Job description

Apprentice Recovery Worker

Location: Leeds

Salary: £16,546 per annum

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract,15 months

Humankind is one of England’s most successful home-grown charities. They provide free, confidential support for alcohol, drugs, housing, or mental health in friendly local places across the UK.

The organisation is committed to fair chances for all and making sure everyone can access the help and support they need to realise their potential. By joining their teams of passionate individuals, you will be contributing to making this happen.  You can really make a difference by believing in the service users and their ability to make positive changes when they don’t always believe in themselves.

The Role

Are you looking to start a rewarding career journey where you can gain a qualification whilst helping to improve the quality of people’s lives?

The organisation is currently looking to build their Recovery Co-ordination teams, with some exciting and newly created opportunities at Forward Leeds.

Their teams provide support for individuals who are experiencing problematic substance use. As an Apprentice Recovery Coordinator, you can expect the following:

  • You will be supported to build the skills and knowledge to be able to provide specialist, tailored support to enable service users to make positive changes.
  • You will work towards managing a caseload by creating, implementing, and reviewing recovery and treatment plans.
  • You will contribute towards reducing substance-related harm to individuals and the wider community.
  • You will work towards completing the Level 2 apprenticeship in Adult Care with a local training provider. This will include achieving Level 1 in functional skills (Maths & English) if you haven’t already.

Skills & Experience

  • You will have a passion for making a difference and fair chances for all should be at the core of everything you do.
  • You will be empathic and understanding in nature.
  • As the role requires you to engage with study you must be willing to undertake a Level 2 apprenticeship in Adult Care with a local training provider. If you have existing health and social care qualifications at level 2 or higher then this may impact on your eligibility to undertake the role.
  • A basic understanding of IT would be useful too as you will be using a laptop to help you carry out your job.
  • Humankind recognises and values the support lived experience can offer individuals, this role encourages applicants who may have personal lived experience of alcohol/substance use and/or experience of accessing recovery services in support of alcohol/substance use/mental health issues. Community service and Volunteering will be taken into account.

Benefits

  • Generous annual leave entitlement (27 days, plus bank holidays, increasing to 32 after 1 years’ service)
  • Annual leave purchase scheme
  • Enhanced occupational sick pay
  • Enhanced employer contribution to your workplace pension
  • Death in service benefit
  • Free Will writing
  • Eyecare vouchers
  • Blue light card discount
