Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Walk N Talk 4 Mental Health is a Hampshire-based charity that brings people together to walk, talk, and support one another’s mental health.  Our mission to normalise conversations about mental health. What started as a local initiative has grown into a wider community movement, offering walks, workshops, creative events, and outreach activities across the region and beyond.

We exist to:

• Promote open conversations around mental health
• Tackle stigma through community connection
• Provide accessible, non-clinical peer support
• Champion lived experience and neurodiversity

To do this well, we need a strong, committed, and diverse Board of Trustees who are passionate about making a difference.

Trustee Role and Responsibilities

Our Trustees are the guardians of our mission. They support the strategic direction of the charity, ensure good governance, and help keep us grounded in our values.

As a Trustee, you will:

• Ensure the charity is carrying out its purpose for public benefit
• Support legal compliance with our governing documents and charity law
• Act in the charity’s best interests at all times
• Oversee financial and risk management
• Champion inclusion, transparency, and ethical practice
• Provide strategic insight, challenge, and encouragement to our team

Trustees are expected to attend quarterly Board meetings and contribute time and expertise to support the charity’s goals.

This is a voluntary role.

Skills and Qualities We’re Looking For

We are looking to grow a well-rounded, creative, and committed Board. You do not need to have previous Trustee experience to apply.

We particularly welcome applications from people with experience or interest in:

• Finance (A Treasurer role is available)
• Charity governance and leadership
• Mental health, neurodiversity, or social justice
• Fundraising, grants, or corporate partnerships
• Legal or HR
• Marketing, comms, or social media
• Community organising or lived experience

We also welcome people who bring a different perspective – whether that’s lived experience of mental health challenges, grassroots activism, or simply a big heart and a curious mind.

Commitment and Terms

We aim to keep things as flexible and accessible as possible.

We estimate the time commitment to be around 4–6 hours a month.

We offer a six-month initial trial period to ensure the role is a good fit, and Trustees are invited to serve an initial term of three years, renewable.

Trustee

We are seeking passionate individuals from all walks of life to become trustees and help shape the future of charities making a real impact across the UK.

Position: Trustee (Voluntary Role)

Location: UK-wide (remote/flexible options available)

Time Commitment: Part-time, flexible hours (typically 4–10 days per year)

Remuneration: Voluntary (travel and reasonable expenses reimbursed)

About the Role

As a trustee, you’ll join the board of a not-for-profit or charitable organisation, helping to guide its strategy, ensure financial sustainability, and uphold its purpose. You will work collaboratively with fellow trustees and staff to ensure the charity is well-run, legally compliant, and delivering real results in line with its mission.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the charity
• Overseeing financial planning, risk management, and governance
• Supporting and constructively challenging senior staff or volunteers
• Upholding the organisation’s values and acting as an ambassador
• Ensuring compliance with charity law and other regulations

Trustees typically attend board meetings every few months (often virtually), with some additional involvement depending on your availability and the needs of the charity.

About You

We’re looking for people from all backgrounds, whether you're an experienced professional, early in your career, or someone with lived experience relevant to a charity’s mission. No previous trustee experience is necessary; training and support will be provided.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with knowledge or skills in:

• Finance, legal or governance
• Digital, data, marketing or fundraising
• HR, people management, or organisational development
• Lived experience of the issues the charity works on
• Public, private or voluntary sector leadership

We are a Kingston-based social marketing enterprise using creative thinking to build community cohesion.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours of commitment per week across Monday and Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. About the Project – “Solta o Jogo”
“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Bid Writer to support Quilombo UK in securing vital funding and resources to further our mission. This remote volunteer role is ideal for someone who is passionate about community impact, writing, and making a meaningful difference in the Third Sector. You'll work with a supportive team, gain hands-on experience in funding applications, and help shape the sustainability of impactful community programmes.

Position Overview:
The Bid Writer Assistant plays a key role in researching, drafting, and editing compelling proposals and funding applications for various projects run by Quilombo UK. The role involves close collaboration with department leads, collecting relevant data, and ensuring submissions align with organisational goals and funder expectations. It offers the flexibility to work independently, with the support of experienced professionals and tailored training where required.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal & Bid Development:

• Research, draft, and edit funding proposals tailored to specific grants, donors, and partners.

• Review and refine existing proposals to ensure clarity, compliance, and impact.

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather relevant content, project insights, and financial information for bids.

• Develop supporting documents and presentations to accompany applications.

Strategic Input & Collaboration:

• Contribute to the bid strategy, suggesting creative and relevant ideas aligned with organisational goals.

• Maintain and manage a structured “bid plan” with timelines, approval processes, and submission deadlines.

• Liaise with HR, Finance, Marketing, and Project teams to align bid content with current projects and strategic direction.

Reporting & Organisation:

• Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of bid statuses.

• Organise bid-related documentation, supporting strong internal knowledge management.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in English, Communications, Business, or related fields.

Experience:

• Prior experience writing funding proposals or grant applications.

• Familiarity with fundraising, community initiatives, or nonprofit funding is desirable.

Skills:

• Strong written communication and persuasive writing skills.

• High attention to detail, organisation, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

About Us

At Guyatt House Care, we provide inclusive, person-centred supported living services to adults with complex mental health needs. Our work is underpinned by values of dignity, creativity, respect, and empowerment. We support individuals to lead fulfilling, independent lives through therapeutic, relational, and community-based approaches.

Many of our service users are neurodivergent, including individuals with autism, ADHD, and other cognitive differences. Our approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and tailored to meet the unique emotional and psychological needs of each person.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer Therapist to join our therapeutic team for one day per week. This is a voluntary (unpaid) position best suited to an experienced or semi-retired therapist who is passionate about working with adults with mental health challenges and neurodivergence in a supported living context.

The successful applicant will work alongside our Psychotherapist/ creative therapist , assisting with a range of clinical and duties, including client-facing work, documentation, and session planning.

Please note: This role does not include clinical supervision, supervision will be discussed in interview or with the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of 1:1 and group-based therapeutic or creative interventions
   

• Assist with preparation, documentation, and clinical note-taking
   

• Contribute to case discussions and planning of therapeutic programmes
   

• Engage compassionately with service users, respecting diverse communication styles and support needs
   

• Maintain confidentiality and work in accordance with professional ethical guidelines (e.g. BACP, UKCP, HCPC) and organisational policies.
   

Essential Criteria

• Qualified Therapist a range of disciplines will be considered
   

• Experience or strong interest in working with adults with mental health needs and neurodivergent profiles
   

• Strong interpersonal, organisational, and reflective skills
   

• Able to commit to one consistent day per week
   

• Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, inclusion, and person-centred practice
   

• Comfortable working collaboratively and supporting a trauma-informed environment
   

Desirable Experience

• Qualification or background in a creative therapy discipline (art, music, drama, dance/movement)
   

• Familiarity with supported living, community-based mental health services, or therapeutic environments
   

• Knowledge of neurodivergence-informed practice

Your Role: Charity Director (Volunteer)

As our Charity Director, you’ll be the driving force behind MINDSET’s launch and growth. Working closely with our Board of Trustees and volunteer team, you’ll shape strategy, build partnerships, and lead operations with heart and purpose.

MINDSET Charity

Background Information

This English School is located in Pablo Nogues. In the past, this school has had to face many problems which have completely changed Silvia's original plan. She began the school with three other teachers through the concept of an affordable school for the children of the town whose parents belong to the working class. However, because the school functions without any funding from the government and because of the economic crisis, the lack of financial support almost forced Silvia to declare bankruptcy because she could no longer pay the teachers. Without change, the school would have had to close but thanks to Armin, one of the founders of Voluntario Global, they were able to find a solution and keep the doors of this invaluable place open. Instead of paying teachers, Armin helped with the creation of a cooperative that will give older students the opportunity to teach younger students with the help of volunteers. So now the school hires their own graduate students to teach in the classrooms and thus gives them the opprotunity to have experience in order to find a formal job.
 

Why is this project important for the community?

Although there are no professional teachers, the volunteer teachers provide a rich and cultured education. Other English schools are between three to five times more expensive than this one, therefore, parents living in nearby neighborhoods are not able to send all of their children to study English. This is why the school is important for the community; it allows all the children to have the same opportunities and access to education, and it is also a way to fight for social justice. There is a lack of infrastructure, such as running water and paved roads in this particular neighbourhood and it is also known to be “left aside” because the state does not intervene. However, the school helps the families and also the young people of the town, because it also provides a first-job opportunity to students that are more advanced. This allows students to have a disposable income with which they can travel; an almost foreign opportunity to most.

Volunteer’s Role

The volunteers use their knowledge of English to help the students in group classes. The presence of native speakers evidently is very helpful to the children’s learning of the language.

Your role in the school will be proportionate to your level of Spanish and the amount of time you can volunteer for. Consequently, this program is ideal for undergraduate students of modern languages on a year abroad, particularly those interested in teaching. If your Spanish and/or time is limited, you will be able to assist classes.

What can you learn as a volunteer?

Learning is a two-way street because the volunteer also learns through this experience. Their official duties are to assist the teenaged teachers, help them with pronunciation or grammatical rules, correct homework, read and explain to the children the basic elements of the language. Moreover, they can also help the oldest students get ready for international exams. This work allows the volunteer to exchange with people from different cultures, mainly thanks to the mix between communities from various countries of Latin America. Furthermore, teaching is the perfect exercise to learn how to speak to an audience and to get its attention. The volunteer learns to communicate with the youngest children who don't speak English correctly, and is able to learn how to adapt quickly and use other means of communication. Above all, the volunteer is able to create relationships with their students that will go beyond the classroom.

• Have a passion about our sector and ideally understand the needs of LGBT , survivors or marginalised communities.

You don’t need to have been a trustee before. What matters is your commitment to our values and your ability to think strategically, challenge constructively, and act in the best interests of the charity.
 
Terms of Appointment
Appointments are for an initial term of three years, renewable for up to two further terms of three years.
 
Remuneration
This is a voluntary role and there is no remuneration. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed in line with the organisation’s expenses policy.
 
Location
Generally, meetings are held remotely online, with an annual Board Strategy Day being held in London.
 
Time Commitment
There are currently 4 formal Board meetings per year and more regular sub-committee meetings. The board meetings currently take place on Zoom on a Wednesday evening for approximately 2.5 hours. Sub-committee dates and times are flexible.
 
Other time commitments will include ongoing liaison with the Chair of the Board, Chief Executive and other senior staff, as well as attendance at other meetings, such as interview panels and events as required. We anticipate the overall time commitment being approximately 3-4 days per month for the first 12-18 months, settling to 2 days per month after that.

As the welcoming face of the food bank you’ll be sociable, enjoy meeting people and able to offer friendly and caring support to those in crisis. You’ll receive and check food vouchers, prepare food parcels and make refreshments for the people who visit the food bank. You’ll provide a listening ear and support people in accessing other services with compassion and dignity.

Why we want you

We are committed to ensuring anybody visiting a food bank is welcomed, valued and treated with dignity.  Volunteers take time to share a warm drink, discuss food requirements, offer a listening ear and, when appropriate, signpost people for further support and help.  

As a Food bank centre helper you will play a vital role giving direct support to people who use food banks, meeting and greeting people coming into the food bank, packing their food parcels, making them feel comfortable and providing further signposting support where appropriate.

In this role you can make a real difference to people’s lives providing vital help and support to those in crisis in your local community.

What you will be doing

• Welcome clients to the foodbank centre
• Receive vouchers, check validity, and prepare food parcels according to the standard packing lists
• Make refreshments and tidy up as required during the session
• Offer a listening ear and signpost clients, as required, to further support, using information from the signposting folder/leaflets
• Work under the guidance of the session leader and report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the project manager/session supervisor
