We understand that taking on a fundraising challenge isn’t as simple as putting one foot in front of the other. Combine the physical challenge with an ambitious fundraising target, taking part for a charity close to your heart and finding time to train, the challenge can feel overwhelming. This is where our Motivational Caller volunteers play a vital role. By offering encouragement, reassurance and a listening ear, they empower fundraisers to reach their goals!
How can you help?
To ensure our fundraisers receive the best possible support, we like to give each of them a call ahead of their challenge event to wish them good luck and offer encouragement. With hundreds of fundraisers taking part, we rely on the support of our volunteers to help make these calls possible.
This is what your volunteer role will look like:
The Events team will provide clear, step-by-step instructions to help you log into our telephone system from the comfort of your own home. This usually takes around 10 minutes and you’re very welcome to do this alongside a member of staff via a Teams call if you’d prefer extra support.
You’ll receive a password-protected spreadsheet containing a list of fundraisers allocated to you. Calls can be made at a time that suits you, during the week or two leading up to each challenge event.
We will provide you with all the information you need including a script to follow and frequently asked questions so that you feel confident to make calls to our fundraisers.
After each call, you’ll simply update the spreadsheet with any key notes or feedback.

By calling our fundraisers, you’ll create a personal connection with members of our community and help them feel recognised, valued and supported for the incredible efforts they’re making. By helping fundraisers reach the start line feeling supported and inspired, you’ll play a vital role in maximising the funds raised for The Brain Tumour Charity, directly contributing to life-changing support services and vital research for the future.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your communication and listening skills through one-to-one conversations with our fundraisers.

You’ll help the Events team raise more than £3.9 million a year, helping fund life-changing support and pioneering research.
Time commitment
We’ll need your help in the week or two leading up to each of our Challenge events throughout the year. The role is very ad-hoc and flexible, so you’ll be free to make the phone calls at a time to suit you within those weeks. Our busiest times of year are Spring and Autumn!
All phone calls will need to be carried out between 10am – 4pm on weekdays only. This is a remote role.
Practical considerations
You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. Volunteers must be over 18. The Brain Tumour Charity is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our organisation. This position is a Trustee role, sitting on and managing Hidayah's Board of Trustees. The Chair of Hidayah provides strategic leadership to Hidayah, ensuring the organization remains aligned with its mission to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ Muslims. The Chair will guide the Board of Trustees in effective governance and act as an ambassador for the charity within both the Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities.
What are the key responsibilities of this role?

Leadership and Governance:
· Provide leadership to the Board, ensuring that Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.

· Ensure the charity complies with its constitution, governing documents, charity law, and other relevant legislation/regulations.
Strategy and Planning:
· Lead the development and implementation of the charity’s annual strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the needs of LGBTQ+ Muslims.
· Liaise with the Secretary in writing the annual report outlining Hidayah’s impact and achievements
· Work with the Board of Trustees to ensure that strategic objectives are effectively executed and serve the community
· Liaising with the HR & Recruitment Trustee regarding a portfolio of policies to ensure the smooth running of Hidayah
Risk Management:
· Ensure appropriate risk management policies and procedures are in place and adhered to.
· Regularly review and address potential risks to the charity’s operations and reputation.
Board of Trustees Management:
· Chair monthly Board meetings effectively, ensuring decisions are taken in a timely manner and that actions are followed up.
· Facilitate a positive and inclusive Board culture where diverse viewpoints are encouraged and respected.
· Manage all Trustees at Hidayah
Advocacy and Representation:
· Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting its work within both the Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities and to a wider audience.
· Represent the charity at key events, meetings, and functions, and develop relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
Financial Oversight:
· Oversee the charity’s financial health, ensuring it operates within its means and maintains proper financial control and accountability.
· Work with the Treasurer and the finance team to ensure the Board of Trustees receives accurate and timely financial information.
· Act as a signatory for Hidayah’s bank account and financial operations.
· To seek out partnerships, sponsors and endorsements from individuals and organisations.
What do we expect from the Chair of Hidayah?

· Demonstrable experience in a leadership role within a charity, non-profit, or similar organization.

Terms of Appointment:
· The Chair will be appointed for an initial term of 3 years, which may be renewed for a further term(s).
· This is a voluntary position; however, expenses incurred in fulfilling the role will be reimbursed as approved by the Board of Trustees in line with Hidayah’s policies.
All volunteers are expected to join Hidayah's Membership and Hidayah Discord server, read all Hidayah policies read, understand and agree with the constitution of Hidayah (available on our website).

How much commitment is required?
The hours are flexible around your schedule. All Trustees volunteers are expected to:

· Add to and maintain the administration of our file-sharing system ‘Google Drive’ to ensure it’s up to date with clear records, templates and forms

The Role - Volunteer Content and Donor Communication Specialists
JOB PURPOSE
This role exists to:
• Craft and manage communications for donors, stakeholders, and the wider community
• Translate survivor-led stories and CIC activities into impactful messaging

Collaborate with the Fundraising Director to ensure content aligns with campaign goals, donor engagement strategies, and organisational priorities.

You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.
What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.

About Say Aphasia
Say Aphasia is a charity supporting people living with aphasia—a language and
communication disability that can affect a person’s ability to speak, understand, read, or
write, often caused by stroke or brain injury. Our local support groups offer a safe,
welcoming environment where people with aphasia and their families can connect, share,
and support one another.
Role Overview
We are seeking a volunteer marketing expert to help design and deliver creative
marketing strategies that strengthen our fundraising campaigns. Your expertise will help
us reach new supporters, increase donations, and grow our impact.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in marketing, digital campaigns, brand
strategy, or fundraising communications who wants to apply their skills to a
meaningful cause.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop marketing strategies to support fundraising campaigns
● Help plan and launch digital fundraising campaigns
● Advise on branding and messaging to inspire donations
● Support social media and email marketing strategies
● Identify opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships
● Analyse campaign performance and suggest improvements
● Collaborate with the Say Aphasia team to ensure communications are accessible

Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with:

● Strong understanding of social media marketing and audience engagement
● Experience with campaign strategy, storytelling, or brand positioning
● Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and simply
● An interest in health, disability advocacy, or community organisations

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.
What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.
