This is a demanding but deeply rewarding role that combines service delivery, engagement, and emotional resilience. As Events & Engagement Officer, you will work closely with our Operational Support Team to design and deliver a varied programme of online and in-person events. These will support the wellbeing of our Members (adult family members of injured veterans and serving personnel), reduce isolation, and build understanding of the challenges faced by military families.

The Ripple Pond is a UK-wide charity that supports the adult family members of physically or psychologically injured Armed Forces personnel and veterans. We provide peer support, structured guidance, and signposting to improve wellbeing and reduce isolation for families who often carry complex emotional burdens in silence. Our work is rooted in lived experience and built on a foundation of inclusion, compassion, and community.

The Operational Support Team lies at the heart of our frontline service. It delivers one-to-one support, coordinates safeguarding and triage, and ensures Members are connected to the right pathways at the right time. It is a trauma-informed, emotionally intelligent team that works with care and professionalism, ensuring that no one caring for an injured veteran or serviceperson feels alone.

You will start your time with The Ripple Pond by embedding into the Operations Team for approximately two months. This will give you a firm grounding in the lived experiences of our Members and ensure you’re fully trained to act as Duty Officer. As Duty Officer, you’ll receive and respond to referrals and enquiries, complete needs assessments, carry out risk assessments, and navigate Members to appropriate internal or external support. This may involve responding to distressing and traumatic situations, including domestic abuse, suicidal ideation, addiction, and other complex issues. You will also be expected to attend (online) multi-agency meetings.

This role requires emotional resilience, sound judgment, and exceptional communication skills. You will need to work flexibly, including some evenings and occasional weekends, and travel to a limited number of face-to-face events and meetings throughout the year. Key Responsibilities

• Working with your colleagues to design and deliver an engaging and inclusive programme of digital and in-person events that support Member wellbeing, build confidence, reduce isolation, and encourage peer connection.

• Co-develop activities such as themed discussion groups, creative and recreational workshops (e.g. book clubs, craft groups, quiz nights, art workshops, journaling, fitness, etc.), and skill-building sessions.

• Plan and lead external engagement sessions for professionals and stakeholders to improve understanding of the Armed Forces family experience.

• Manage the full event cycle, from concept and scheduling to promotion, delivery, and evaluation.

• Work closely with the Operational Support Team to ensure all activities reflect Member needs and organisational aims.

• Act as Duty Officer on a rota basis, including during periods of staff leave or absence. This includes responding to new enquiries, completing needs and risk assessments, and triaging Members into appropriate pathways of support.

• Respond sensitively to Members disclosing trauma or distress and act in line with our safeguarding and escalation procedures.

• Attend virtual joint-agency meetings when required to support Members or represent the charity.

• Use digital tools to promote and deliver content (e.g. Zoom, Canva, Transpond, Eventbrite, CRM systems).

• Collect and evaluate Member feedback to help refine services and contribute to reporting and development work.

• Support cross-organisational projects and team-wide initiatives as needed.

Terms and Conditions

• Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week

• Schedule: Three days per week, 9 am to 5 pm (1-hour unpaid lunch break)

FareShare Greater Manchester is the region’s largest food redistribution charity, fighting food poverty and hunger by tackling waste. We source good quality food that is surplus to requirements from retailers and manufacturers. We rely on an army of volunteers to help redistribute this food to almost 300 frontline charities such as school breakfast clubs, community centres and organisations supporting those who are homeless, unemployed, and socially isolated.

As a Food Allocations Assistant you'll allocate surplus food to our Community Food Members (CFMs).  Working closely with our Warehouse team and volunteers, you'll quickly and accurately add incoming food to our database and then speak to our CFMs to confirm their orders.

• Act as the organisation’s Safeguarding Lead, with oversight of on-call, safeguarding training, and ensuring appropriate escalation mechanisms are in place.
• Oversee the design and implementation of advocacy and policy activities, ensuring the charity’s voice is informed by lived 
experience and is impactful at local and national levels.
• Act as a visible and hands-on leader for frontline teams, providing support, supervision, and inspiration to staff and 
volunteers.
• Monitor performance, outcomes, and feedback to ensure services are meeting objectives and delivering positive change 
for beneficiaries.

Governance:
• In partnership with the board of trustees, set and articulate our vision, mission and strategy, and keep this under continual 
review.
• Lead the development and implementation of Mermaid’s strategic plan, ensuring sustainability and growth.
• Liaise with the board of trustees to ensure the charity’s governance, structure, policies and procedures are appropriate 
and effective, taking remedial measures and implementing change as necessary. This includes supporting board 
development.
• Work closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees to support strong governance and informed decision-making.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting on organisational performance, risks, and impact.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidance and legislation, including the Charity Commission and the Fundraising 

Finance & Fundraising:
• Working with the Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Trustees, ensure Mermaids has robust, deliverable fundraising 
and finance strategies in place, and subsequent action plans are embedded throughout the organisation to support their 
delivery.
• In partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, ensure Mermaids has robust finance, HR, IT, data privacy and governance processes and procedures are embedded.

People and Culture:
• Line manage senior staff including the COO and service delivery managers.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, inclusive internal culture that values lived experience and wellbeing.
• Continue work to embed a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion across the organisation, as well as a focus on accessibility.
• Work to define and drive trans-centred leadership across the organisation, including ensuring that the organisation is a trans-positive, supportive employer.

External Engagement and Advocacy:
• Represent Mermaids publicly, including acting as the key spokesperson and strategic policy stakeholder, ensuring 
organisational awareness of the external landscape and the changing needs of trans children, young people and their 
families, and advocating for these needs to be met.
• Lead communications strategy, and lead press engagement by responding to media inquiries, interviews, press conferences and media events.
• Lead on stakeholder engagement, including with funders, supporters, community partners, and policy influencers.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of trans and gender-diverse children, young people and the significant others in their lives at a national level.
 

Just over a year ago, Children Not Numbers was founded in response to the unprecedented crisis facing Palestinian children in Gaza.

Our UK-based medico-legal NGO was established to be a voice for the most vulnerable and innocent victims: children. We chose the name Children Not Numbers to acknowledge that the dead and wounded are not simply statistics.

From the very beginning, our mission has been clear: to provide life-saving medical care, rehabilitation, and long-term support to children affected by war and poverty. Our six core objectives are:

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Fundraising Assistant to support our growing and ambitious fundraising team. This diverse role is key to helping us raise vital funds through individual giving, community fundraising initiatives, and challenge events. You’ll support the smooth running of our regular giving programme, handle general fundraising administration and ensure excellent supporter care and team efficiency. 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you:

• Have 1+ years' employment within a charity or NGO, ideally within a fundraising team or an international development organisation.
• Reside in the UK  and hold right to work status
• Are already set up, or are able to set up, in order to fulfil a contractor role (this is not a PAYE employee position)

You will also be skilled in: 

• Managing multiple tasks and deadlines within a fast-paced environment
• Written and verbal communication
• Demonstrating a high attention to detail and accuracy
• Using databases and online platforms (training will be provided)
• Acting as a team player with a positive, can-do attitude

It would be highly desirable if you:

• Bring lived experience of or strong affinity with the cause
• Are familiar with CRM systems, such as Beacon, Salesforce, Donorfy or Raisers Edge)
• Have knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship

We are currently recruiting for an Operations Officer to lead on administrative support to the charity under the direction of the Project Manager, supporting on engagement with various stakeholders and networks. The goal of the post is to ensure that The Welcome Directory can effectively develop the reach of our work and achieve exponential growth, by maximising administrative efficiency. 

Whilst this is a 6-month contract, there is the potential to extend where funding permits.

The role will include:

Leading on operational projects, including:

• Faith community engagement
  • Processing faith/ belief community registrations and maintaining records
  • Approaching existing and prospective faith/ belief communities, including follow up to the annual survey and periodical team campaigns
• Assisting with the production of the annual physical directory
• Co-ordinating the annual Affiliates Scheme
• Researching new initiatives or solutions

Supporting events, including:

• Support in the administration of the online Prisons Awareness Course and other webinar events, including technical support
• Planning bi-annual team days and any one-off events, in consultation with the Project Manager
• Planning bi-annual team campaign periods, in consultation with the Project Manager and Monitoring & Evaluation Officer
• Preparing resources and/or PowerPoint presentations and booking logistics, in consultation with the Project Manager and the Communications & Fundraising Officer

Leading on administration, including:

• Answering phone, email, and letter enquiries
• Purchasing of supplies and dispatch of resources
• Co-ordinating and setting up meetings
• Collating routine data and creating trackers to support operations
• Creating an annual team planner
• Taking minutes at specific meetings
• Leading on team password management
• Following up with stakeholders as required

Supporting on financial operations, including:

• Processing expenses claims and issuing internal invoices
• Paying-in cheques and paying external invoices
• Maintaining the organisational asset register
• Obtaining Gift Aid declarations
