What You’ll Be Doing

As Programme Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our charity’s operations. You will:

· Lead and evolve a suite of support services (Feel Well, Move Well, Eat Well, Live Well), ensuring delivery is safe, inclusive, and high quality

· Manage the referral process and beneficiary pathways, ensuring safeguarding, responsiveness, and positive outcomes

· Develop and manage systems to collect, analyse, evaluate, and present impact data to inform service improvement and reporting.

· Shape strategy and contribute to service innovation, growth, and long-term sustainability

· Build and maintain strong partnerships with wellbeing providers, community organisations, and external stakeholders

· Lead our digital presence – overseeing social media, website content, campaigns, and communications (either directly or by coordinating volunteers/students)

· Contribute to charity-wide operations, including policy, governance, safeguarding, and internal reporting in support of the CEO

· Support campaigns, events, fundraising activity, and cross-organisational projects that promote engagement and sustainability.

Job Title: Domestic Abuse Trainer

Location: Homeworking with a requirement to occasionally work at Head Office (Vauxhall, London)

Salary: £30,108 per annum Inclusive of London Weighting, which may not be applicable depending on your home location and any agreed permanent homeworking arrangement.

Contract type: Part Time, Fixed Term (Until May 2026)

Hours: 30 hours per week (across four days - Monday-Friday - days to be discussed)

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Domestic Abuse Trainer and Assessor on a part time, fixed term contract until May 2026. 

Refuge has recently been granted funding from the Ministry of Justice to develop training for Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs). This role has been created as a fixed term post to support that project. This is a strategic project and the overall aim of the MoJ is to increase access to training for IDVA professionals.

As the Domestic Abuse Trainer, the post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a high quality, accredited training programme, including workshops, assessments, and digital resources for professionals in the domestic abuse sector.

This role will work in partnership with our Service Delivery subject matter experts and our People & Organisational Development team to develop and deliver domestic abuse training for Independent Domestic Violence Advocates and other front-line specialists. You will also be leading on assessments for delegates attending the training which should demonstrate competence through on the job training.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in training delivery or education in the domestic abuse sector. They should also have an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and the barriers many women face in seeking support.

We have an opportunity for a Buyer to join our team in Basingstoke.

This is a full time permanent role with a mix of home and office working. 

The starting salary is £30,000 to £36,000 depending on your experience.

The Role:

As a Buyer you will be supporting the delivery of our procurement sourcing projects and the pipelining of some of our procurement activity. 

You'll work collaboratively with the wider Procurement team, project teams, and engage with key stakeholders to assist with  identifying their requirements.

Job Title: Service Manager

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Service Manager to lead on the delivery of high-quality services to the women and their children living in our refuges and survivors of domestic abuse supported by our community outreach service.

We are recruiting for Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.  This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.

Our service provision in Derby includes culturally specific service for South Asian women as well as a specialist multiple disadvantage support worker who support survivors facing enhanced needs.

The post holder will provide line management and support to the accommodation based and the outreach service staff. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. You will also ensure that all service users in refuges and the outreach service always receive a high-quality support service in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures.

The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.

Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting.  In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.  

You will have knowledge of relevant criminal and civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.   

As member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call management service.

The service manager will be responsible for ensuring that contractual and other funding requirements are met fully, this includes ensuring that the services operate within the allocated budget and that Refuge’s high-quality standards are maintained. The role may involve visiting potential sites and contributing to the establishment of new services in conjunction with the development team.

The job involves working closely with staff that support survivors and their children who are experiencing domestic abuse and other gender-based violence.

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join our welcoming and knowledgeable team and as a Dementia Adviser for 12 months in North Herefordshire! The successful individual will work as part of the team to deliver advice, guidance and , signposting to people affected by dementia and their families and carers.  This is a hugely integral role that allows you to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia. We work mainly from home, but also you will be regularly meeting colleagues and clients face to face, over the telephone and virtually to give people the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future.
Your role will include:

- Being a named, trusted contact for the person with dementia and their carer through all stages of their diagnosis.
- Facilitating established dementia clinics in local GP practises.                                         
- Building the skills to handle a variety of issues and referring to specialists when needed.
- Managing your own caseload and referring people back to health professionals when required.
- Regular travel across North Herefordshire.

As a Dementia Adviser, you'll be the go-to person for support, information, and guidance right from the time of diagnosis through to when someone moves into residential care. About the role:

The Advance Prison Advocate will support women on remand and those unsentenced within the prison setting, providing pre-release support; focused on Accommodation, Finance, debt & benefits, Family & significant others and Social inclusion.

The Prison Advocate will develop a referral pathway with the Offender Management team within the prison, for women to access the service and will work in partnership with the existing service providers operating within the prison. You will co-design a person-centred support and action plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their needs and any risks in relation to the interventions identified above including providing ‘through the gate support’. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women in custody.

You will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with women in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.

You will build strong relationships with the Pre Release teams to ensure clients are able to maintain or access suitable accommodation, finance, benefits and debt, family and social inclusion support including negotiating terms on behalf of the women. Ensure that interventions are responsive to and meet the needs of women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds. This, together with referrals to wider partner organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential.

About You:

To be successful as the Prison Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system obtained through academic study, experience of working in the criminal justice system (or closely associated social system).

The ability and experience as a caseworker delivering gender specific and trauma responsive interventions which support resettlement and rehabilitation of female adults in the criminal justice system whether in the community or in prisons.

You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.

Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload including maintaining and updating records, remaining focused on action plan goals, and keeping to deadlines

You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.

What is Shared Lives?

Shared Lives is a little bit like fostering, but it’s for adults who need some support to live as independently as possible. Someone who needs support goes to live with one of our ace Shared Lives carers and they support them to live their best lives, do all the things they love and be part of their communities. PSS invented Shared Lives back in 1978 and it’s now become a national model of care that lots of other social care providers run. We’re really proud of that. It’s the most brilliant, safe and cost-effective form of care there is (and we’re not just biased – in October 2023, CQC rated 97% of Shared Lives schemes in England as good or outstanding, in comparison to just 78% for the wider social care sector!).

We have Shared Lives schemes in seven different places across England and North Wales – and we’ve got big plans to add to that.

What do we need out deputy head of Shared Lives to do?

Alongside the head of Shared Lives, your job will be to make sure each one of the services in Shared Lives is absolutely top-notch in every way:

• They provide excellent support to the people who use our Shared Lives service
• They support people to reach their goals
• Any issues that crop up are dealt with effectively and in line with our policies and procedures
• They run effectively and like clockwork (but are flexible enough to change things up when it’s needed – even if it’s how things have always been done);
• They’re performing well financially, they’re sustainable and they’re cost-effective
• Carers, PSS Shared Lives teammates and people we support all feel really well informed, motivated and part of a big family

You’ll be supported by a cracking team of service managers who will lead each of the seven individual regional services within Shared Lives. They’ll be looking to you to help them review and develop their services, looking at best practice and national/local strategic priorities together.

On a day-to-day basis, your work would involve things like:

• Getting behind our Shared Lives teams and offering them your support with Care Quality Commission (CQC) compliance, safeguarding reports and complaints
• Leading the way when we win new contacts in new areas of the UK (the plan is to grow our schemes)
• Deputising for our head of Shared Lives: maintaining the risk register for services, identifying, managing, monitoring and escalating risks appropriately when our head of Shared Lives isn’t around
• Helping keep our Shared Lives carers and supported people feeling happy, connected, motivated and part of our big Shared Lives family
• Finding out what our carers and supported people need and how they feel things are going by heading out on the road to meet them
• Supporting our Shared Lives communications and engagement manager with nailing any info and insights they need for their role by sharing what you know, and supporting them with maintaining and introducing communications and engagement initiatives

About the role

Are you passionate about shaping policy to improve workforce health and reduce inequalities? We are seeking a Policy and Research Manager to join our Healthy Lives directorate and contribute to advancing the recommendations of the Commission for Healthier Working Lives.

In this pivotal role, you will lead the delivery of policy development and research projects, including externally commissioned work, ensuring outputs are delivered on time and with impact. You will support the implementation of a programme testing preventative workplace interventions, synthesise emerging evidence, and develop credible policy recommendations to influence decision-makers.

You will also play a key role in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, representing the Health Foundation externally, and communicating insights to a wide range of audiences across policy, practice, and research communities.

The Healthy Lives directorate leads the Health Foundation’s strategic work on the wider determinants of health, focusing on areas such as employment, education, housing, and community. Within this, the Economic Determinants of Health team builds evidence and policy analysis to influence government and employer action. DARE is the lead organisation in Darwen working with asylum seekers and refugees. We provide assistance across a wide range of issues, including helping asylum seekers through the complexities of the asylum system. We address issues of destitution and assist asylum seekers and newly recognised refugees to access key services including housing, welfare benefits, health, education and employment. St John Ambulance is England's leading, volunteer-powered first aid charity dedicated to first aid education and emergency response across England. The Finance Business Partner in Volunteering is responsible for providing the first line of support and assistance with the development of financial plans, analysis of the financial performance and forecasts of the Volunteering businesses. • Work with the relevant stakeholders, to timetable in the production of the charity’s monthly management accounts, the annual budgeting and in-year forecasting process.
• Drive continuous improvement in St John’s financial management reporting, forecasting and analysis.
• Utilise technology and tools to continuously improve the presentation and content of the charity’s financial management reports.
• Provide clear and understandable narrative to stakeholders and the rest of the team, advocating good accounting principles.
• Identify and implement cost and efficiency savings, without compromising the quality of the service and accuracy of the reporting.
• Work with business partners to provide the financial analysis and appraisal for business cases.

The successful candidate will have:

• A full professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or CIMA).
• Ideally, experience in the charity sector and working in large complex organisations.
• Significant experience in management accounting processes.
• Demonstrable, previous, extensive experience in a finance business partner role.
• Track record of supporting the end-to-end processes for in-year forecasts and annual budgets.

This 21 hours per week role is within our London Borough of Hounslow local service team, reporting to the Local Services Manager, working alongside an experienced team of Dementia Advisers and supported by Volunteers. Volunteer role management is a key responsibility.

You will co-ordinate, organise and facilitate the successful and safe provision of group services delivered in community venues across the borough: Singing for the Brain, Dementia Cafés and a Peer Support Group. 

Our service delivery is both virtual and face to face, with a strong emphasis on community outreach and engagement. We particularly welcome applications from people who are representative of the communities we serve in Hounslow.

This is a home-based role, with frequent travel within the borough. Expenses are paid for travel.

About you

This is a rewarding front-line role that makes a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia. You will be working across a large and diverse community and will have the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of people and adapt to different settings.

- We are looking for someone with strong organisational and people skills who will help us to expand our reach and hold relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- You will need to demonstrate an understanding of dementia and the impact that it has on people’s lives. You will have the confidence to work independently, facilitating groups of people in community settings and managing volunteers.
- Experience of supporting similar groups, leading and co-ordinating person-centred engagement and activities, is highly desirable. The ability to travel independently within the borough is essential.
