This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced youth worker to join our Brent team. You will bring energy, compassion, and resilience to make a real change to the life chances of young people in the UK asylum system.
You will be responsible for supporting young people aged 14-25 years, enabling them to access a range of social, emotional, and practical support as they navigate the complex and challenging processes of the UK asylum system.You will help us run activities for young people at our advice hub on Wednesday evenings in Brent and run our youth group on Thursday evenings in Brent n as well as our sporting activities and trips.
You will work closely with our Brent Youth Development Coordinator. You will need to be able to work under pressure, acting as a consistent and stable point of contact for young people, ensuring that their safety and well-being are paramount.
About you
We would like to hear from you if you have the following:
· Demonstrable experience in supporting vulnerable young people in a similar role, particularly through youth activities in 1;1 and/or group settings, or befriending/mentoring
· Good knowledge of the UK asylum system and the related challenges facing young refugees and asylum-seekers in contingency accommodation
· Strong ability to problem-solve, research information and solutions, and to take initiative
· Working knowledge of child protection issues and safeguarding processes
· Ability to empathise, communicate and engage effectively with young people in distress
· Ability to handle complex, sensitive and confidential information appropriately
· You are available to work on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

You will be working as part of the West Sussex night team providing mobile support to our 24-hour services, ensuring that our transitional properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night. You will be based at the Horsham Y Centre and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures. You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations.
In addition, you will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.

We are seeking experienced and highly motivated staff members for our Complex Needs Accommodation Service. The role will require you to work alongside the Regional Services Manager , to provide a high level of support to these clients at our Ashley Road and Milton House projects.
You will be in a specialist role designed to work with people with complex support needs relating to: mental ill health, physical health & substance use needs. Aside from the 50+ young people we see every day at our day centre, New Horizon’s Outreach service also works with young people on the streets and in the community. The team works pan London to deliver a unique, youth-specific outreach service to young people currently or at risk of rough sleeping. We use our extensive housing expertise to place those young people into accommodation that is appropriate and safe whilst encouraging them to access the day centre to benefit from the wide range of services we offer. The Outreach Worker will work as part of Rough Sleeping Team to deliver at least two street outreach shifts per week and transitional casework to young people facing rough sleeping. You will need to be willing to work early mornings and late evenings, to travel across London to identify young people who need our support, and to work flexibly to respond to evolving needs.
