Our charity delivers a range of awareness campaigns and support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a poorly understood pain condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are looking for 2 experienced social media and communications volunteers who are able to develop posts and campaigns from design to inception, create fresh and engaging content, increase engagement and to increase awareness of the charity and of the condition we represent.

Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and would like to draw on your experience in the communications world to help the charity deliver engaging content and communications to help us spread our aims and message to all our audience.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Engagement: Help increase engagement, improve the number of followers/likes, create & execute a content calendar
• Content Creation: Produce fresh, branded and engaging content for our social media channels 
• Graphics: Prepare graphics and text for sharing across channels 
• Engage with our followers and encourage interaction 
• Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis
• Support charity campaigns, marketing, events and fundraising activities by promoting them on our social media feeds
• Use your creative skills to support strategies to engage, grow, and widen our target audiences
• Develop publicity materials and communication techniques for social media to raise awareness of our chronic condition 

You will be with a small team of volunteers who will provide an overview of our existing social media content, our brand and how we have approached our social media content to date. 

Experience
We are looking for a volunteer who has experience in:

• Different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
• Writing and editing marketing content for social media platforms including Facebook, X, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (especially TikTok, Instagram Reels & posts and YouTube)
• Building strategies to increase social media following and /or build fundraising or awareness campaigns
• Developing a coherent brand voice for social media, from content creation to community interactions
• Using and setting up tools such as Buffer, Canva etc
• Creating and executing content calendars to help plan social media activity

Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that have been bereaved.

Job Title: EPAfrica Summer Team – Project Manager (PM)
Location: Kakamega, Kenya
Duration: Approximately 1st July – 13th September 2025, with limited flexibility on start and finish dates.
Start Date: UK-based training and preparation begins in June, with travel to Kenya for final pre-summer preparation in late June.

Compensation: Non-salaried placement, with the following expenses covered:

Role Overview

As a Project Manager (PM), you'll be part of EPAfrica’s Summer Team, which is our in-country leadership group responsible for overseeing and supporting Project Workers (PWs) to deliver meaningful programmes of investment in Kenyan schools. You’ll take on a leadership role that blends operational oversight, pastoral care, and high-level decision-making to ensure the success and safety of our summer projects. This is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute meaningfully to international development, and support passionate volunteers in-country.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct managerial responsibility for our volunteers in-country, including our Project Workers (PWs) and a “Summer Team” of coordinators. 

• Lead and support a cohort of PWs throughout their placements in partner schools, including:

  • With the support of coordinators, deliver trainings on topics such as project management, effective international development practices, safety and wellbeing, and cultural awareness

  • Provide pastoral support and act as the first point of contact for volunteers in-country

  • Oversee project progress, support PWs in addressing challenges, and ensure investment projects stay aligned with EPAfrica’s mission and theory of change

• Implement our in-country monitoring and evaluation programme, enabling us to effectively plan for and deliver future investments. This includes:

  • Monitoring visits to current & recent investment schools to gauge impact of EPAfrica’s work

  • Assessment visits to potential future EPAfrica participant schools

  • Staying up-to-date research into developments in the Kenyan education system and potential impacts on our work

  • Maintaining relationships with our network of local partners.

• Managing risk and implementing an emergency response to crises.

• Maintain clear and proactive communication with the central UK-based charity team.

• Strong familiarity with, and demonstrated interest in, EPAfrica’s values and operating model.

• A keen demonstrated interest in grassroots international development is required; previous experience in this setting (volunteering, fieldwork, or prior work experience) preferred.

• Experience managing teams to deliver project-based work, and leading with empathy. 

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. 

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems under pressure, with good  judgement, and decision-making skills.

• Experience as a Project Worker or previous Summer Team involvement preferred.

About Youth ESOL: 

Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to young people at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling young people to do well at school or college.

About the Role: 

CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face study programme called ‘Get Ready for School.’ 

This programme is attended by young people out of education and is based in Tooting on Mondays and Wednesdays. Core delivery of the programme includes English, Maths, Digital skills, complemented by Reading and Writing for Pleasure.

Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session per week, during these times:

• Monday 10am - 3pm
• Tuesday 2pm - 6pm
• Wednesday 11am - 6pm

Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.

Volunteer  Tasks and Responsibilities: 

• Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes;

• Help young people to build confidence in digital literacy;

• Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

• Engaging learners in informal conversations or games during breaks to help them practice their conversational English.

• Checking the session plan aims with the lead teacher and assisting learners achieve them;

Are you passionate about supporting people to improve their language and communication skills? If you’re knowledgeable in the field of ESOL and able to facilitate engaging, in-person sessions for adult learners, we’d love to hear from you! 

Purpose of role 
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and creative tutor with excellent interpersonal, numeracy and digital skills; excellent written English and efficient organisational skills to teach one of our outreach classes in South Kensington, London every Saturday from 16:00-18:00.

End – 02/08/2025 (negotiable)

The course is aimed at learners designed for English speakers of other languages at Entry 3/ Level 1 who want to further develop their English language skills along with their employment skills. Learners can choose to specialise in retail, care or other vocational area. Learners will focus on the fundamentals required in a working environment, bolstering their confidence in writing and reading skills and communication abilities.

Skills/ experience

• CELTA or similar qualification is desirable
• Teaching experience is desirable

The aim is to support adult learners who need to improve their English language skills, working both individually and as part of the Adult Education team to plan and deliver an agreed number of ESOL courses.

As a Volunteer Assistant Projects Coordinator, you will support the planning and execution of events and projects for RollaDome All Skate. Working alongside the Event Projects Coordinator, you will gain valuable experience in project management, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, assisting with both the administrative and operational aspects of project delivery. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist with the planning and coordination of events, projects, and community outreach initiatives. 

• Support the logistical aspects of events, including scheduling, vendor coordination, and resource management. 

• Help with the preparation of marketing materials and promotion of events through various channels. 

• Communicate with team members, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on event objectives. 

• Provide on-the-day event support, ensuring that operations run smoothly and tasks are completed efficiently. 

• Assist with tracking event progress and managing project timelines. 

• Help with post-event evaluations, including collecting feedback and providing administrative support. 

Skills & Qualifications

North London Scout District is the leading inner-city Scout District in the country, covering the London Boroughs of Camden, Haringey, Islington and the City of London and providing outdoor experiences and skills for life for young people from a very diverse city population. The Scout District is a registered charity with over 2,000 members in active Scout Groups across the boroughs we cover. We have a lovely camp site and centre with 8 acres of woodland and open fields hidden away in the heart of Bounds Green, and a modern centre and sports hall on the Holloway Road as well as other property, considerable reserves in various investments, and four employees.

We are looking for a new Treasurer to join our Trustee Board and support our ambition. This is a challenging and rewarding role, helping to ensure the organisation continues to fulfil its role in developing young people, managing resources responsibly and remaining sustainable. 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in strategic financial management and of working for or within a Board. Equally important is a desire to support young people, commitment to our Scouting values and a collaborative style, able to draw out the skill and potential within our team.

Job description

As a Trustee you will:

a) Be an important part of the body that governs the charity and ensures it delivers its mission effectively.

b) Actively participate in meetings, offering guidance and support to ensure that North London Scout District delivers experiences for young people and supports adult volunteers in a safe environment.

c) Set North London Scout District’s budgets, plans and financial reports, ensuring they meet the organisation’s needs and the relevant regulatory requirements.

d) Help ensure North London Scout District is complying with UK Scout policy and processes and all relevant laws, as well as updating and reviewing its own policies and procedures. .

e) Act with care and skill in North London Scout District’s best interests.

f) Be or become a member of the Scouts.

As a Trustee you share, with all the Trustees, equal responsibility for the charity.

Person Specification

Prospective Trustees will:

a) Be committed the development of young people through Scouting.

b) Have experience of developing good relationships with people and organisations, stakeholders and supporters.

c) Be able to work in a team, recognising and respecting the difference between the Trustees’ role and that of staff or volunteers.

d) Be able to contribute to and ensure North London Scout District’s future plans and strategic development and/or financial stability.

All Trustees, as members of The Scouts, will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check with the UK Disclosure and Barring Service (a DBS check).

The prospective Treasurer will have:

a) A recognised accounting qualification.

b) Significant experience of financial management, budgeting and reporting, including the management of investments. 

c) An understanding of the financial, strategic and operational risks and their mitigation in a charity context.

d) Be familiar with charity accounting and statutory reporting requirements.

The Treasurer leads on all financial matters, working with the Finance Committee.  The Finance Committee is responsible for making budget recommendations and financial reports to the Board and for agreeing and overseeing financial and related policies. The Treasurer liaises closely with the bookkeeper, an employee, to provide quarterly financial reports, the annual budget and annual statutory accounts to the Board.  Input is also required during the annual audit process.

The Board

North London Scout District is governed by a Board of between 8 and 15 (currently 13) Trustees, who are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June. Trustees normally serve for at least 4 years.

Trustees are not paid but travel expenses may be claimed for attending meetings.

The Board meets (via Zoom and in person) 5 - 6 times a year, usually early evening on a Wednesday. Regular dates are agreed a year in advance.

Individual Trustees also join or lead the Board’s Committees.  There is currently a Finance Committee (which meets 5 times a year, a week or so ahead of Board meetings. We also have occasional task groups for short-term items.
