The Role
We have recently set a new 3-year strategy, leading to a major transformation of the organisation. To support this, we have built a new Project Delivery function and invested in key capabilities, including project management and business analysis. This role involves initiating and managing complex projects from inception through to delivery, and providing mentoring to colleagues managing smaller projects. You’ll champion the new project management methodologies and support colleagues in adopting these practices.
About you
You are a highly effective project manager with significant experience in managing complex projects through the entire lifecycle, particularly those involving technology. You have a track record of delivering project benefits and working collaboratively with stakeholders. As a self-starter, you can quickly build relationships and influence colleagues up to executive level. You are patient and supportive, able to guide colleagues through new project management methodologies and governance frameworks. Experience in business analysis is beneficial.

Senior Grant Making Manager – 12 months fixed term contract
The Senior Grant Making Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of funding in our England Directorate and in particular our responsive funding in the London, South East and East Region.
Reporting to the Senior Head of Responsive Funding in the London, South East & East Region, you will play a key role in delivering our strategy, ‘It Starts with Community’, maximizing the impact of our funding across the region with a particular focus on London where you will work with others to develop our regional and London specific strategic direction, ensuring excellent management and oversight of day-to-day grant making and learning.
You will own key stakeholder relationships within London and play a lead role in developing the regions’ stakeholder engagement and relationship strategy. You will be a key representative of the National Lottery Community Fund in the region as part of the Regional Leadership Team, deputising for the Head of Region as necessary.
You will also be a key member of the England Leadership Team, maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across the England Directorate including other regional teams, key business partners as well as colleagues across The Fund.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading on funding strategy and delivery for London. Working to support the delivery of our Reaching Communities programme and the diversification of our funding portfolio to include partnerships work, more intentional grant making and our commitment to being more than a funder.
- Stakeholder Engagement across London and the region – To maximise our impact, to ensure a joined up collaborative approach and for learning and awareness raising, we need to work with others. You will hold, develop and maintain a strong network of external relationships.
- Leading, supporting and inspiring a team of 3 x Funding Managers (who you line manage) –providing support and overseeing the work of their teams (approx 20 staff), with a focus on delivery, values and maintaining wellbeing. You will also provide leadership to the full regional team.
- Leading through change and supporting the delivery of our new operating model and ways of working. This includes ensuring teams understand and adapt to change, that operating structures align and our processes and procedures are consistent across all of England responsive teams.
- Engagement locally and at an England and UK level. – You will liaise with and hold key relationships with other regional hubs and England funding teams as well as functions in Business Support, Knowledge and Learning and Communications, to ensure a joined up one Fund approach. You will also need to maintain solid relationships across a number of key Corporate functions including Finance, Legal, Audit, Service Design/GMS amongst others.

As Community Gardening Movement Builder (England & Wales) you will be responsible for:
- Leading the digital and in-person convening of community gardeners across England and Wales, to increase the engagement of community gardens, support groups to develop and thrive, and build the platform of the community gardening movement.
- Mapping key stakeholders, campaigns and movement-building activity underway in sectors and spaces relevant to community gardening, keeping colleagues up to date with developments, and flagging challenges and opportunities.
- With the Community Partnerships & Networks Manager, building strong relationships with community gardening groups, partner organisations and key external stakeholders in the policy sphere – such as local authorities, mayoralties and devolved governments.
- Working closely with colleagues in the Communities team and other teams across the RHS to plan, commission and platform a wide range of digital content that will encourage, inspire and enable the community gardening movement.
- Working closely with RHS colleagues, partner organisations and community gardeners to commission, collate and promote data, research and stories that will help amplify the voices of community gardeners and build the case for policy change.
About you
You will be able to show:
- A passion for growing, nature, and the role that community gardening can play in bringing people together and addressing social, economic and environmental challenges.
- A track record of experience in a movement building, policy, strategy, public affairs or external communications role (or the ability to demonstrate similar levels of knowledge if you have not worked in one of these specialisms before).

We are seeking an experienced community fundraiser who will play an instrumental role in our established as well as new fundraising events, community engagement, stewardship, increasing awareness of the Centre as well as income generation.

We are now looking for a Senior Advocacy Manager focused on women’s rights and humanitarian response. This role sits in our Advocacy and Influencing department, where you will help shape how ActionAid UK engages with politicians, civil servants, networks, and other organisations, ensuring our positions are heard, understood and acted on.
Day to day, you will work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to develop advocacy strategies that reflect the realities faced by women during crises. You will build constructive relationships with parliamentarians, civil servants, policy actors and partner organisations, representing ActionAid in meetings, sector networks and coalition spaces. You will help shape our policy messaging, brief senior colleagues for external engagements, monitor developments across UK politics and humanitarian policy, and ensure we are well-placed to respond to emerging opportunities or risks. We are looking for someone with strong experience in advocacy, public affairs, parliamentary or policy work, and a deep understanding of gender equality in international development and/or humanitarian contexts. You will be confident building relationships at senior levels, able to translate complex policy issues into compelling and coherent narratives, and comfortable navigating political dynamics and making judgement calls. Proven political judgement and experience of lobbying government, Parliament, and other institutions is essential, along with excellent writing/presentation skills..
Above all, you will share our feminist values and commitment to working in solidarity with women’s rights movements globally.
This role requires regular travel into central London for meetings, parliamentary engagement and external events. No international travel is expected.

The London LGBTQ+ Community Centre is an award-winning charity launched by a team of volunteers in 2017. In December 2021 we opened our first physical space in London’s Bankside.

Overall purpose of the role

Governance Manager (12-months maternity cover)
About the role
This is an exciting time to join Emmaus UK and provide maternity cover for our Governance Manager.
This standalone role is responsible for managing the operations of the board and committees of Emmaus UK, as well as for providing support to local boards at Emmaus communities across Great Britain as they look to develop their governance arrangements.
The postholder will manage the board of trustees, leading on recruitment, induction and compliance, ensuring meetings run smoothly and are minuted effectively. They will also work as company secretary, managing the smooth-running of the AGM, and ensuring returns are made to Companies House and the Charity Commission within appropriate timeframes.
The Governance Manager is responsible for monitoring the development of policies, tracking completion and working with managers to continuously improve policies in line with changing regulation.
The role will also involve extensive work with members of the Emmaus movement, through the performance of reviews of local governance of members, reporting back to local boards on areas to celebrate and actions to develop. They will also be responsible for developing Emmaus UK’s best practice toolkit for trustees to refer to in developing their local governance arrangements, and for liaising with the wider Emmaus movement through facilitation of the membership processes with Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International.

- Manage the board of trustees, leading on recruitment, delivering a comprehensive and appropriate induction, dealing with enquiries, maintaining declarations of interest, skills audit and eligibility forms and ensuring all details are up to date and accurate.
- Act as company secretary for Emmaus UK, leading on the preparation for and delivery of the Annual General Meeting, filing required returns, developing documents associated with membership, and ensuring the charity is compliant with relevant charity and company law.
Board and Committee Meetings
- Coordinate board meetings including organising venues, liaison with the relevant secretary and chairs in creating agendas, preparing and distributing papers and taking and circulating accurate minutes
- Oversee the smooth-running of committee meetings in conjunction with the admin team, including creation of the annual calendar.
- Ensure all follow up actions are coordinated, and ongoing rolling actions logs are maintained and appropriately shared with the Emmaus UK staff team.
Emmaus UK Governance Development
- Lead on governance projects within Emmaus UK, including but not limited to risk, policy management and internal governance reviews, reporting to the Board and subcommittees as appropriate.
- Provide governance advice and support to staff members on an ad hoc basis.
- Monitor all internal policies and procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose and kept under review by the relevant staff members.
Federation Governance
- Lead on reviews of members’ local governance arrangements, scheduling, undertaking analysis, reviewing documentation, collating responses from members and observations from Emmaus UK Senior Leadership Team members, and reporting to local boards on findings and Emmaus UK’s Audit & Risk Committee on emerging themes.
- Provide guidance for federation members on governance development through ad hoc advice, the production of governance toolkits and supporting resources.
- Facilitate the membership processes and requirements for Emmaus Europe and Emmaus International, supporting transitioning members and contributing to movement-wide events such as the World and Regional Assemblies, international visits and exchange programmes.

About the Role
Working alongside the Managing Director, you will play a key role in supporting the day to day running of the BDD Foundation while leading on key projects during this three month cover period. The primary focus of this role will be to oversee and manage the Overcoming BDD Programme (OBP), ensuring effective delivery, volunteer support and supervision, and a high quality, compassionate experience for all participants.
In addition to the Overcoming BDD Programme, you will provide project management support across other core initiatives, including the Schools Project, Conference planning, and any additional projects that form part of the charity’s priorities during this period. You will work collaboratively with the team to maintain operational efficiency, uphold the charity’s values, and contribute to activities that extend our impact and support the BDD community.
This role also involves HR responsibilities, including overseeing the full employee life cycle of staff and volunteers, reviewing and updating charity policies, and managing any people or volunteer related queries or concerns. Knowledge and understanding of HR processes is desirable, but not essential - this can be discussed at interview or offer stage should it not already be part of your skillset.
