportunities and creating stewardship journeys for employee fundraising. The role also manages WaterAid’s corporate events such as WaterAid’s Dragon Boat Race, working with choir groups to fundraise as part of the Sing for Water event, and stewards the 4Water volunteer network. 

In addition, the role supports the delivery of WaterAid’s virtual fundraising products, including Walk for Water, Just Water and Swim Marathon. This includes delivering excellent supporter journeys and developing fundraising resources to effectively steward and engage these audiences.

To be successful, you’ll need:

We are looking for an ambitious and proactive fundraiser with experience in community, events and corporate fundraising. You will have:

• At least 4 years’ experience working within a community and events fundraising team, with responsibility for corporate or SME fundraising and employee engagement, event management and delivery of charity owned events, and fundraising product development. 
• Experience of managing budgets, analysing data, and reporting on performance.  
• Experience of working on virtual fundraising products.  
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire supporters and communicate the impact of their support.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using databases or CRM systems.
• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the region, including some evenings and weekends.
