Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

• Collaborate with CERAD leadership and program teams to develop and refine comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with the organization's mission, values, and programmatic needs. This includes identifying fundraising goals, target audiences, and appropriate fundraising methods. • Assist in identifying potential donors (individuals, corporations, foundations), developing compelling communication materials, and supporting efforts to cultivate and steward donor relationships. This may involve research, drafting proposals, and assisting with donor correspondence. • Contribute to the development of high-quality grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and other funding organizations. This may include conducting research, drafting sections of proposals, and ensuring alignment with donor guidelines. • Support the development and execution of online fundraising campaigns, including peer-to-peer fundraising, social media appeals, and online donation platforms. This may involve content creation, campaign monitoring, and analysis of results. • Assist in maintaining accurate donor records, tracking fundraising progress, and generating reports on fundraising activities and outcomes. • Proactively research potential funding sources, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors, and provide recommendations to CERAD leadership.

The Bid Writer (Grant & Funds) will play a critical role by assisting the manager to prepare the proposal that helps the organization to further develop and establish.

Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. • Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers in the Mid-Sussex area

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Lets SHINE Together!

We are currently inviting applications for qualified honorary counsellors/psychotherapists and student counsellors/psychotherapy trainees to join our counselling team. Kingston Bereavement Support provide free one-to-one counselling on a short-term basis of ten sessions to adults who have been bereaved.

We are looking for candidates who have had at least one year’s clinical experience, and/or have extensive experience in a hospital, hospice or bereavement service, and have acquired a minimum of 50 clinical hours.

Training on bereavement counselling will be provided, and we offer a diverse ongoing CPD training programme. This covers things like working with complex clients, substance abuse and working with clients bereaved by suicide.

Kingston Bereavement Support is primarily a face-to-face service to best support the local community. Supervision for our counsellors is free of charge and provided fortnightly.

As a Volunteer Education Mentor, you'll join a dynamic team to deliver 8 mentoring sessions over 8 weeks aimed at building group rapport and covering essential topics like communication, goal setting and problem solving. These sessions will be with a consistent group of young people, ensuring you can build meaningful connections and see their progress over time. 

You'll be supported throughout this process by a King's Trust Youth Development Lead, who will provide guidance and resources to help you succeed.

The sessions will typically last 1 hour and will take place face-to-face in a secondary school environment. The frequency and timing of these sessions will be determined by the school, and you will choose a school that fits your availability, as your consistent attendance is crucial.

An educational background is not required, but a genuine interest in engaging with and developing the skills of young people is essential. Full training will be provided to ensure you feel confident and prepared, please be expected to commit to 2 hours in person training, as well as some virtual training.
