Role Purpose

Our Communications Officer will help raise awareness of our work with our national partners and stakeholders. Working closely with the wider communications team, you’ll play a key role identifying opportunities to inform and engage our audiences through a range of communications, both digital and offline. You’ll have a strong eye for a compelling story to help demonstrate our impact and inspire collaboration from our partners, and you’ll know how to share these in the most effective ways to generate engagement.

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, pulling together work from across the organisation and our programmes into a clear plan to share with our national stakeholders. This will require a highly organised approach, a strong eye for detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Role Description

• Working with the senior communications manager, regional communications coordinators and fundraising team, implement a national content strategy and identify opportunities to share our work, including events and activities, in line with Thrive at Five’s communications aims and objectives
• Plan, write and edit a range of copy, both on and offline, including case studies, newsletters, blogs, infographics, films / video and promotional documents
• Produce content for Thrive at Five’s national LinkedIn channel, including videos, images and text, to support our overarching communications strategy and objectives  
• Analyse national and regional content performance across all channels and explore opportunities to drive audience engagement and growth, ensuring all online copy adheres to SEO best practice 
• Keep the Thrive at Five website up to date, writing and uploading regular news posts and blogs from across our programmes and activities 
• Support the senior communications manager to monitor and identify relevant opportunities for Thrive at Five to react to news, participate in online discussions and share insights to strengthen the brand’s authority 
• Work with the senior communications manager to review and update Thrive at Five’s brand guidelines, rolling out across the organisation and ensuring colleagues understand and can confidently apply them 
• Support the communications team with CRM and stakeholder management

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum of three years’ experience in a related communications role, including copywriting and content creation
• Excellent copywriting and editorial skills, including long-form content
• Experience delivering and reporting on content strategies
• Experience producing high-quality, clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate content for a range of platforms
• Experience working with and editing websites and CMS

About the Role

Summary

The Vision and Strategy Team at the National Church Institutions are looking to hire a Monitoring and Evaluation Lead to join their fast growing team. The purpose of this role is to oversee the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the SMMI grant-making programme to support the delivery of the Church of England's Vision and Strategy. Working with dioceses, external partner organisations and colleagues across the Vision and Strategy team, the postholder will build capacity around implementing M&E good practice for funded programmes and beyond, to ensure effective programme design, monitoring of performance, gathering of information and supporting the release of lessons learned to catalyse wider change within the Church.

The postholder will set M&E policies and direction working closely with their line manager (Head of Grants). They will manage one line report (Monitoring and Evaluation Operations Manager) that will be responsible for ensuring evaluations are effectively undertaken by external evaluators and delivering a limited set of evaluations and mid-term reviews.

The role is critical in providing trustees full confidence in the use of funding and its impact through monitoring and evaluation. This is a strategically important role, as it directly consolidates emerging learning to further support the Church's Vision and Strategy.

About the Department/Role

The Vision and Strategy Team has been established to support the whole Church in its embrace of and engagement with the national Vision and Strategy for the Church for the 2020s, and to support the implementation of the Emerging Church programme. The Vision and Strategy has three strategic priorities: to be a church of missionary disciples, to be younger and more diverse, and to develop a mixed ecology - doing church in varied forms and settings.

The Vision and Strategy team consults on and the Funding and Learning sub-team manages one of the largest grant-making programmes in the country, with £100m + of Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment (SMMI) disbursed annually to support the Church's mission and ministry across England, prioritising investment in the most deprived communities. The SMMI funding includes the Diocesan Investment Programme (DIP) which provides funding for dioceses to enable the bold outcomes and strategic priorities of the Vision & Strategy to become a reality in parishes and communities through programme funding, and smaller Capacity grants. The SMMI funding also includes the People and Partnerships Funding, awarded to partners and networks to help overcome national challenges, by scaling up successful work or innovating, to better support the local church in delivering the Vision & Strategy bold outcomes, and the Lowest Income Communities Funding to sustain and strengthen the Church's mission with low income and deprived communities.

What you'll be doing

• Responsible for the overall approach to M&E to both support the impact and assessment of SMMI funded projects and programmes.
• Develop the pool of evaluators used for baselining and evaluations, owning relationships and ensuring new contractors have synergy and sympathy with the Church of England's ways of working.
• Forward plan overall M&E work and oversee reviews of specific streams of funding and ensure the effective gathering of independent feedback from grantees.
• Work closely with the Head of Grants to make sense of the evaluations emerging in terms of overall Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning strategy and cost-effective use of budget

• Develop and oversee the Youth Engagement Programme as part of the ‘100 years of Ashburton Park Project’ including a range of activities in and nearby to Ashburton Park, including after school drop-in’s, evening sessions, group work and one-one mentoring.
• Support the development and engagement of young people in a Food Growing Enterprise based at Ashburton Lodge.
• Work closely with Croydon Council and other partners to support young people to engage with a wide range of programmes and activities that are part of the ‘100 years of Ashburton Park Project’.
• Deliver open access sessions, group and one to one interventions with young people including; half term, afterschool, evenings and residentials, using a planned youth work curriculum.
• Line manage youth workers, sessional youth workers and youth volunteers to plan, deliver and evaluate youth work termly.
• Contribute to the development of youth work across the area and lead on specific areas of work on behalf of the team.

Amongst other requirements, the successful post holder must have:

· Relevant experience OR qualification in Youth & Community (JNC), Social Work (QSW) or SEND.

· Proven experience working with young people ‘at risk’.

· Reliability, with a flexible approach to changes and able to work unsociable hours.

You will provide capacity-building in the form of advice, advocacy, support, and briefings across the London boroughs to statutory agencies and community organizations around the needs of Eastern European domestic abuse survivors, to embed best practice across our communities. 

It is desirable for candidates to be proficient in one or more Eastern European languages.

You will have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to women as well as up-to-date knowledge of legislation relating to survivors of gender-based violence. You will have excellent casework skills, good written and verbal communication skills, clear professional boundaries and be a proactive team player. All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the feminist values of empowerment and equality which underpin all of our work. 

The post holder will provide a high-quality personal welfare support service to Eastern European survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence and abuse and their children. The post holder will empower Eastern European survivors by providing them with emotional and practical support, including support to access safe accommodation. 

The post holder will provide capacity building in the form of advice, advocacy, support and briefings across the London boroughs to statutory agencies and community organizations around the needs of Eastern European domestic abuse survivors, to embed best practice across our communities.

A great opportunity to coordinate services for adult carers experiencing mental health issues in Merton, South West London.

Jigsaw4u is a charity with a proud 27 year history in supporting mental health and wellbeing in South West London. We are seeking a support worker who shares our values and person-centred approach, and who is passionate about helping adult carers (those with caring responsibilities).

This role presents an exellent opportunity to gain experience in, and knowledge of, social support work and mental health services, and would provide a great first step for those interested in building a career in this area.

The role is 4 days (28 hours) per week. Full time (35 hours per week) may be available if required.

Role in Context

Jigsaw4u’s Carers Peer Support Service supports adult carers in the London Borough of Merton through emotional support and access to information, opportunities and practical advice.

Working alongside other VCSE peer support providers in the Borough, other carer organisations or providers of statutory carers work, the post holder will work on improving pathways and coordinating services for adult carers experiencing mental health issues, often as a direct result of caring.  The post holder should have lived experience of being a carer, or of mental health challenges experienced by themselves or a close friend or family member

1. Purpose of the job

Be responsible in the designated area for:

• Delivery of one-to-one and group peer support sessions designed for and by adult carers
• Collecting data and reporting on direct work delivered with adult carers
• Collaborative working with the Merton Peer Support Partnership
• Developing and enhancing relationships with strategic partners
• Maintaining and striving to improve service delivery standards and effectiveness

1. Main duties

• Providing emotional and wellbeing support for carers through one-to-one, person-centred interventions
• Working flexibility to support carers aged 18 and over, who are caring for someone with mental health difficulties or experiencing mental health issues, often as a direct result of caring
• Empower and support carers to become involved in local Mental Health developments, particularly within SWLSTG
• Encourage and assist the uptake of Carers Assessments and the ability of carers and their families to assess their own needs to develop solutions and manage resources
• Assist carers in accessing opportunities for breaks from caring through activities within the partner organisations and external agencies
• Delivering time-limited, outcome-focused interventions to support personal outcomes so carers feel emotionally and practically supported
• Group-based support to address intended specific outcomes
• Encouraging access to local services to promote community inclusion and connectedness, enabling sustainable recovery and support
• Practical support to help carers access the right services and support based on needs, preferences, and the options available
• Evaluation of interventions provided through use of Outcomes Star and other
• agreed measurement tools
• To assist the Service Manager in creating monitoring reports
• To attend professional/monitoring meetings if required

The role is a two day a week commitment. (16 hours) £150 per day.  We are flexible on working from home but would prefer that at least one of the two days is at the office with the other two staff members, our Office Administrator and CEO.

It involves –

Monitoring and recording all income for the charity

Sourcing funding, at present primarily from Trusts and Foundation or individuals

Collaborating with the office team on other fundraising initiatives and events

Support the delivery of digital fundraising activities

Being a small team, other tasks may come up from time to time

Exploring and obtaining fundraising from Corporate entities.

It requires –

A good knowledge of a CRM database, preferably Advantage nfp

Good writing and communication skills

Someone with attention to detail

Someone who can work flexibly in a team.
