An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Manager to join the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on a six-month contract. This role will support the Head of Marketing & Brand to deliver impactful, integrated marketing and brand activations with great results. 

You will work on strategies and campaigns that serve the objectives of all areas within SSAFA, so your expertise will help raise awareness of crucial services, recruit volunteers, support fundraising initiatives and promote understanding of SSAFA’s work. Most notably you will develop the strategic approach and activation of a new brand proposition in the Autumn. This is an incredibly important piece of work for the charity, so the role will suit somebody with experience in driving a brand previously.

You will work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues across the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications directorate, taking briefs and translating them into finalised marketing activations. Alongside the Head of Marketing & Brand you will work closely with the rest of the team, particularly the Senior Marketing Officer.

About the team 

You will be joining a well-established team of marcomms professionals, ranging from designers to case study managers and social media experts. You will have plenty of opportunity to interact with other internal departments, such as Fundraising or members of the volunteer network. 

 About you 

To hit the ground running and carry out this role successfully you will have:

• Demonstrable experience managing marketing or brand strategies and campaigns that achieve engagement or brand visibility metrics.
• Experience of managing projects with several internal stakeholders working with either agency or in-house delivery teams.
• The ability to interrogate and understand a brief in order to develop multi-channel campaign plans and co-ordinate the creation of compelling content and collateral that resonates with audiences.
• Experience of co-ordinating post-campaign analysis reports in order to communicate achievements and performance to relevant internal stakeholders.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines as needed. 
• Experience of working in a commercial, public or not-for-profit organisation would be beneficial.

Based in the Business Development Directorate, this role will enable Start Network to collaborate with Hub representatives to set up successful resource mobilisation functions in each Hub country and mobilise new funds directly for them. This is a critical role for our strategy and will require someone with experience in setting up ‘income streams’ from scratch (including setting resource mobilisation strategies and fund-raising protocols). This role requires someone with ample experience in coordinating teams across countries and securing new income from donors. Most Hubs are new entities (small humanitarian networks), therefore the support required will also include capacity-building, donor-mapping, direct engagement on behalf of the Hubs with the donors, and other activities, as defined and directed by the Director. Provision of support to the Hubs will largely be done through remote coordination, facilitation, and engagement. The business
development directorate is mainly based in London but there will be flexibility with regards to where this role sits. This is a new role and will require adaptability, a positive attitude, and a proactive character. It is also important to note that this role might be travelling 6 weeks per year (10 days at a time) to various hub countries.

• Educated to degree-level/equivalent educational standard, or significant equivalent work experience

​Main purpose of the post 

We are seeking to appoint a Bids Manager with experience in managing the development and submissions process for successful research bids, to be part of a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will lead the process for preparing high-value bids, including drafting sections of the narrative and reviewing budgets, and be responsible for building central resources to improve and facilitate effective business development operations. This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders and skilfully managing competing priorities, personalities, and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude, who will enjoy learning about RUSI’s research areas and building stronger systems and processes to help us to make Business Development more efficient and successful.

​Key tasks 

• For UK Government, US Government, EU and Canadian Government bids, and bids over £100,000 value to RUSI:

• End-to-end project management of high-quality bids, including tender responses, funding applications and requests to participate. 

• Manage internal and external communications to ensure that the RUSI team, and partners, are aware of evaluation criteria, key themes, deadlines, and other critical information. Agree roles, responsibilities and timelines between key stakeholders.

• Compile and arrange high-quality and compelling bid language working with subject matter experts, draft responses to institutional questions, and offer quality assurance ahead of submission. 

• Review project budgets to be signed off by RUSI’s COO, ensuring that they are prepared consistently and in line with RUSI policies and funder requirements, working with RUSI research teams to achieve this. 

• Serve as the institutional point of contact for the key funders listed above – attend Early Market Engagements/supplier events, funder events, webinars, to ensure you are up to date on their priorities and RUSI is competitive with our bids. Maintain a centralised database and disseminate up-to-date information on each funder’s practices, key dates, preferences, upcoming opportunities etc. 

• For all other bids, review budgets for accuracy, competitiveness and to ensure costs are in line with RUSI’s policies and previous submissions, and, once finalised, seek approval from the COO.

• Work with the Director for Research Business Development, Research Directors and the Deputy Director General to identify and cultivate new relationships within each of the key funders, ensuring that we have good awareness of upcoming plans, expectations and priorities.

• Facilitate links to partner organisations (primes) and build and manage consortia-based relationships to ensure we have oversight of upcoming opportunities and are able to negotiate successful partnerships.

• Ensure use of best practice across research groups in our approach to bids and budgets, and that key documents, outcomes, research impact, and decisions are saved centrally for future use.

• With support from the BD team, develop and execute a plan to inform, train and mentor research and central services colleagues on best practice for bids, including a focus on wider business awareness.

• Respond to due diligence requests received by RUSI from research funders, ensure we have a central database of up-to-date policies and documents required to respond successfully and quickly. 

• Work with the Business Development team to build organisational systems and processes for effective BD, collaborate with BD colleagues to share feedback and ideas, support each other, and develop central projects to improve BD across the organisation. 

• Attend Business Development meetings with research groups and build strong relationships with project managers and project officers, capturing feedback and seeking input to BD processes and practices. 

• Manage the process for new funder approvals with the Deputy Director General. 

• Be a member of RUSI’s Research Committee and report on bid statuses and other relevant information when needed.

​Essential Skills and Experience:  

• An extensive track record of submitting high-quality research project proposals to the funders listed above, with a demonstrable success rate. 

• Able to produce clear, accurate and insightful written output, setting high standards and enhancing our external reputation through the production of strong bids. 

• Skilled at dealing with high-pressured situations with sensitivity and in a calm manner. 

• A track record of producing and reviewing small, medium, and large project budgets, often with specific funder requirements, and an understanding of how to develop competitive financial bids.

• Strong knowledge and awareness of common requirements for bid submissions, including statements on duty of care, quality assurance, supply chain management, gender, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

• Outstanding time management skills and a willingness to work flexibly, juggling shifting priorities and competing deadlines, while managing people’s expectations effectively with the support of the Director of Research Business Development.

• A good understanding of contractual matters and experience in resolving them. 

• Experience in training colleagues on best practice and developing associated materials. 

• Strong IT and Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) 

• Project management certification such as Prince 2.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Service Manager to support women and children who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. In this role you will provide line management and support to staff who work with and help women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse and are staying in our Lambeth refuges. Our Lambeth refuges are culturally specific services for women and children of African and Caribbean heritage. This will include providing supervision on complex casework issues such as child protection, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.

Please note that this post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. This role will also require an enhanced DBS check. 

About us: Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Since 2003, Tender’s work has grown and diversified from a single workshop programme delivered to schools, into a broader range of programmes reaching both children and young people and professionals with a safeguarding responsibility such as teachers, youth workers, social care workers and foster carers. Tender’s programmes include Healthy Relationships projects delivered across England, projects delivered using online resources and technology, specialist projects for vulnerable children and young people, whole school and whole setting approaches, and training for professionals with safeguarding responsibility and in workplaces.

About the role: We now have a need for a coordinator to work closely with the whole development team (comprising a Development Director, Development Manager, Development Officer, Major Donor Consultant and the CEO) in coordinating all aspects of our fundraising work, from identifying prospects, creating compelling funding applications through to successfully managing relationships with funders. This role will give you experience of all of our funding streams, as well as exposure to our funders through your work in organising and managing our various events throughout the year, such as our annual awards.

What you will be doing:

• Supporting all members of the Development team to achieve the team’s annual fundraising targets
• Preparing and submitting applications in support of fundraising from trusts & foundations, statutory funders, corporates, major donors, and individual givers
• Supporting all members of the Development team to develop relationships with Tender’s funders and successfully steward relationships to achieve further funding
• Supporting the Development team in coordinating and delivering events in support of Tender’s fundraising activities

This is a new role created to assist the small but growing team at SKT with our primary goal of engaging and mobilising residents in the neighbourhood we serve, numbering around 7500 people. SKT will assume management of community and event spaces at the heart of the neighbourhood this year and we are preparing service providers to make room for community voice in shaping local services. Involving residents in shaping their future is central to our purpose, whether by ensuring local assets and amenities work for them, or by influencing service delivery. This makes the Community Engagement Coordinator role an exciting and important addition to the team.

Main Tasks: 

Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Coordination  

• Recruit and maintain a team of twenty active volunteers from the local community to assist in community building initiatives.

• Develop and deliver a volunteer programme to engage the South Kilburn community which will likely include, but not limited to: 

• Community research and consultation 

• Public space improvements (greening, activation etc)

• Promoting community cohesion through events 

• Train volunteers in peer-engagement and consultation practice, 

• Induct and supervise skilled volunteers, as necessary. 

Community Cohesion and Wellbeing 

• Encourage and inspire volunteers to work as a team, take ownership of each activity, and to celebrate collective successes,

• Involve volunteers in planning and delivering community projects and events. 

Resident Voice 

•  Collaborate with the Community Engagement, Partnership and Marketing Manager to develop and deliver a consultation plan to better understand residents’ needs and priorities,

• Conduct outreach in the community with trained volunteers, including door-to-door canvassing, satisfaction surveys, pop-up stalls etc.

• Collect and systematically analyse information gathered through outreach and community consultation.

Widening Participation 

• Increase rates of community participation, belonging and pride across all segments of the community in South Kilburn. 

• Use creative methods to increase engagement with decision making from all sections of our diverse community.

• Contribute to a new system of representative community governance, enabling the resident body to speak with one voice,

• With partners, support the coordination of community events in South Kilburn.

Empowerment and Progression 

• Maintain continued awareness of local opportunities and train volunteers to disseminate accurate information and signposting, 

• Seek opportunities for volunteer progression including supporting those looking to do so in to work and work-placements with local businesses.

Partnerships and information sharing 

• Maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including partner charities, volunteers, Brent Council officers and community members, 

• Work with the Communications and Engagement officer to disseminate useful information to residents. 

 Other 

• Be an ambassador for SKT and ensure our values of joy, collaboration and inclusion are upheld by the volunteer team. 

• Be responsible for organising team building days and social events for SKT staff, volunteers, and Trustees.

As the Account Manager you will contribute to and effectively support our global programme partnerships work, to achieve Save the Children's strategic objectives.

The focus of the role will include extending Save the Children's relationships with development banks plus new initiatives such as impact investment and results-based project funding. You will support the Partnership Managers on a varied portfolio of cross-Save the Children partnerships as well as supporting with the management of cross Save the Children partnership management.

Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors (London) - £29,000  per annum plus London Weighting (pro-rata)

The role will help to establish a pipeline in line with 1MM’s aspirations for 2024 and beyond.  This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

1MM Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors main tasks include:

• Helping 1MM to scale by helping establish over 150 new, high quality mentoring matches each quarter. (A match means that the mentor and the mentee have completed 1MM’s training and have had their first meeting)

• Meeting all quality assurance KPIs.

• Maximising conversion, retention, and mitigate drop-off

• Providing ongoing support for key stakeholder partners, including Employers, and maintaining strong relationships.

• Securing at least one new partner per quarter.

• Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to users.

• Providing regular reports on progress related to the role.

• Potential for line-management responsibilities as the team grows.
