Job Title: Housing Support Worker

Location: Warwickshire, Dispersed Accommodation (mainly based in South Warwickshire)
Salary: £25,857.12 per annum
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Housing Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire.

You will be joining the Warwickshire Dispersed Safe Accommodation service. This service will provide emergency safe accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. Housing Support Workers will work closely with the Floating Support Workers and Child Support Workers (who provide the personal support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children) to ensure that the emergency accommodation and support meets the whole range of survivors’ needs.

The post holder will be responsible for the Health and Safety and maintenance of emergency safe accommodation units in multiple 1–3-bedroom properties across Warwickshire. This will include the practical set up and maintenance of home furnishings and utilities in each property and the management of the cleaning and replacements required between each use of the accommodation unit.

The post holder will provide support to survivors fleeing domestic abuse around accessing housing benefit for the dispersed accommodation and support survivors with exploring and accessing move on accommodation.

The Housing Support Worker (HSW) will be responsible for ensuring that the properties will maintain Refuge’s accommodation standards and comply with all Health and Safety legislation and requirements. 

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and deliver project activities related to social value on this high-profile Network Rail Project. They will be responsible for engaging stakeholders (schools, staff, local communities, supply chain) in the development and delivery of social value plans as part of the wider SP&C programme. The role has a wide remit and will include delivery of key requirements relating to social value.

This role would be well suited for an individual who is enthusiastic about socio-economic development and who has creative problem-solving abilities. 

What the role involves:

• Engaging with communities to understand local needs and develop Social Value Delivery Plans that deliver added value for stakeholders through investment in signalling, power and communication renewal programmes across Scotland.
• Assessing the potential impact of works on communities – social and economic, and developing programmes to mitigate negative impacts and enhance local benefits.
• Working with the VolkerRail SP&C Framework Lead and HR Business Partner to deliver education and employability programmes to meet contract committments (including local employment, apprentices, graduate employment, year in industry placements, and work experience).
• Coordinate a programme of school engagement and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) activities for the SP&C Framework. Work with educators, training providers, and stakeholders to meet the outcomes of the skills agenda and inspire the next generation.
• Coordinate a programme of community investment through volunteering and community donations.
• Support the company's Fairness Inclusion Respect (FIR) Strategy working with internal and external groups.
• Reporting on social value data against targets and providing assurance in line with company procedures.
• Create internal and external comms content to celebrate progress in delivering local social value.
• Actively participate in various internal, client and stakeholder groups to support the social value delivery.
• Actively seek out opportunities for partnerships and work collaboratively with other Network Rail Contractors in Scotland to amplify the impact for rail stakeholders.

About you

• Educated to HND/HNC or equivalent in relevant subjects (Sustainability, CSR, Environment, HR, Community Relations) and/or previous experience that can be demonstrated in a similar role with a clear passion for delivering social and economic value for local communities.
• Experience in co-ordination of events, volunteering, school engagement, skills and employment would be a distinct advantage.
• Flexible, proactive and positive attitude; diplomatic and patient, demonstrating exceptional initiative to co-ordinate multiple parties and act collaboratively.
• Be able to collect, coordinate and report social value data, with training provided on company systems.
• Proficient in MS office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Confidence to engage many stakeholders including the wider team and supply chain to inspire action to deliver against targets including volunteering, apprenticeships, STEM, work experience etc.
• Personal resilience and ability to thrive in a challenging and fast-moving environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and able to seek out opportunities.

The National Safeguarding Team supports churches, dioceses, religious communities, cathedrals and other Church bodies to make the Church of England a safer Church for all. About this key role
As our Support Worker, you will support the promotion of the project, both internally and externally, and the achievement of project targets for engagement and progression onto training, employment and other outcomes for the Young Adults with Complex Emotional Needs (YACEN).  You will maintain accurate and timely client records and evidence of all achieved outcomes according to programme requirements and as required by the funders, while also building excellent relationships with local authorities, voluntary organisations, mental health services, schools/colleges and other services across Bedfordshire.

About the role:

As in Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) you will support victims of domestic abuse who primarily live in Luton. This role will be part of our other wider specialist services covering Bedfordshire.

As an IDVA you will be:

• Providing a high quality support and advocacy service to victims of domestic abuse.
• Managing a caseload; identifying and assessing risks and needs, providing a tailored crisis intervention service trough individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Working with other agencies and advocating on behalf of service users in order to help them access services to keep them safe.
• Working within a multi-agency framework consisting of partners as well as MARAC and other local partnerships to offer a coordinated response to domestic abuse.
• Promoting the service and raise awareness of domestic abuse through the delivery of training

You will need:

• Experience of working in support and advocacy with victims of domestic abuse

As a creative and tenacious fundraising manager, aligned to our feminist ethos and our service users', you will have experience in securing six-figure, multiple-year grants, with the proven ability to effectively communicate services, and to develop funder and wider sector relationships aligned to our strategic priorities. About you 

Desirably you will have some experience of working as an Advocate, providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education and support. 

You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

How are staff supported to work remotely?

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.

When you need to travel for work, expenses will be paid (mileage or public transport costs). 

VoiceAbility offers the usual regular manager one to ones, Staff forums and communities of practice depending on role. Team meetings with a mix of virtual and in person approach.

We have a unique opportunity for a project worker to join Oasis Hub South Bristol as part of our work with students and families.  This role will create real impact in South Bristol by working alongside our Academy colleagues to support young people attending Oasis academies and the wider community.

We’re looking for an individual who has a passion for supporting young people and compassion for all to take on this exciting role. You’ll need to be an effective communicator and ready to work with some of our hardest to reach families with drive and initiative. The successful post holder must have:

· Good standard of basic education, including English and Maths Level 2

· Experience of youth work either as a volunteer or professionally

About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school.

Working with the Senior Caseworker and Team Manager your role and responsibilities include: 

•Support staff to liaise with families/carers to communicate information regarding our work

•Support staff to keep and maintain robust recording and monitoring systems

•Maintain, collect, edit and store documentation of our work including photos, case studies for Newsletters, funding reports and other records

•Support our senior case workers with weekly drop-in advice sessions at KLS, including completing forms with families, general admin tasks etc.  

•Support casework team with making and following up on internal and/or external referrals, signposting whenever relevant and according to adequate referral pathways and in response to the young people’s/family's needs – with support and guidance from staff

•Add information to our database – guided by team leads/managers - log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken

•Support with casework tasks, guided by senior caseworker and manager, from initial contact to resolution, maintaining confidentiality throughout

•Liaise with external agencies and organisations on behalf of clients

•Respond to enquiries by telephone, email, referring on internally or externally organisations when necessary

•Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation

•Supporting Refugee team with general admin, database, evaluation data

•Maintain excellent safeguarding practices

•Supporting with partnerships liaison work – keeping records up to date 

Teamwork and reporting

•Work with Future Foundations team members to coordinate work, refer young people and/or parents/carers to our casework and advice team.
