About the role

Student voice is central to the SU, a key part of what makes us a special place to work and critical to our mission to support students to have the best experience possible whilst they study at UOG.

The Advocacy and Campaigns Manager leads a team of people whilst also supported elected and employed student leaders to shape the student experience of all UoGSU members. A critical management role, there is scope to shape a team and develop on a solid foundation and fruitful partnership with our institution.

Main purpose of the job

The role exists to ensure that the Students’ Union operates as a democratic organisation and that the student voice is heard and a part of everything we do. The position will:

• Manage, review and promote the Student Representative structure
• Develop robust mechanisms for gaining student feedback in order to fulfil the
• Students’ Union’s key objective of effective representation.
• Lead on elections for our Full Time Officer team.
• Work closely with the University as well as internal SU staff and student leaders.
• Oversee the work of our independent and impartial advice service.

Lead on academic representation

• To manage, develop, promote and review student representative schemes across the SU structures in partnership with UOG colleagues.
• To liaise with the relevant University staff in matters of student representation and ensure administrative processes are effective.
• To devise and deliver student representative training in a manner which is accessible to all students.
• To manage, develop and promote SU feedback tools (both online and in-person alongside wider student voice activities and events.
• To ensure that feedback from all sources is analysed through a student focused lens.
• To work with student leaders and ensure actions developed from feedback is taking place where appropriate.
• To regularly formally report on feedback received through SU channels to university stakeholders and relevant committees.
• To lead on the production of key SU research and reports as necessary (including but not limited to government/sector led consultations) and support team members to produce other research as required.
• To develop and deliver reports for internal audiences based on data, insight and student voice.
• To act as a key support staff member in University meeting alongside elected student leaders providing support and briefings as necessary.
• Support career staff and student leaders to negotiate actions and decisions during University change projects.

Support and develop our democratic functions

• To effectively encourage student engagement with democracy.
• To oversee all election processes and act as Deputy Returning Officer for SU
• elections.
• To stay informed of local, national and international student experience developments in order to advise the elected student leaders.
• To act as the lead staff member to the Annual General Meeting of students and SU Council meetings.
• To assist in the review and updating of SU Governance documents.
• To support and advise elected Officers on their student-led campaign activity (also known as priority campaigns)

Advice and advocacy leadership

• To have responsibility for the independent SU Advice Service.
• To design and deliver improvements to the developing service which may include the
• building of triage support, referrals or innovative ways of work with other agencies
• To ensure that service standards for the operation of the independent SU Advice Service are monitored and upheld at all times.
• To ensure the SU Advice Service is delivered in an actively inclusive manner making its services accessible for all of our members.
• To ensure best practise is followed in the storage and use of sensitive information held by the SU Advice Service in line with GDPR and any other relevant data legislation.
• To ensure that the work of the SU Advice team links well with student representatives and the campaigning elements of UoGSU to make best use of service data trends.
• To act as an advocate for the service within the UOG community and beyond. This will include the production of reports to develop funding streams for the service.

About the role

We are looking for a self-driven, highly motivated team player to join our HR department. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this postholder will work closely with the two HR People Partners. The post holder will lead and manage all formal employee relations cases whether it be disciplinaries, grievances or complaints. They will also Project manage and deliver on HR projects including the development of new initiatives and HR policy updates.

Responsibilities

• To lead and manage employee relations activity across the charity by working closely with the key stakeholders.
• To provide guidance and advise senior managers in line with MSSC policies, employment legislation and ACAS Code of Practice regarding complex HR situations.
• To lead and take notes at all MSSC disciplinaries, grievances and formal complaints to support the process. These could include conduct, performance management/capability, absence management. grievances, bullying and harassment, discrimination, whistleblowing etc. 
• Ensure appropriate documentation of cases including file notes, correspondence, accurate meeting minutes etc, ensuring their employee file is kept up to date and organised.
• To provide support to the HR People Partners on broader ER issues, if necessary, such as absence management/OH referrals, performance management/PIPs.
• To support and assist the Director of HR and the team on a range of HR projects and initiatives.
• To develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures and guidance documents, ensuring legal compliance and best practice.
• Manage the appraisal process including launch communications, monitoring completions and reviewing forms for any ER issues and logging training needs.
• Lead the annual staff survey launch and collation and analysis of data.
• To cover for the Director of HR and other team members as required.

• CIPD qualified or equivalent experience
• Strong experience of leading employee relations cases and advising senior management
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practice
• Strong organisational skills – the ability to juggle a demanding workload and manage priorities and working under pressure and takes pride in producing high quality work

The Role

Reporting to our Head of Development, the post holder will be responsible for creating relevant fundraising material and developing fundraising activities, whilst building and accessing a network of Corporate Champions and monitoring performance against the income generation strategy.

You will be responsible for managing and mentoring the Corporate Partnerships and Fundraising Account Executive and together will implement a corporate  stewardship plan that will create meaningful engagement and opportunities for corporate giving and fundraising.

We’re looking for someone with experience of working in corporate or community fundraising, individual giving and/ or events management, who knows how to build and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders to deliver objectives. 

You’ll also be comfortable delivering compelling partnership proposals and presentations tailored to corporate audiences, and will represent LionHeart at a variety of RICS, partner firm or fundraiser events and other networking opportunities.

You will be monitoring the budget that the teams invest in grants that are awarded to the external partners with whom Macmillan works to support people living with cancer. • Liaising with professionals, including police officers, Family Liaison Officers, mental health services, coroners, GPs, and other support organisations.

Rekindle exists to create fierce critical thinkers who believe in themselves, question inherited truths, and learn in joyful, creative ways. We do this by developing a youth-led supplementary school provision which nurtures and supports working class young people (aged 11 - 14) who have faced numerous challenges on their education journey but still have a passion to learn and achieve their aspirations.

Role purpose

To make this vision a reality we’re looking for a Youth Team Manager to join our team in Tulse Hill, London, on an initial 12 month basis.
