Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. The main aim of the service is to provide short-term support to customers to link with longer-term services to reduce escalations in need, and reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

What you'll do:

* Assessing referrals received by the service, within the 4-hour target, and providing rapid response to these.
* Inducting new customers, and helping orient them to the community and local area
* Completing/supporting housing referrals as required, supporting customers with budgeting tools and providing support to customers in accessing any benefits or addressing any issues such as benefits.
* Building a relationship with the local borough and any key agencies. For example: no recourse to public funds teams, homelessness teams, community mental health teams etc.
* Support planning, including ward management liaison, medication profiles and medication reviews as required, identifying the goals and steps to support customers to manage their own support and risk and ensuring these are correctly documented within Look Ahead's paperwork.

IBIS House MH Step Down & Crisis

Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. Work proactively with the team to handle the service caseload and support an effective team approach to meeting each customer's identified needs in a recovery-focussed way

East London Apartments provides 24 hour accommodation based support for up to 31 individuals with complex histories, multiple traumas, complex personality disorder(s) and a varied, disrupted housing history with experience of homelessness as well as individuals who have been diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health conditions who are under the Care Programme Approach (CPA).

When working with individuals with complex needs, who may display challenging, chaotic behaviours, regularly testing boundaries and have experienced multiple traumas as a result of abuse, neglect, years of street homelessness, or long stays in mental health hospitals, it is integral that the post holder is motivated to support individuals to progress. They should continually hold aspirations for individuals despite multiple setbacks, and display emotional resilience, able to process challenging incidents and remain motivated to deliver excellent support.

Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.

We're looking for 3 kind, compassionate and resilient Support Workers to join our Theresa House and Hamlets Way services in Tower Hamlets.

Teresa House and Hamlets Way are two supported housing accommodations for adults with enduring mental health issues. Both services provide a high level of support to 16 customers on each service. Teresa House is a fast stream service where customers are supported up to two years while Hamlets Way is a slow stream service where customers can expect support for a minimum of two to a maximum of 4 years.
The service is under Look Ahead management since April 2015 and the buildings are owed by Notting Hill Genesis. As a support worker you will play an integral role in developing effective support and risk management plans. You will also support customers with aspects of their day-to-day living including but not excluded to; social and physical activities, medication, benefit entitlements, maintaining living standards, exploring employment, education and training opportunities.

- To work on a rota based shift pattern which includes working early (8-4pm) and late (2-10pm) shifts 5 days a week.

As Programmes  Officer, you will be vital in the delivery of the Rise Up program, ensuring key milestones are met. You will support the day-to-day running of Rise Up by ensuring all practitioners are given clear guidance and support to engage fully with the program. You’ll have an active role providing LGBTQ+ affirmative support for LGBTQ+ children and young people. 

This is an exciting job opportunity to join a dynamic and committed team in a front-line role to support and deliver the activities and services of elop’s LGBTQ+ Children & Young People’s Service.

In this role you will have opportunity to design and deliver innovative youth support programmes, groups & other activities; provide LGBTQ+ affirmative support, guidance and mentoring on a one- to- one basis; work with our wider family work programme, support families with LGBTQ+ children and deliver work in schools to students & teaching staff.

Felstead street is a CQC registered care home that provide care and support for 24 adults with high level mental health needs but also with complex physical health needs.

As a Waking Night Mental Health Support Worker, you will play an integral role as a part of the team by offering the continuity of care and support in every aspect of their needs in line with individual support and risk management plans, such as medication administration, emotional support and regular welfare check, personal care and so on.

Shift: 10.15pm-8.15am. Must be able to work some weekends and bank holidays. 4 working days (10 hours x4) a week, according to the rolling rota.

What you'll do:

Buildng supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere in the home.
Following lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness to health and safety for self, colleagues and customers.
Supporting customers to maintain a safe, healthy and hygienic living / shared environment.
Providing emotional support and assistance to customers overnight who may be experiencing difficulties with their own mental health and seeking appropriate support.
Providing support with daily living activities including practical assistance to customers who may require this during the night.
Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community.
Managing the petty cash during the shift.
Continuing the infection control duties at night.
Maintaining fire safety and H&S at night, and managing the arising issues in line with the local protocol and Look Ahead policies and procedure.
Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards

We have two Project Manager vacancies for our Young People in the Criminal Justice System Programme in Bristol. The vacancies are listed separately but we are open to a discussion with candidates who wish to work a combination of both roles, about setting up an alternative working pattern that works for them. Project Manager (Support Worker): 1-1 support for young people at risk – 35 hours/week (full-time)

In this role you will provide 1-1 intensive support to a caseload young people who are identified as being at risk of offending or have already had some contact with the justice system (e.g. the police). You will provide face-to-face support to each young person, in their local community, to help them develop confidence, aspirations, and a pro-social mindset. Key to this will be helping them to recognise their strengths and capabilities, consider positive lifestyle choices, and create an action plan to help them move forward to a brighter future.

Project Manager (Course Tutor): “For My Future” delivery for young people – 14 hours/week (part-time)

“For My Future” is a bespoke 6-week course designed in 2019 specifically for people in the justice system. Focusing on both personal skills and practical ones (CVs, applications, interviews), the course is delivered either in person or online to small, single-sex cohorts over a 6-week period. To succeed in this role, you will have experience of supporting people in group scenarios and be confident presenting both in person and online. Groups will need to be carefully managed to ensure each young person gets the best experience and can benefit from the course.

About the role

Medact’s Movement Organiser will work alongside our Campaign Leads and Head of Movement Building to grow our movement, developing groups of healthcare workers into confident campaigners who can make a visible difference in the struggle for health justice and peace. The successful candidate will spend approximately 80% of their time with one of our campaigners, and 20% participating in cross-organisational work. The ideal candidate will have an interest in, or experience of organising or campaigning around, issues related to economic justice or the climate crisis. 

About you

This is a skilled role, but you don’t need to have worked for an NGO or be a professional organiser to be right for it. You might have organised in your workplace or local community to take action on issues that you care about. Or, you might be a health worker who has seen the impact of injustices such as a poor environment, immigration or counter-terror policies,  low income or precarious housing on your patients, and wants to challenge decision-makers and hold them to account. 

You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, partner organisations and community groups. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment organising and campaigning. Upskilling and empowering our movement is a fundamental part of this role, so you’ll need the ability to deliver training and workshops through an anti-oppressive lens.
