The Role
Working alongside the existing Community Fundraiser in London, this role will engage with the Dioceses in Westminster, Brentford & East Anglia to establish and strengthen links to individual bishops and diocesan communications staff. Your role will be to further develop and deliver a range of events and initiatives that the Harlequins Foundation offers to its supporters to help us to raise the funds we need to deliver our programmes. As the charitable arm of the Club, we deliver a variety of programmes aimed at achieving improved outcomes for education and employability, wellbeing and inclusion. The role will play a key part in delivering high-profile fundraising events while building the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and supporter types, being instrumental in delivering campaigns and events to engage new audiences with the Foundation’s purpose.

Key Responsibilites

Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Exceptional events management and project management experience; managing a range of events and budgets in size, profile and scale
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills including budget and project management
- Experience of delivering fundraising events and activations that can engage supporters
- Ability to build excellent relationships especially with supporters, partners, ambassadors and suppliers

Key responsibilities
These include but are not limited to:
- Develop and manage our legacy fundraising, setting and achieving agreed targets to help us to grow our long-term legacy income.

Your role also involves representing Royal British Legion locally, engaging in outreach activities, and providing updates to key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess commercial knowledge, financial management skills, and experience in supporter relationship management. It’s an exciting time to join War Child as they have just launched their new Alliance initiative. The War Child Alliance brings together the five War Child fundraising members (in the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Sweden, plus Children in Conflict in the US), with 14 programme members, based in and around conflict-affected areas across the world and coordinated by a new international body: the War Child Alliance Foundation. Through the Alliance they are integrating programme activities under one umbrella – allowing War Child to combine strengths and pool resources – all with the aim to multiply impact for conflict-affected children.
As part of the Trusts and Institutional funding team of four you’ll work alongside the Head of Trusts and Institutional, Trusts Manager and Trusts Executive, and be line managed by the new Trusts and Institutional Funding Lead.
Your key objective is to provide operational, administrative and analytical support to the team to grow income and enable War Child to deliver quality programmes. You’ll ensure compliance with quality and donor requirements, contribute to effective risk management, provide support for the different donor accounts and ensure processes and systems are in place, implemented and efficient.

- Develop donor profiles by conducting research on potential donors, including their funding focus, giving history, and connections to War Child.

The Head of Legacies and In Memory will work with the Associate Director of Fundraising and Marketing to build and develop the vital legacy and in memory programme. The role will include the development of innovative and engaging marketing strategies - including recruitment and stewardship across legacies and in memory. Furthermore, you will investigate new audiences and channels to increase engagement and use your excellent budgetary management to produce detailed income forecasting.
Key elements of the role include:
- creating and implementing multi-channel campaigns to recruit new legacy supporters from warm audiences and increase the number of legacies notified from these sources
- developing excellent stewardship plans for legacy enquirers, intenders and pledgers and for all in memory and tribute donors
- introducing new transformational projects and exploring new avenues and audiences for legacy and in memory giving beyond our existing audiences
- creating and implementing a detailed in memory and tribute fundraising plan based on analysis of donor sources, income and activity
- providing accurate, regular activity and income updates and forecasts to our Senior Leadership Team
To be considered for this position the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate;
- Proven experience and a successful track record at a senior level in legacy fundraising, including the creation, development and implementation of strategic fundraising plans.
- A credible senior professional with good influencing skills and a can do and hands on approach.

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. - Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.
- Proactively manage a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, regularly meeting and engaging with prospective funders to pitch proposals and check-in around expectations.
- Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop accurate, compelling funding applications in line with deadlines set by funders.

What will an average day look like?

- will recruit, manage and support a small but growing team of volunteer fundraisers and local ambassadors
In order to be successful, you must have experienced:
- Ideally, community/corporate fundraising experience in another charity or part of the voluntary sector. Or with the skills outlined above and developed in sales, marketing or other work experience
- Team leadership experience and supporting individual and project performance
- Excellent Communication skills both verbally and in writing and good IT skills
