At Wakehurst, Kew’s wild botanic garden in Sussex we have an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced learning and public engagement specialist to join our Senior Leadership Team to lead a newly structured department. Reporting to the Director of Wakehurst, this role will help to deliver our mission by leading formal and informal learning, participation and events, delivering inspiring and informative experiences and content and connecting people to nature through Wakehurst’s designed and wilder landscapes, conservation, and research programmes.

Our ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a passion for connecting people to nature. You’ll bring a proven track record of creating inspiring visitor experiences and events that drive attendance and income, alongside confidence in leading multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating internally and externally. With strong strategic thinking and hands-on delivery skills, you’ll manage complex projects, budgets, and KPIs while championing accessibility, safeguarding, and EDI best practice.

Experience in fundraising, ticketing strategy, and audience engagement is essential and we’re looking for someone with excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills. A background in botanic science, conservation, or biodiversity is a bonus.

The African Gifted Foundation (AGF) exists to develop Africa's future STEM leaders by supporting gifted young women to access world-class education. Our flagship project, the African Science Academy (ASA) in Ghana, is a fully-scholarshipped boarding school focused on mathematics and physics, with students drawn from across Africa.

The Opportunity

As Head of Fundraising, you'll be a key member of our senior leadership team, shaping strategy and driving income growth to transform opportunities for hundreds more young African women in STEM.

In your first year, you'll:

• Take ownership of our £1m fundraising portfolio and develop a clear growth strategy

• Identify and secure at least 3-5 significant new funding partnerships

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and deliver a compelling fundraising strategy aligned with AGF's growth ambitions
• Set ambitious but achievable income targets and manage performance against them
• Provide clear metrics, insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board
• Identify opportunities for income diversification and risk mitigation

Major Donor & Partnership Management

• Manage and grow our portfolio of major donors, trusts, foundations and corporate partners
• Personally cultivate and steward high-value relationships
• Identify and pursue new funding prospects through research and networking
• Develop compelling cases for support tailored to different donor segments

Operational Excellence

• Establish and maintain effective systems for pipeline management, CRM and donor tracking
• Ensure excellent donor stewardship, reporting and compliance with all funder requirements
• Create compelling donor materials and impact reports, working collaboratively with communications, programmes and finance teams 
• Take responsibility for collecting compelling impact data, including through liaising with alumni
• Build efficient processes that support both immediate delivery and long-term growth

Representation & Advocacy

• Represent AGF at donor meetings, events and in philanthropic networks (UK and occasionally international)
• Act as an ambassador for our mission and impact
• Build AGF's profile within the UK and international education funding community

Essential Experience & Skills

✓ Proven track record of strategic fundraising in the UK charity sector, with demonstrable success in securing five-figure+ gifts from trusts, foundations and major donors

✓ Relationship builder with excellent ability to engage, persuade and steward high-value donors at senior levels (trustees, HNWIs, corporate decision-makers)

We're looking for a Caretaker to join our team based in Medway, Kent. You will support the team to ensure our properties are maintained to a high standard by carrying out a variety of tasks including cleaning and handy person duties. You will deliver a professional, customer service focused service to ensure our properties are safe and work towards our good homes standard. You will be based within our  Medway homeless project, focused on people with a housing-related support need, including people experiencing homelessness, in unsuitable accommodation, or at immediate risk of homelessness.

Responsibilities include:

• Clean buildings and rooms including end of tenancy deep cleans
• Prepare accommodation for new occupants
• Carry out basic repairs and maintenance which could include furniture upkeep, gardening, replacing bulbs, painting and decorating
• Work closely with teams to carry out risk assessments
• Work with external partners for further repair tasks

About You

We're looking for someone who has a keen interest in Caretaking and has an understanding of health, safety, and environment, with the ability to apply this practically to a residential service. You will be able to take ownership of your role and projects, and can work independently as well as part of a team. You will understand the needs of our residents and able to work flexibly to meet tailored needs for our residents and staff.

• Proven appropriate experience in a similar role, this can include housekeeping, cleaning, or handyperson work
• Proactive nature, with the ability to make decisions and use initiative to provide logical solutions, taking ownership and accountability

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who is keen to develop their HR career in the charity sector to join our HR Team. You will play a vital role in supporting the close-knit HR function by carrying out a range of generalist HR administrative duties, keeping our HR systems and records up to date, assisting with the day-to-day support throughout the employee life cycle and providing trusted HR support to staff and managers.

You may have some experience of HR administration (perhaps as part of a wider administrative role) and feel ready to move into a role with more responsibility. This is not essential – we are looking for skills, aptitude and potential. You will be provided with a thorough in-house training programme, and we’ll also provide you with support to complete the CIPD Level 3 qualification upon successful completion of your probationary period.

Eligibility for the role

The role centres on ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of service users and the building during night hours, while delivering person-centred support. Key responsibilities include co-producing risk assessments, crisis and safety plans with service users and professionals, providing tailored support around health, wellbeing, substance misuse, and mental health relapses, and assisting individuals to achieve positive outcomes. Alongside crisis management and reporting, the role also involves caretaking and housing management duties such as flat checks, health and safety monitoring, CCTV supervision, emergency alarm checks, nightly cleaning tasks, and regular building patrols to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

This role requires demonstrable experience in supporting people with mental health and complex needs, ideally including those with substance misuse issues, alongside a strong understanding of recovery approaches, co-production, and the wider legislation relevant to mental health crises such as welfare reform, the Care Act, and housing pathways. The candidate must be able to engage service users in assessments, co-produce and review support and safety plans, and deliver activities that reduce anxiety, build confidence and self-esteem, and promote a self-defined recovery journey. They should be motivated to maintain high standards in often unpredictable or challenging circumstances, have strong IT skills including MS Office and case management systems, and possess knowledge of building safety and basic repair issues. Flexibility is essential, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, alongside the capability to handle and record financial transactions accurately, all supported by excellent spoken and written communication skills.

The Brain Tumour Charity is leading the way in research, support, and advocacy for everyone affect by brain tumours. Our mission is simple but urgent: to accelerate a cure for brain tumours and improve life for everyone affected by this devastating disease.

We have a five-year strategy with three strategic priorities: to transform the research landscape, to raise voices to campaign for change, and to improve quality of life through providing support and best care for everyone diagnosed with a brain tumour. Reporting directly to the CEO and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Finance and Resources provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Finance, Governance, Planning and Performance, IT Services, and Facilities teams. The role is also Company Secretary and SLT Lead for the Finance Committee and Governance & Ethics Committee of The Charity. The postholder leads a department of c.15 colleagues, with five direct reports including three Heads of Teams covering Finance, IT and Planning and Performance; a Data Governance Manager; and a Facilities Manager.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re seeking a qualified accountant with strong, senior leadership experience in a similar role from within any sector. Whatever sector you come from, you will be a self-assured professional who can partner with others who don't have your financial background to support strategic change.

You’ll be resourceful and innovative, keen to work alongside other leaders across The Charity to ensure our finances are secure, sustainable, and utilised for the greatest impact for the brain tumour community. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database management, are required, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence in presenting to stakeholders. Coaching and mentoring abilities to develop staff, a person-centred approach, and a strong customer service ethos are vital. You should have an understanding of employment and mental health barriers, knowledge of safeguarding, equality, data protection, and health and safety, and awareness of the Equality Act 2010 and employment law. Evidence of ongoing professional development will be highly valued.
