Purpose of Job

To deliver a high-quality service to and facilitate opportunities for individuals with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and their families/carers through Shine membership.  To empower and enable members Living with the conditions to lead healthy and happy lives through greater independence, better condition management and by creating links to the Shine community across England.

SHINE has over 14,500 members with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. This post will bring a real focus to the Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk area and will be an exciting opportunity to engage with members and develop and deliver the services we offer.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12 year olds has been established for over 3 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place.

We are looking for someone who can cover the Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk area. You will be home based but will be required to attend clinics in this area and London, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally.

About the role:

We are looking for an Assertive Outreach Worker to join us (on an up to 12 months maternity cover), stepping into a position that blends leadership, creativity and direct impact. In this role, you will hold a caseload of 15 clients across Westminster and temporary accommodation sites in boroughs across London, working as part of a close-knit, specialist team alongside four other Assertive Outreach Workers, a manager and a psychologist. Your day will be as varied as it is rewarding - guiding clients to sustain their tenancies, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, engage with substance use support services, and access routes into employment. You will cultivate strong partnerships with local agencies, from statutory services to specialist providers, ensuring no opportunity for progress is missed. You will also play a crucial role in assessing needs, identifying risks and maintaining accurate, meaningful records that help shape the support we provide. In September 2024, National Numeracy launched a new ‘Schools & Families’ programme to support Primary School staff, parents and carers in increasing pupils’ confidence with numbers, positive feelings about maths, and awareness of the value of maths outside of the classroom. Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same

This role requires using your initiative and proactive attitude than reactive.

You will also be working with women who are in trauma and can be in crisis requiring you to be empathetic but aspirational. You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting, across the three sites.  You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You will be expected to work in one of the three Refuges as part of your role

• You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies.

• You will have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

Outside of this, you will have excellent administrative and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.

The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We recognise that this will require big, bold changes in the way The Wildlife Trusts work, not least in how we mobilise others and support them to organise within their own communities. 

The Landscape Recovery team was set up as a response to the urgency of the inextricably linked nature and climate emergencies. The purpose of this team is to encourage and facilitate cross-Wildlife Trust action on landscape scale recovery, inject the rewilding approaches into the work of the Wildlife Trusts, coordinate land management activities where scale-economies are clear and to substantially increase funding for nature’s recovery across the Wildlife Trusts. The team is developing a range of programmes where RSWT acts as a ‘collective vehicle’ for groups of Trusts. For example, RSWT is leading a programme of peatland restoration through the Precious Peatlands project. Opportunities for such programmes are increasing – the UK is at a tipping point where either wildlife continues to decline or we finally grasp the opportunities of nature’s recovery. 

About You 

Working closely with colleagues at the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts and with Local Wildlife Trusts, the Land Management Practice Officer will support The Wildlife Trusts Nature Reserves community of practice. This role will focus primarily, in the first instance, on supporting local Wildlife Trusts to reduce their pesticide use. 

The post will help Trusts develop and share knowledge, skills and capacity in the realm of pesticide use reduction and, where possible, also across other aspects of land management. This work will support Goal 1 – Nature’s Recovery – of the Wildlife Trusts’ Strategy 2030. 

You will be a highly organised, collaborative, and an experienced individual adept at managing customer focussed relationships. You will understand the needs of the Wildlife Trusts and the context in which they operate. You will be an excellent communicator – proficient at running meetings, organising information and putting together reports.

About the role:

We are looking for an Assertive Outreach Worker to join us (on an up to 12 months maternity cover), stepping into a position that blends leadership, creativity and direct impact. In this role, you will hold a caseload of 15 clients across Westminster and temporary accommodation sites in boroughs across London, working as part of a close-knit, specialist team alongside four other Assertive Outreach Workers, a manager and a psychologist. Your day will be as varied as it is rewarding - guiding clients to sustain their tenancies, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, engage with substance use support services, and access routes into employment. You will cultivate strong partnerships with local agencies, from statutory services to specialist providers, ensuring no opportunity for progress is missed. You will also play a crucial role in assessing needs, identifying risks and maintaining accurate, meaningful records that help shape the support we provide. • Understanding and experience of working with the issues faced by people who experience mental ill health, substance use issues, and who have offending histories, in accessing the appropriate support from services.
• A working knowledge of best practice to support individuals who may be classified as ‘experiencing multiple disadvantage’ including Trauma Informed Approaches.
• Experience working as part of a multi-agency partnership to address complex problems and bring about positive change.
• Familiarity with relevant housing, health and social justice legislation, policy and best practice relevant to systems change and people with multiple needs.
• A good and current understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures.

We are now recruiting for a Lead Coach in Kennington - an outstanding opportunity to work as part of a local church to deliver the Spear Programme.

You’ll be working with the local church to manage the delivery of Resurgo's award-winning Spear Programme. Over the last 20 years, Spear has supported more than 11,000 young people across the UK with the work-ready skills and mindset they need to succeed in employment, no matter the challenges they face. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room.
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively.

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees.

Training the Assistant Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Assistant Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback.

Trainee recruitment [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics.

Continuous professional development

• Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and supporting the Church Partnerships Managers with overall team training and development.

• An active Christian, passionate about personally representing the values and beliefs of Resurgo and the partner church
• You have demonstrable experience as a coach, or a background in youth work or teaching, and are keen to develop these skills further
• You have a heart for young people and releasing their potential, no matter what challenging circumstances they are facing

• You are great at building relationships, with solid communication skills
• Good administrative and organisational skills, working well under pressure with the ability to prioritise workload
