About the opportunity

We are seeking committed vegetarians and vegans to join our volunteer board of trustees.

Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is the only UK charity specifically dedicated to supporting older vegetarians and vegans. If you share our belief that all older people should be enabled to maintain their chosen diet and lifestyle, have access to trusted information, and enjoy good quality plant-based food wherever they live, this role may be of interest to you.

Our trustees work with the CEO of VfL and its operational team to ensure strong governance and help realise the strategic aims of this unique and growing charity. Since its formation in 2007, VfL has earned widespread respect for its advocacy, training, and resources that support dignity and choice in later life.

In line with our new Vision for 2030, we are looking to strengthen our board with a new trustee who brings experience of business development and income generation. This role is ideal for someone who understands how values-led enterprise can fuel social change.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:

• Social enterprise or ethical business growth

• Developing new income streams or commercial partnerships

• Consultancy, training, or service-based models

• Scaling mission-aligned products or services

You’ll work alongside a committed board and leadership team as we seek to build VfL’s long-term sustainability – including enhancing our earned income to complement strong reserves and existing financial support.

Experience of charity governance is welcomed but not essential. More important is a strategic mindset, commercial insight, and a strong commitment to VfL’s mission.

The role of trustee is a voluntary one, with expenses paid when incurred in connection with the role. The board meets quarterly, mainly via video conferencing, with at least one in-person meeting annually in Manchester. Meetings are held on Saturdays, with additional (short) discussions scheduled by arrangement when needed.

We are a small, friendly charity, run by four volunteer trustees and loads of volunteer fundraisers. We are a dynamic charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) based in Liverpool, dedicated to fundraising initiatives that create meaningful impact both locally and for baby and children’s hospitals in Sana’a, Yemen. We are seeking a volunteer treasurer to help us with financial management and reporting. Our turnover is less than £50,000 per year and we are therefore able to produce light touch accounts for the Charity Commission. We would like support with this, and with ensuring we remain financially compliant, as well as with ideas for sustainable fundraising. The trustees meet less than once a month and we anticipate a small time committment for this role.

Job Summary

Trans Celebration is seeking a passionate and organised Volunteer Assistant Coordinator to support the Volunteer Coordinator in managing and engaging our growing team of volunteers. This role will help ensure that our community-driven events and initiatives run smoothly by assisting in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and support.

As a key point of contact for our volunteer team, the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about community work, skilled in communication and organisation, and committed to advancing trans rights and visibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new volunteers.

• Maintain volunteer schedules and ensure appropriate coverage for events and campaigns.

• Serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff, aligning volunteer work with Trans Celebration’s mission.

• Provide on-site and remote support to volunteers during programs and events.

• Keep accurate records of volunteer hours, roles, and impact.

• Help implement volunteer appreciation initiatives to boost engagement and retention.

Job Summary

As the Newsletter Volunteer, you will support the creation and execution of email campaigns that promote Trans Celebration’s initiatives and community resources. This role is perfect for someone with experience in email marketing, CRM systems, and content creation who wants to make a meaningful difference while expanding their portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage email marketing campaigns that align with Trans Celebration’s mission and outreach goals.

• Write compelling content and calls-to-action for newsletters, updates, and promotions.

• Design and format newsletters using Mailchimp or similar tools, ensuring mobile responsiveness and visual appeal.

• Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in messaging and layout.

• Develop and maintain segmented mailing lists for different campaign targets.

• Implement best practices in deliverability, personalisation, and A/B testing.

• Monitor and analyse campaign performance to inform future strategy.

• Ensure compliance with GDPR and anti-spam regulations.

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in email marketing and automation platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, HubSpot, Salesforce).

• 1+ years of HTML5 experience for customisation and formatting.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or CorelDRAW is a plus.

• Strong understanding of CRM strategy, list segmentation, and customer journey mapping.

• Excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills.

• Familiarity with GDPR and CAN-SPAM compliance.
