About Leeds Baby Bank

At Leeds Baby Bank our mission is to ensure no child goes without. We support families in Leeds, with children aged 0-5 years, who are experiencing poverty. We provide families with all the essentials and equipment they need for their babies and young children. This includes bed bundles, nappies and toiletries, baby baths, potties, highchairs, prams and buggies, clothes and shoes, toys and books.

Families are referred to Leeds Baby Bank by our professional referral partners. This includes midwives, health visitors and social workers. This ensures we’re helping families who are in the most need. We also run an Outreach project, where we support families in the community at four different community centres across Leeds. Here we provide signposting and advice as well as essential items for young families.

About the role

The Head of Charity will work with the board of trustees to lead the day to day running and management of Leeds Baby Bank. You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic with demonstrable leadership experience and a strategic mindset. The Head of Charity will lead a dedicated staff and volunteer team to achieve the ongoing strategic aims of Leeds Baby Bank, whilst also having the skills to support the charity through a period of ongoing change.

You will be able to think creatively, be a problem-solver, seize opportunities and create a sustainable future Leeds Baby Bank. You will have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to managing the demands of the role, and the skills to build strong relationships with a wide variety of people including service users, staff, volunteers and supporters.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Manage the implementation of Leeds Baby Bank’s strategic plan.
• Develop and present an annual business plan and income and expenditure budget to deliver the strategic plan.
• Manage all operational activity of the charity in line with the business plan and budget, ensuring they are the central drivers of the charity’s work.
• Develop and maintain systems which monitor progress against the business plan and budget and provide regular reports to the Board of Trustees on progress against those plans.
• Create the annual Social Impact Report and share with key stakeholders and partners.
• Support the creation of the annual accounts reporting via QuickBooks.
• Ensure that the legal requirements of the Registered Charity are met and that all trustees, staff and volunteers are kept abreast of changes in relevant legislation and policy as appropriate.
• Responsible for the charity’s policies and procedures, leading on their implementation in the charity’s work and ensuring trustees, staff and volunteers are aware of their responsibilities.
• Review policies and procedures proactively and reactively as required, in line with the charity’s review procedures.
• Responsible for the charity’s day to day risk management procedures, this includes updating risk assessments, ensuring that ongoing risks are reported on and highlighting new risks to the Board of Trustees.
• Provide strong leadership, direction and management in all aspects of the charity’s work and represent the charity with stakeholders and publicly.
• Facilitate the continual development of the charity’s services by introducing new ideas, identifying new opportunities and increasing income.

Overview  

At Young Roots, we want to see a compassionate and welcoming society for young refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. We work alongside young people seeking safety in the UK, building trusted relationships, providing practical and emotional support and promoting young people’s rights and power.   

Our youth clubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, allowing young people who have fled danger, had traumatic journeys and who are often here alone, to find community and connection, have a space to be a young person and access support in addressing a whole range of practical challenges they face. We also draw on our evidence from working every day with young refugees and asylum seekers to call for change to the laws and policies which are harming young people.  

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers. 

You will be focused on ensuring our programme activities achieve our outcomes, are in line with our strategy and identify areas for change and development under the direction of the Head of Services. An excellent communicator and skilled at working with partners, you will be key in the implementation and running all of our weekly youth activities, including a Youth Club and Advice and Support Hub working closely with the Youth Development Worker and having oversight of our weekly Young Women’s group. 

As an experienced manager, you will lead our team of skilled youth workers, working alongside the Brent team to provide holistic support to young asylum seekers and refugees in Brent.  

You will prioritise the participation of young people in all activities, ensuring excellent safeguarding by following our policy and protocols, and ensure that we collect excellent data for monitoring and evaluation and to aid our future planning. You will also assist with staff and volunteer recruitment and reporting to our funding partners.

About the role:

This is a vital and high-profile role for us and requires a person with strong technical skills and the power of independent thought; meticulous organisational skills and attention to detail; and drive to constantly develop new and improved ways of working. The successful candidate will be a qualified and committed accountant, ready to lead financial control for Ark’s central Finance team.

The Financial Controller will be mainly responsible for ensuring the highest standards of financial control are met across Ark, its subsidiaries and the various external ventures Ark supports. Within this, the role will be responsible for the processing and reporting of financial accounting data for Ark and its related entities, day-to-day cash flow management and compliant statutory returns (including VAT).

The Financial Controller for Ark and Ventures will report into Finance Director for Ark and Ventures. This role is currently operating hybrid working in our West London Office on a permanent basis working full time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff management including training and regular appraisals. The team currently consists of two Finance Officers. Also supporting two business partners.
• Provide up-to-date financial information and technical advice to Ark management and the Venture teams, including cash management.
• Lead the year-end process, including creation of annual accounts for Ark and its related entities (excluding Ark Schools) and overseeing the audits.

• Relationship owner for Lloyds (banker), including set-up of Commercial Banking Online and credit cards in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation. Responsible for maintaining all bank accounts and mandates.
• Responsibility for writing and maintaining finance policies and processes, including the financial Scheme of Delegation, and ensuring these are freely available to all relevant staff.
• Accounts Payable Lead ensuring all suppliers are paid on time. Responsible for processing weekly BACs runs and authorisations in line with the Scheme of Delegation.
• Manage insurance provision for the Ark Group.

Key Requirements:

• Right to work in the UK.

About the role:

This role is based In Pontypool Police Station however we have currently adopted a hybrid model. As a Triage and Early Interventions Officer you will:

• Act as the first point of contact for clients referred in to the service, ensuring that comprehensive impact and risks assessments are completed and a tailored response to each client's needs is provided.
• Carry a caseload of clients who require more immediate and short term interventions, referring on those with more long term needs either internally or externally. Ensure each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions.
• Ensure that support plans are developed with clients where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring information for the service.
• Provide accurate and timely performance information for internal and external use.
• Work with the client and other statutory and voluntary agencies to address the identified needs.
• Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns including both child protection and vulnerable adult issues.
• Ensure that all clients are of aware of their rights under the Victim's Code of Practice and the Witness Charter.
• To work alongside a team of staff (and volunteers where applicable) to reflect the diverse community and the needs of the victims, including those with particular vulnerabilities, utilising national and local resources to deliver individual, bespoke services with respect, dignity and sensitivity.
• Comply and keep up to date with data protection legislation, confidentiality and organisational policies and procedures, as well as all legislation connected to your work.
• Work as part of a team to ensure that all outcomes and KPI measures are met relevant to the local contract.

You will need:

• To demonstrate a good understanding and use of the English language both verbally and in writing Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to undertake impact and risks assessments and identify appropriate support
• Experience of safeguarding issues and legislation relating to both child protection and vulnerable adults.
• The ability to manage a demanding workload and to meet a range of conflicting deadlines.
• The ability to identify, develop and maintain partnerships with all relevant external organisations.
• Excellent telephone and IT skills required to use a database and undertake all administrative and reporting requirements.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team but also to work independently in a variety of locations without direct supervision.

Job Title: Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker

Location: In service based in Catford across two sites (SE6 2QB & SE6 3BE)

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours a week over a rota which can include 12.5 hour shifts (including breaks) Monday to Sunday (Including weekends, and bank holidays) 08:00 - 20:30. We also have a night rota between 20:00 - 08:30 which is not a part of this role but desirable if there is flexibility around working patterns

About the role

We are looking for a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker to work within our Integrated Community Rehabilitation Service which provides rehabilitation support to residents who face challenges with their mental health, and have been discharged from acute mental health wards to start structured rehabilitation support for 9 months in the community. You will work directly with our residents to support them to overcome their personal barriers and challenges to achieve positive outcomes. You will do this through one to one support sessions, group sessions and activities, and general support with their daily living. This is not a personal care role, but is a role to rehabilitate and empower our residents towards independent living.

The role further includes:

• Supporting residents with taking their correct medication
• Carrying out various health and safety tasks, including reporting repairs and maintenance
• Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal
• Plan and deliver various activities which includes within the service and outside in the local community. This can include days out to museums and other areas of interest by our residents
• Carrying out housing management support including welfare benefits support

The service works closely with a dedicated clinical team provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM). The clinical team includes an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, and Psychiatrist, complimented by a Substance Misuse/Dual Diagnosis worker in our internal team. The Rehabilitation service works with adults aged between 18 and 65, from Croydon, Lewisham, and Southwark. You will be part of a service which offers 24 hour support across 2 buildings in Catford.

The role of Helpline Advisor

For several years, Guts UK have provided information, support and guidance to our community over the phone and by email. This year, we’re formalising that service into a professional Helpline and are looking for someone to join our small, talented support team.

During the initial 6-month trial period, the Helpline phone lines will be open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, but this may expand or change later in the year. Queries could be received via phone, email or web-query form.

​As a member of the Helpline team, you will offer on demand information, support, guidance and signposting primarily to enquirers living with, or caring for those with, digestive conditions and symptoms. The support offered will include receiving calls, emails and web form queries from people who are looking for more information about their digestive condition, need to know where they can turn to for support, or are waiting on a diagnosis and need help navigating how to get there. You will provide appropriate information, guidance and signposting to our own information and other external support organisations. As a charity, Guts UK covers all digestive symptoms and conditions, across the whole of the UK, and so no two days will be the same and queries will be diverse and interesting.

The role holder will man the Helpline (alongside others from the team) from 10am to 2pm (with a 30-minute lunch break) and during that time will receive, respond to and appropriately log phone calls, web-queries and emails.
