We’re seeking a dedicated and proactive Grants Officer to join our team to help grow our support for some of the world’s most marginalised children. 

About the role

This is a new role in the Children on the Edge team, working with the Grants Manager to maximise funding from foundations and grant makers, and helping to grow our grants income (currently around £1.2m). You will be managing and growing a portfolio of funders, and identifying and nurturing new relationships with potential funders. 

You will deliver effective prospecting, write compelling applications and create impactful reporting to new and current funders; helping to achieve the wider fundraising strategy of building and sustaining a broad base of restricted and unrestricted funding.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated fundraiser to join a small and dynamic organisation. You will be championing and fundraising for community led programmes that create protective environments full of hope, life, colour and fun. . 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have an interest and understanding of community led international development and a passion for Children on the Edge’s distinctive approach and work.

You will have excellent communication skills, and a naturally pro-active and collaborative approach. You will enjoy creating compelling applications, narrative and financial reports for funders, be results-driven and have the self motivation and drive to deliver against deadlines.

As our Assistant Shop Manager in Fleet, you'll work closely with the Shop Manager, overseeing day-to-day shop operations, including generating donations, managing displays and merchandising, coordinating stock deliveries and collections, maintaining records, and handling cash.

Additionally, you'll play a key role in recruiting, training, motivating, and managing a dedicated team of volunteers, ensuring they are aligned with our cause and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in their roles. Together with the Shop Manager, you'll shape the shop's direction at a local level, fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for both customers and volunteers alike.

Our Fleet shop operates Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.  Your shift pattern may vary week by week to accommodate business needs and the availability of staff and volunteers, including weekend work and occasional lone shifts. Flexibility is key, as there may be time when you're required to cover for the Shop Manager, necessitating additional hours.
 

About you
You'll have previous experience in a retail environment and familiarity with cash handling and reconciliation. Excellent customer service skills are a must, along with the ability to provide a positive and welcoming experience for customers.

In this role, being a great team leader is important. You'll be able to motivate and guide a team of volunteers to ensure the seamless operation of the shop.

Flexibility is essential as the working schedule may change weekly to accommodate business demands and staff availability, often involving weekend shifts. Comfort with occasional lone working and willingness to work extra hours when necessary are crucial, showcasing adaptability and a proactive approach to shop management.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will craft exciting, engaging digital and social media campaigns that deliver results for a range of audiences. The postholder will create and edit web pages using WordPress (no coding required) and deliver targeted paid-for advertising campaigns in Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads. Lingen Davies Cancer Fund exists to enhance cancer services and improve lives in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales. Delivering the philanthropy plan​

• Manage the philanthropy programme at Bookmark, working with the Head of Fundraising to grow the major donor portfolio within the wider strategy​

About the role

As Assistant Shop Manager at Scope's Torquay shop, you’ll work alongside the Shop Manager, and use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. You will be able to use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. Our retail roles are full of variety, and every day is different! One day you might be generating and processing stock and designing an eye-catching window display. The next day you might be recruiting and training our wonderful volunteers. Every day there will be a different challenge that you’ll find extremely rewarding. You may also deputise and be responsible for running the shop when the shop manager is absent. A great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important as relevant experience.

About you

You’ll be a dedicated team player with a strong work ethic and committed to providing excellent customer service. You do not need specific retail experience. But we do ask that you are business minded and have worked in a fast paced, service environment where you put the customer’s needs first. You’ll also need to showcase a great attention to detail, solid IT skills and have a creative eye for displays. You will also demonstrate an appreciation of Scope’s values and ambition of achieving Everyday Equality for disabled people.

About working in our shops

Our shops are the face of our retail brand, run by a dedicated, creative and passionate bunch of superstars. We focus on sustainable fashion and engaging with local communities. We lead our volunteers to deliver a great colleague and customer experience. And we raise much needed funds to deliver Everyday Equality for disabled people and their families.

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day, so some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. We work 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

About the role:

To be responsible for the effective operation of the shop in the absence of the shop manager, to include:-

- Coordinating day to day running of the shop
- Optimising sales
