Community Volunteers can choose from a wide selection of activities – including fundraising, talks and demonstrations, supporting at events, volunteer welfare, social media and administration support.

Our Mission

Brain tumours do not discriminate, and they do not respect boundaries. They can strike anyone, at any age. And they strike quickly. The Marketing team at The Brain Tumour Charity want to capture more high quality photos of our fundraisers and supporters. Not only do our photos capture the brain tumour community and their amazing efforts to help find cures but they also help create more awareness and engagement of our cause.

How can you help?

As a Volunteer Photographer, you will be present at big fundraising events or carrying out photoshoots with our supporters. This role requires that you are quick to capture those blink-and-you-miss-it moments! Other requirements include:

• Potentially walking a large amount of steps at some events if you are able (The Twilight Walk in London, for example)
• Being prepared for different weather conditions
• Taking portraits and group shots of fundraisers when asked by them
• Sending photos (unedited or edited) via wetransfer or another sharing platform soon after the event has ended

What impact will you have?

Your photos will capture the atmosphere and excitement of big events as well as the emotions that come with fundraisers. Capturing and displaying our community is a key concern for The Charity and your photos make an impact in reaching our goals. Your photos could also be featured on our website, social media and external news outlets with full credit given.

We’re looking for...

Individuals with technical experience in photography, whether that is buddying hobbyists or professionals looking to volunteer their time. You will also need:

• To have your own photography equipment
• An ability to direct people to get the right shot
• An ability to work autonomously

Time commitment

This is a flexible, ad-hoc role and there is no minimum amount of events you need to cover in this role. Photographer shifts at events usually last no longer than 6 hours. We have opportunities to volunteer all across the UK, but we would work with you to ensure that we only offer opportunities within a reasonable travelling distance and therefore the number of opportunities available will be dependent on your location.

Practical considerations

You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18.  We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.

Romsey charity looking for volunteer Trustees – do you have some time to spare to support this long-established and well-known local cancer support charity?

Romsey Cancer Support Centre (Jane Scarth House and Jane’s Charity Shop) is looking to appoint two Trustees. That's why the NSPCC events team put on industry leading events to raise funds and highlight the work that we do

We are looking for enthusiastic and organised people to join our community of event volunteers. We couldn't continue to hold industry leading events without our event volunteers who play an integral part in assisting on the night. The NSPCC events calendar brings together guests from a range of sectors for innovative, luxury and spectacular evenings of entertainment that help to raise vital funds for the NSPCC and Childline.

What you'll be doing:

To work together with the Community Fundraising Manager to co-ordinate new fashion show events in the local community together with like-minded people. 

We have many different roles that you can get stuck in to on the night of the event. The support needed is either event set up during the day or being on hand to greet and support guests over the duration of the evening. Typically, you will be volunteering for 5 hours, usually from 5.30pm to 10.30pm, with breaks and we will provide all food and refreshments.

Volunteers can expect to be:

• selling raffle tickets/ items during the reception
• acting as a table host and encouraging guests to bid in the silent auction and take part in fundraising games and activities.
• Taking part in our live auctions by acting as bid spotters for the auctioneer.

Across Yorkshire, Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC) is Yorkshire and Humber’s leading

brain tumour charity. Offering practical, financial and emotional support to both adult and child

brain tumour patients, together with their families.

We fund brain tumour research in Yorkshire; we hope this research, dedicated to identifying new

approaches to the discovery and treatment of brain tumours, will improve outcomes for patients.

At YBTC we are a small team who are growing to meet the needs of those affected by a brain

tumour in Yorkshire. Around 15 new cases of primary brain tumour are diagnosed in the region

Volunteering at Memory Walk is an incredible experience. You and hundreds of others across the country will help us to run 12 inspiring walks that raise vital funds, providing help and hope to people affected by dementia. Memory Walks simply couldn't happen without incredible volunteers, and we do our best to make it a day to remember. 

There are three roles to choose from when volunteering at a Memory Walk:

• Event Site - Volunteer roles include selling merchandise and handing out medals at the finish line.
• Route Marshal - Route volunteers are essential to guide walkers and keep enthusiasm high. All route marshals will be paired, so you'll never be alone on the route.
• Back Markers - Back markers have the unique advantage of walking the whole route alongside our participants, taking down route signage and releasing route marshals along the way.

You can expect:

• A fantastic day outdoors in your local community. 
• A face-to-face briefing from the Events Team before the event starts where you'll chat through your role for the day. There'll be plenty of time to ask any questions you may have.
• A chance to explore the event site and hang a tag on the Memory Walk Memory Tree in honour of your loved ones.
• Satisfaction, knowing that you're helping to raise vital funds and providing help and hope to people affected by dementia. 
• Volunteer arrival time is typically 8:45am.
• You’ll need to be able to commit to around 6 hours of volunteering at the event. Don’t worry if you can’t stick around for the whole day, just make sure to get in touch with us to let us know your availability.

At RSPCA Buckinghamshire South Branch, our Volunteer Events Assistants are vital in helping us raise the funds we need to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome or release hundreds of animals each year!

What we're looking for:

We're looking for enthusiastic, creative and organised people to be a part of the NSPCC's fundraising group in  your local area. Role description

As a key member of the Volunteer Grant Team, the Grants Manager (Unpaid Volunteer) will assist the Head of Fundraising (Unpaid Volunteer) in grant writing, planning and implementing a portfolio of impactful programmes.  The postholder is responsible for managing a diverse grant portfolio, providing high-level programme support, financial oversight, monitoring and evaluation, technical expertise, and capacity-building support to our global health and social care projects.  This role will involve working closely with the Senior Programmes and Grants Managers to ensure that AHO makes progress towards its Vision. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To develop and manage a potfolio of grants, including institutional and internal grants.  This includes assessing the competencies of Volunteer Grant Teams and creating organisational plans with grant writers.
• To support the new and ongoing development of grant writers through capacity building and providing networking opportunities.
• To support the Volunteer Grant Team in their applications to institutional funders, trusts and foundations, providing input and advice as requested.
• To ensure grant-management requirements and external funding are met successfully.
• To work closely with grant teams and individuals responsibly to source narratives of individual and community transformation to support the development of donor relationships and communication. 
• To provide good care to grant writers, maintain regular but appropriate contact and safeguard their interests
• To undertake monitoring, evaluation and conducting grants and project assessments for international and UK-based projects
• To source new, innovative projects in line with AHO's funding criteria
• To assist in raising the standards of AHO Safeguarding with grants and project portfolios.
• To update the database and to analyse data from reports and write up recommendations for senior management and/or board consideration.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a charity or foundation with a focus on health and international development
• Experience in submitting successful funding proposals to institutional donors, trusts, and foundations
• Strong track record of successful management of all reporting requirements associated with grants.
• Good project management skills, with experience delivering or grant-managing projects internationally; able to work on multiple tasks and to prioritise these to meet deadlines
• Affinity to health and understanding of African culture as a power for health development in Africa. 
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work on one's initiative
• Basic budgeting and financial management experience, able to understand the link between finance and operations
• Ability to work cross-organisationally with multiple stakeholders in the realisation of shared goals
• Confident communicator and convenor, particularly in written grants, reports, external communications, presentations and with people whose first language is not English
• Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships to achieve objectives with international partners
• Written and oral fluency in English is required
• Fluency in a second language (in addition to English) is required preferably Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Portuguese and Swahili.

What are Serving Community Teams? 

Volunteers are the lifeblood of SSAFA. SSAFA has developed Serving Community Teams for volunteers to support serving personnel and their families in the UK and overseas. 

A Serving Community Team is run by a small team of volunteers on or near a British Armed Forces base which provides emotional, practical and financial support to the serving community. Our Chair is the key part of the team, coordinating the activities of volunteers to ensure financial stability and a safe and effective volunteer service. You will network locally to build relationships with the serving community, other stakeholders and welfare organisations. You will collaborate with the other SCT volunteers to support them in their roles as well as working with employees in the Serving Community Support Team to ensure the functions of the SCT run well, are documented appropriately, and reported on annually. 

Why we want you

Serving Community Teams (SCTs) offer financial, practical and emotional support to serving personnel and their families at military bases both in the UK and overseas. Each SCT consists of a group of dedicated volunteers, working together to raise SSAFA’s profile, ensuring those who need support receive it. If you would like to lead and develop a SCT, we’d love to hear from you. Our SCT Chair is the key player, coordinating the activities of the volunteer team to deliver beneficiary support and ensure a safe, effective and financially stability SCT. You will network locally to build relationships with the serving community, other stakeholders and welfare organisations. You will support your SCT volunteers in their roles as well as working with employees in SSAFA’s Serving Community Support Team to ensure the functions of the SCT are run well, documented and reported on annually.

What you will be doing

• Leading the volunteer team, ensuring SSAFA’s values, policies and procedures are followed.
• Being an ambassador for SSAFA, building positive relationships with the chain of command, local SSAFA branches and services, welfare services and other key stakeholders.
• Working closely with your volunteers to establish an annual plan of activities to include fundraising, awareness raising and support.
• Having oversight of all the functions of the SCT, ensuring beneficiaries receive effective support, and volunteers have an opportunity to regularly meet regularly.
• Reporting on the activities the SCT undertakes and their impact, ensuring annual reports are submitted.
• Promoting the work of SSAFA and the SCT, highlighting case studies and good news stories to employees in the SSAFA PR team and Serving Community Support Team.
• Being available to consider any grant applications when received.
• Working closely with employees in the Serving Community Support Team, building on volunteer recruitment and and sharing best practice.

Requirements 

Volunteers need to be a minimum of 18 years old.

Time commitment 

This role would suit someone who would like to volunteer a few hours each week. SSAFA’s Serving Community Support Team are always available should you wish to discuss this further.

Support 

Full training is provided for this role, with some e-learning modules online. You will be supported by SSAFA’s Serving Community Team Manager and Serving Community Support Team.

Why we need you:

This role is vital to the work of FareShare Merseyside. You will be preparing and cooking meals for our volunteers and staff, cleaning down the kitchen, and adhering to allergen, HACCP, and other compliance checks.

For the role of the Volunteer Kitchen Lead/ Chef, a background in food is essential. If you have experience leading a small team, and adhering to food hygiene, you would be a great fit for this role.

What will I be doing?

• Learning how to use our internal Warehouse systems to ‘book out’ food, ensuring a good level of stock is available at all time.
• Planning, creating, and cooking meals from surplus food for volunteer and staff lunches.
• Carrying out routine kitchen cleaning, health and safety checks, and completing all relevant paperwork.
• Assisting with one-off corporate or fundraising events.
• Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

What we need you to be:

• Minimum of 18 years old
• Experience cooking for large numbers of people
• Passionate about food and saving surplus food from going to waste
• Inventive in the kitchen and able to cook for all dietary requirements
• Positive, friendly and personable, able to interact well with different people 
• Good with numbers, identifying different foods, writing clearly  
• Able to work effectively and use your initiative in a fast-paced environment 
• Able to work well in a team and on your own   
• Able to follow FareShare’s policies & procedures
